1691, mabel was getting the table ready for dinner while her father and her brothers henry, alexander, philip and harold gathered fire wood.

her mother was making them all some stew and mabel had gotten them some bread to go along with it.

they heard footsteps approaching their house and mabel saw men outside with torches.

"majorie wilkins! come out now and no one will get hurt." they heard the mayor shout.

mabel looked at her mother but she didn't see fear in her eyes. her mother was fearless.

"wait here, darling." majorie said to her daughter before going outside.

mabel didn't listen in on the conversation but she saw the men taking her mother away. she quickly ran outside and started to scream.

"please, stop! you can't take my mother!" mabel shouted.

her father ran over, her brothers following behind him. thomas wilkins saw his wife with rope around her wrists, tied behind her back.

"what's the meaning of this?" thomas asked them.

"thomas, we have reason to believe majorie had committed a sin so grave we cannot forgive." the mayor said.

"that's per posturist!" her eldest brother, harold said.

"harold, i'll handle this." thomas told his son before turning to the mayor.

"what sin do you speak of?" thomas asked locking eyes with his wife.

"witchcraft, sir. we believe your wife is a witch." the mayor said.

thomas looked back at his children before looking back at majorie. mabel didn't see a shocked look on her father's face. she started to wonder if it was true.

the mayor dragged majorie away and brought her to the town square. thomas tried to stop the children from following him but they were relentless.

as majorie got tied up to a post, she looked at her children with a sad smile.

"it's okay, my dears. don't be afraid." she said as a tear ran down her face.

"majorie wilkins, you have been charged with witchcraft. the sentence is death by fire." the executioner said.

mabel's eyes widened with fear as she saw a torch being lit.

"no! you can't do this!" mabel shouted but her father grabbed her, holding her back.

she watched as the flame lit up the coals under her mother's feet. she saw the fire travel up her body and she closed her eyes.

although her eyes were closed tightly, she could still hear her mother screaming out in pain.

mabel was only 16 when she lost her mother. within the months of losing her, her family went downhill. her father began drinking. harold was forced to raise his siblings.

her mother's death was one of the worst moments in her entire life.

by the time she started to practice magic, she was 17. scarlet fever started to spread and she ended up catching it on her 18th birthday.

her brothers and her father died but she ended up being turned by rose.

she had lost the ability to do any magic after she turned.

-

enzo had been giving may pills over the last three years after he rescued her. the pills were made out of rayna's blood and they blocked her witch side.

it also insured that the armory couldn't track her. he didn't want to lose her again.

while she stayed at his cabin, she had learned how to knit. it was something she'd already wanted to learn but she never had the time to do.

she had to admit, she wasn't happy with being cooped up in a cabin, but she didn't mind spending it with enzo.

may knew that enzo had been giving bonnie the pills as well, the armory was trying to get her as well.

bonnie was checked into a rehab and she was investigating alex st.john's family's. which, was also enzo's family.

may saw it was time to take another pill and before she had the chance to grab it, enzo walked in.

"hello, beautiful." enzo said walking up to her and wrapping his arms around her.

"hi." may said with a smile before placing a kiss on his lips.

may reached over to grab one of the pills she had beside her chair but enzo gently took them away from her.

"what's wrong?" may asked him, locking eyes with him.

"you can't take these anymore, love." enzo told her.

"but the armory will find me if i don't." may said.

"the pills are making you sick." enzo said, may looked surprised.

she could tell by the worried look in his eyes that he was serious.

"what? i feel fine, love." may told him.

"i didn't, i didn't know, but the armory was, was-was experimenting on mary-louise. they forced these pills down her throat every day for the past three years, and as a result, she became very... very ill." enzo told her.

"but, didn't her and nora blow themselves up?" may asked him.

"it's because she knew she was dying and nora was marked by rayna. i'm-im, i'm so... sorry. uh, i-i thought i was protecting you." enzo said softly.

may stood there in shock for a moment, letting the realization hit her. she was going to die.

"so, i'm dying? is that what you're telling me? i mean, i've died once before, and it's not all that fun." may asked him with tears in her eyes.

"no. i will not let that happen. i will not let you die, may wilkins. you have my word." enzo said before pulling her into his arms.

she heard someone's footsteps and she looked at the front door and saw stefan.

he had found out from alaric that may was in hiding and he wanted to make up with her.

may pulled away from enzo and she walked closer to the door, looking at stefan.

"may, i'm so sorry." stefan said before may slammed the door in his face.

she hadn't heard from him since he left to go on the run with valerie. she was angry that he abandoned her even after the armory captured rayna.
