while stefan and klaus caught up over drinks, may went outside for some fresh air.
she heard someone vamp up to her and she looked beside her.
"mabel." she heard a familiar voice say.
"elijah." she replied, smiling at him.
"what are you doing here?" elijah asked her as they looked at the night sky.
"you know i've always loved new orleans." may told him as he smiled.
"you know, not a day has gone by that i haven't thought of you, mabel. i've wished for you to find happiness." elijah said making may smile.
"your wishes must've come true because i met someone." may told him.
"you have? that's wonderful." elijah said.
may looked at him and she was looking for any indication that he still had feelings for her.
"elijah, i have to ask, do you still have feelings for me?" may asked him, he let out a light chuckle.
"i have far too many complications in my life at the moment to be thinking about that. part of me will always care for you, mabel. i'm just happy to see you have a love that you deserve. you do love him, don't you?" elijah asked her.
may looked down at her feet with a sad smile on her face. she missed him like crazy.
"i do." may said looking up at elijah.
"then, why are you with him?" elijah asked her.
she felt her phone vibrate and she saw a text from enzo. it read i wonder if you still think of me. i wonder if you still love me the way i will always love you.
"stefan needs my help." may told him, looking up from her phone. elijah nodded his head.
"you loyalty is something people love about you, mabel. however, i'm afraid the more selfless you become, the less time you've actually spent on yourself. you deserve that." elijah told her.
his phone buzzed and he saw he had a text from klaus. when he checked it, he looked back up at may.
"what?" may asked him.
"stefan has made an enemy of rayna cruz. you're here to protect him." elijah said making may's eyes go wide.
"elijah, please tell me stefan is safe." may said.
"he will be. klaus will ensure it. he wants to bring stefan to a witch, i'll take you." elijah said.

they got to the mikaelson house and stefan and klaus had just arrived at the same time.
they walked upstairs to meet the witch. she was a blonde girl.
"freya, this is stefan salvatore and mabel wilkins. they're old friends. stefan is one of my trickle down sirelings... long story. stefan, may, this is freya, my brand new older sister, also, a long story. stefan needs a favour." klaus told her.
"sister?" may asked as she looked at elijah and he nodded.
"you're old friends, are you?" freya asked them.
"well, friend is complicated. i'd say frenemy." may replied.
"well, it kind of depends on your definition." stefan told freya.
