may was sitting in the living room with stefan. he was back in mystic falls since the armory had captured rayna.

damon had just told stefan his plan to desiccate next to elena until she woke up. he didn't wanna live without her.

may and stefan were having a drink by the fireplace and they head someone walk in the house.

"deputy donovan." may said when she saw matt walk in.

"really not the best time, matt." stefan told him.

"this won't take long." matt told him.

"look, i don't want to have to kick you out of here, but i will." stefan said.

"yeah, i know you will. and there's nothing i can do to stop you. because you're a vampire, and i'm a human. i've been thinking a lot about that lately. about my place in this town. my home. whenever vampires are here, humans will always be at their mercy. whatever laws we pass, you can break. whatever lives we build, you can destroy. we don't stand a chance again you. that stops today." matt said.

"excuse me?" stefan said before getting up from his seat.

"what the hell are you talking about?" may asked matt.

"vampires need to leave mystic falls... for good. all of you." matt said before stefan scoffed.

"look, i appreciate whatever moral crisis you're going through right now, but this is my home. i'm not going anywhere." stefan told him.

matt put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a usb.

"this is footage from the grill today. of damon doing some very not human things to rayna. i've got footage of the of you and may, too. hundreds of hours from the town surveillance system. now... i don't want to show it to anyone or expose you." matt said.

"are you threatening us?" stefan asked him.

"yeah. i am. and i hate that. i hate that i have to threaten my friends because they're vampires. i hate that i'm friends with vampires at all. but this isn't about me. or you. this is about our home, which has been destroyed time and time again. this is the only way to break that cycle. you have until the end of the day." matt said nodded he started to walk towards the door.

"damon, too." matt said before he left.

"that son of a bitch." may muttered before she threw her glass of liquor at the fire.

the fire grew bigger for a moment and then she went to her room. she saw a letter addressed to her on her pillow.

she opened it and she started to read what it said.

hey may, i know you're probably judging me right now, but hey, you probably should be. by the time you read this, i'll be desiccated in a coffin next to elena. i'm not in a good spot without her, before her i didn't know what it was like to be happy. i'm sure you can understand that. i just hope that you can be there for stefan in ways that i should have been. so, that's it. this is my goodbye, i guess. i hope we see each other again.

- damon

may couldn't believe all of this was happening. stefan was leaving to go on the run with valerie, caroline and alaric were in dallas, damon was gone.

may felt the only place she could go was to enzo's. she showed up at his house and he was more than happy to let her stay with him.

matt had just kicked her out of her own house, her town that she grew to love.

-

three years later

may remembered the night she was captured by the armory. they shot her with vervain and even in all enzo's efforts, he couldn't stop them.

while may was in the armory, locked in a room that would pump out vervain periodically. she learned why she was there.

they were conducting research on witches and when they learned may's mother was a witch, they knew she had the witch genes in her blood.

may remembered the day her mother was killed. it was during the witch trails, they knew her mother was doing witchcraft and she only used her magic for good. the town's people didn't care, they still tied her up to a pole and burned her alive in front of the town, in front of may and her family.

she was tied up to a bed when she heard noise in the distance. she heard a thud and a scream, glass breaking. she looked up to see what was happening but she didn't see anything.

she suddenly heard her door open and she saw enzo. he had some blood on his hands but she didn't care. she hadn't seen him in three years.

"enzo." may said giving him a weak smile.

"i'm getting you out of here, love." enzo said before undoing her restraints.

may was weak from the vervain and when she tried to get out of the bed, she tumbled a bit. enzo caught her and he carried her in his arms, bridal style.

he vamped her out of the building and he put her in his car.

she felt so weak that she fell asleep in the front seat. enzo looked at her and he drove off, going to his cabin where the armory wouldn't be able to find her.

he carried her out of the car and put her on the couch. she still slept peacefully, he didn't even wanna imagine what the armory did to her.

when she woke up, he brought her a glass with blood in it. she needed to regain her strength.

"here, love. drink up." enzo said before she sat up.

she took the glass from his hands and enzo sat beside her, watching her drink every last drop of the blood.

"thank you." may said before they locked eyes.

she hadn't seen enzo in almost three years. to say she was happy to see him would be an understatement.
