summer was coming to an end. things were a bit different.
stefan was mia, bonnie was traveling the world with her mom.
jeremy was back to the land of the living thanks to bonnie's spell.
may couldn't walk around her house without hearing elena and damon having sex.
caroline was in college applications and moving mode.
and the best thing of all, katherine was now human. elena had given katherine the cure after she attacked her after graduation.
the only negative about this summer... was the whole summer. may missed her best friend and she had no idea where he was.
she kept having nightmares about stefan drowning over and over again, at the bottom of a lake.
may had to pause her search for lorenzo because she needed bonnie's help to find him but she wasn't sure when she was coming back to mystic falls.
may was upstairs in her room since she had just woken up. elena was gone since her and caroline moved into their college dorms so it was now just her, damon and jeremy.
"may!" she heard damon shout from downstairs making her groan.
she grabbed her robe and went downstairs to see what he wanted.
"what do you- katherine." may said when she saw a human katherine standing in her living room.
"it's been a long summer." katherine said.
"katherine." damon said.

katherine was getting herself drunk and may looked at damon, wondering if he was gonna kick her out.
"little early for getting drunk, no?" may asked.
"you're gonna have to cut me off soon. my tolerance is a joke now. it's just so glorious." katherine said.
"you're miserable." damon said.
"please. i'm katherine pierce. i'm a survivor." katherine said.
"you're a liar. your hair's messed up. your nails are chipped. you're a sad, miserable human being. and you want me to turn you. so here. go ahead. drink up. i'll kill you. you bite the mailman, you'll be a vampire again. go ahead, come on." damon said biting his wrist and putting it in front of katherine but she wouldn't take his blood.
"i can't, okay? no ones ever taken the cure before. if i die, there's a good chance i may never wake up." katherine said.
"and that would be tragic." damon said sarcastically.
"quite honestly, i'd love to see what happens." may said.
"and deep down in that mushy, gushy, elena loving heart... there's a part of you that doesn't want me to die." katherine said caressing damon.
"what are you doing here, katherine?" damon asked her.
the phone started ringing and before anyone could grab it, katherine answered it.
