klaus had come to the salvatore house to take elena. stefan told alaric and may but damon wasn't home.
damon had gone to rescue caroline and tyler since klaus captured them.
elijah had returned and they drove over to where the ritual was being done but they parked farther back so klaus couldn't see them.
"the sacrifice is completed in stages as the full moon sets. first the werewolf is killed, then the vampire, finally the doppelgänger. once elena dies, the curse will be broken. klaus will become hybrid." elijah said.
"so when do we attack?" alaric asked.
"elena's death will activate his dormant werewolf side. he'll be vulnerable during the transformation. that's when bonnie comes in." elijah explained.
"and you're sure bonnie will survive this?" stefan asked.
"if she can deliver him to the brink of death, i'll finish the job myself." elijah said as stefans phone rang.
damon called stefan and they found out jenna was being used in the ritual as the vampire.
"what's wrong?" alaric asked when he saw the look on stefan's face.
"oh, my god." stefan said.
"we can't let that happen." may said.
the four of them went to go talk to bonnie and jeremy. alaric wanted to talk to jeremy alone about jenna whilst bonnie went outside.
"why did he take jenna?" bonnie asked.
"a punishment for meddling." elijah said.
"klaus was gonna use tyler and caroline. damon rescued them." stefan explained.
"then we need to go. now. before jenna's been sacrificed. i can kill klaus myself." bonnie said.
"no love, you can't." may told her.
"bonnie, if you use that much power, you'll be dead. we've already been through this. it's not an option." stefan said.
"neither is letting jenna die." bonnie said.
"stefan would agree with you." elijah said.
"wait, what?" may asked looking between the two boys.
"we're gonna offer another vampire. one that he'll want more. me." stefan said as may's heart sank.
"stefan, no. you can't. you can't leave me." may said as stefan turned to his best friend.
"i have to, elena needs a guardian." stefan said.

bonnie did a locator spell to find out where they were. stefan goes to the massacre site first but may followed him without him knowing.
