"you've all asked what you can do to help. there are five days' worth of projects on here. we are going to do them in one. we can break the rules and cut through the red tape. yeah. i expect my mom to be properly celebrated and buried by the end of the day." caroline said.
"sure, care. whatever you need." matt replied as tyler nodded in agreement.
"elena. you're coming with me." caroline told her.
"where are we going?" elena asked her.
"casket shopping. let's move." caroline said.
as the day went on, the funeral got closer. may got dressed in her black dress and she took one last look in the mirror before heading over to the church.
may took a seat beside stefan and the service began.
"we are here today to pay out tribute and our respect to a pillar of our community. our sister, our protector... sheriff elizabeth forbes. we are also here today to show our love and support for liz's family and friends. not only have we sensed our own personal feelings of loss over her passing..." the priest went on.
may felt tears build in her eyes but she promised herself she wouldn't cry.
all of the sheriff's deputies stood up and went over to the stage. they placed the american flag over her coffin and one of the cops pressed on his radio on his shoulder.
"calling sheriff forbes. this is the last call for sheriff forbes. no response. radio number 2-6 is out of service after 12 years and four months of police service. gone but never forgotten. center." the deputy said as the others turned to the center and exited the stage.
after that, damon stepped on stage since liz asked him to write her eulogy.
"liz forbes was my friend. in her last moments, she asked me to pass along a message to her daughter. but i cut her off before she could say too much. told her she could tell caroline herself. but she didn't get that chance. your mom wanted you to know how proud of you she was. and she should be. you're a beautiful, strong woman... a generous friend... and a bright light in a sea of dark. she said you were extraordinary. and you are. and so was she. liz was a hero to this town. she was a hero to all of you. and she was a hero to me. goodbye, sheriff. you will be missed." damon said before he took his seat.
caroline got up after that and she looked at the crowd.
"thank you all for coming. this is for my mom." caroline said before she started to sing.
may looked over at stefan and she saw him looking at caroline the way she saw him look at elena when she first got to mystic falls.
after the service was over, everyone went over to the grill.
after the funeral, caroline ended up turning off her humanity.
while that was happening, damon went back home where he saw bonnie in his kitchen. she made her way back home from the prison world.
-
may was invited to the rave at whitmore warehouse since she wanted to help with looking for caroline.
when may got to the rave she parked her car and she was about to go inside when she saw enzo talking to caroline.
she saw caroline had her hands on enzo's chest but he backed away from her.
"sorry, love. you know i can't when i want someone else." enzo said before he walked away.
he had no idea that may was standing behind them but caroline looked back at may and grinned.
"oops." caroline said.
may looked at her and she noticed that she was holding enzo's phone in her hands.
"caroline, why did you steal his phone?" may asked her.
"if i told you, that would ruin my plans." caroline said.
may looked down at a metal pole that was on the ground and before she could grab it, caroline stabbed may in the hand with a stick.
may let out a cry in pain before caroline stabbed her in the stomach with the metal pole.
"caroline." may grunted out in pain.
caroline didn't even react, she just bent the metal pole so that it would be harder to take out.
"see you around, may." caroline said before she took off.
may groaned in pain trying to remove the pole but she was too weak.
she heard someone walking up to her and she prayed it wasn't a college student.
"how do you always get yourself in these situations?" she heard making her look up and she saw enzo.
"thank god you're not some drunk moron." may joked as enzo chuckled.
enzo grabbed the pole, straightening it out and pulling it out of her. she let out a breath of relief and she locked eyes with enzo.
"so, is it safe to assume humanity less caroline did this to you?" enzo asked as he helped may up to her feet.
"yeah, you know vampires without their humanity can be real bitches." may muttered.
"i know this may be poor timing but i just needed to know... have you been avoiding me?" enzo asked her as she let out a sigh.
"there's just been a lot going on right now, enzo. one of my best friends just turned off her humanity and i don't know how we're gonna get her back." may said as enzo nodded his head.
"right then, i'm sorry for bringing this up now." enzo said as he went to walk away but she stopped him.
"enzo, wait. the truth is... ever since you came back into my life i've been terrified to let myself feel anything for you. i left you and i feel like if i hadn't, maybe your life wouldn't have been ruined." may said as enzo stepped closer to her.
"you did not ruin my life, may. you left because you wanted to protect me and i'm sure if you would've stayed, you would've turned me into a vampire anyway because i would've had consumption either way. i appreciate your honesty and if there's anything i can do to help with caroline, let me know." enzo said as may nodded her head.
