Dark 7: Work

Ethan's POV

We entered the house and saw Black in the living room. Mas nauna kasi siyang dumating dito dahil magkaiba ang mga sasakyang ginamit namin.

"So?"

He looked at us. "He didn't confirm anything but I think I was able to persuade him."

"Paano naman iyong mga underlings niya?" Giovanni asked.

"If he changes his mind, I'm sure he'll tell his underlings to also choose the third option."

I nodded. If he really understood what Black said and realized that what they are aiming will negatively effect the organization, I'm sure he'll choose the third option.

But the things is, we are not yet sure about that. But base of the conversation they had a while ago, mas malaki ang chance na nagbago ang isip niya.

"How about Jake Marcelo? When will you talk to him?"

"Tomorrow."

"Should we go with you again?"

He shook his head. "No. I think I can manage. Besides, you also have a lot of work yourselves."

Napatango-tango na lang. We only have a week to gain DO members to our sides and that's not a plenty of time.

Napabuntong hininga ako at napansin si Stephen. Tahimik lang siyang nakaupo at mukhang malalim ang iniisip kaya napakunot noo ako.

"Stephen, is there a problem?"

I frowned even more because he didn't answer me. Hindi niya nga ako tinignan at parang walang narinig.

"Stephen?"

Nagkatinginan kaming tatlo nang hindi pa din niya ako pinansin. Lumapit na sa kanya si Giovanni at sumigaw sa mismong tenga niya.

"Stephen!"

"Fuck!"

I stopped myself from laughing when Stephen fell off the sofa. Giovanni laughed while Black just blankly stared at him.

"Putangina mo naman! Bakit ka ba nanggugulat?!"

"Wow. Ako pa ang putangina? Ikaw nga itong ilang beses nang tinawag pero 'di namamansin."

He frowned. "Ilang beses tinawag?"

I nodded. "I called you twice but you didn't respond. You seem bothered. Is there a problem?"

Natahimik naman siya bigla habang hinintay lang namin siyang sumagot. He sat on the sofa and shook his head.

"Wala naman."

Nagkatinginan lang kami at napatango-tango. Stephen isn't the type of person who will stay silent all of a sudden since he's the most talkative one.

But if he does, then there might be something really bothering him. Pero kung importante naman iyon, siguradong sasabihin niya sa amin. But he didn't so I guess it's not that important.

We just took a rest in the living room for a bit before having our lunch. Buti na lang din bumili si Stephen ng pagkain sa Monte Corone para hindi na magluluto pa si Giovanni o ako.

Nasa kalagitnaan kami ng tanghalian nang biglang mag-ring ang phone ni Black. He immediately answered the phone and we just ignored it even if it shows disrespect to the food.

Siguro importante din iyon.

"Canada?" he said and suddenly looked at us. "Okay."

Then he ended the call.
