may, caroline and matt were with alaric in his office since matt wanted to meet with them.
he told them that tripp, the new vampire hunter had enzo locked up.
"why didn't you tell us enzo's been locked up this whole time?" caroline asked him.
"honestly, i didn't know anybody was missing him." matt said as may felt rage take over her and she snapped the pen in her hand.
"matt." caroline said.
"i'm sorry. i was confused about which vampires we like and which ones we don't." matt said.
"and i'm getting confused on which humans i like and which ones i don't." may said angrily.
"okay. well, what about ivy? is she there too?" caroline asked, changing that subject before may could hurt matt or worse.
"tripp drove her and two others across the border last night." matt said.
"ugh, god." caroline said.
"he's definitely on the list of humans i don't like." may said.
"well, do you know where tripp is now?" alaric asked matt.
"he's running down another lead, but he didn't tell me what it is." matt replied.
"well, can you find out? we need to know who his next target is." alaric said.
"if enzo talks, it'll be you guys." matt said.
"enzo wouldn't expose us, matt. some of us are loyal." may said.
"well, that's not going to happen. because we're busting him out, right? if for no other reason than so i can kick his ass for getting caught in the first place." caroline said.
"do you have any idea how he even managed to get his hands on him?" alaric asked matt.
"he didn't." stefan said walking into the room.
"what are you talking about?" may asked him.
"i turned him in." stefan said as may stood up from her chair.
"you did what?" may asked angrily.

"look, enzo wasn't being careful, tripp would've caught him eventually and that meant danger for all of us." stefan explained as they walked through the woods.
"honestly, i don't care." may said.
"right. so you handed enzo over so we wouldn't be targeted. and now you're rescuing him so we won't be targeted. way to go." caroline said.
"i thought tripp was gonna kill him. i didn't think he was gonna keep him alive for information." stefan said.
"oh. well, in that case, sounds like you were just being practical. so did you rat out ivy too?" caroline asked him.
"what?" stefan asked.
"well, you didn't wanna deal with her. you wanted her gone, and now she is. you know what, you really should write tripp a thank you note." caroline said sassily.
"hold on a second. enzo turns ivy, right? a hunter kills her, and yet i'm the bad guy?" stefan asked.
"finally, you're getting on the same page as us." may said.
