may had miss calls from stefan saying that caroline was having a c section to have the babies. they needed to be born since they were siphoning magic from caroline.
may rushed to the hospital as quickly as she could and she found stefan.
"stefan? how is she?" may asked him.
stefan looked at her and she saw a concerned look on his face.
"she's okay, valerie is helping her. may, rayna has the sword. she's coming this way." stefan told her.
"what?" may asked in a panicked tone.
"yeah, beau, nora and mary-louise took off but valerie stayed to help caroline. look, you should get out of here, too." stefan said before may shock her head.
"no way, i'm not leaving now. not until caroline and the babies turn out okay." may told him as he nodded his head.
may looked at stefan and she could see how scared he looked. she pulled him into a hug and he remained silent. he was grateful may was staying with him because he was freaking out.
may and stefan went in the room with caroline and not long after, bonnie showed up.
"how is she?" bonnie asked.
"they're about to get the babies out." stefan told her before he noticed the expression on her face.
"bonnie, what's with the worried look?" may asked her but she stayed silent.
"what's wrong?" stefan asked her.
"beau didn't get away." bonnie said making valerie look up at her.
"no. no, that's not possible." valerie said.
"i'm so sorry, valerie." bonnie said.
"and what about the others?" valerie asked her.
"i don't know. but i think rayna's somewhere inside this hospital." bonnie informed them.
"where's damon?" stefan asked and bonnie stayed silent.
the lights started to flicker and they knew it was because of her.
"this is bad." may said.
"not to make things worse, but my magic doesn't work on her, and i don't think damon can take her alone. stefan, you have to go." bonnie told him.
"what are you talking about? i'm not gonna leave her." stefan told bonnie.
"i will stay and help valerie. damon needs you." bonnie told him.
"i don't care what damon needs." stefan told him.
"i don't know what he did to make you hate him, but he is so determined to make things right, he's gonna get himself killed. do you honestly think i would do anything to put caroline at risk?" bonnie asked.
"stefan, let bonnie and valerie take care of this. we'll go help damon." may said.
"what the hell is going on here?" alaric asked when he rushed through the doors.
"stefan, go. we can take it from here." bonnie said.
stefan took one last look at caroline before him and may went to go find damon and rayna.
may and stefan finally found them. damon was on his knees and rayna had her sword in her hand.
"no." may said.
stefan quickly rushed in front of damon, taking a stab to the chest by the sword.
"stefan, no!" may shouted.
"stefan." damon said.
stefan pushed rayna off of him and he stood there for a moment, processing what had just happened.
"i'll see you, brother." stefan said before he disappeared in a flash.

may was going to go on the run with stefan. she couldn't let him go alone.
stefan had already started driving and may was going to meet with him along the way.
may was packing up her stuff and she left enzo a voicemail to meet with her.
she was packing her bag and she heard footsteps behind her, when she turned around, she saw enzo was there. he looked at her with a confused look after seeing her suitcase.
"you're leaving?" enzo asked her in a sad tone.
"stefan was stabbed by rayna's sword. that means he's marked and she won't stop hunting him until he's dead." may told him.
enzo stepped closer to her and they locked eyes. both of them with sadness behind them.
"you're going with him." enzo concluded, may nodded her head.
"he's my best friend, enzo. i've lost him once before, i can't do it again. i want nothing more than to stay here with you." may said before enzo wrapped his arms around her waist.
"but you can't. you're a loyal friend and that's something i admire about you. i hope you know i'll wait for you." enzo said making may look down at her feet.
"enzo-" may began but he cut her off.
"i'm going to be here whenever you return. you just promise me you'll stay safe." enzo said lifting her chin up so she could look at him.
"i promise." may replied before their lips connected.
enzo gripped at her waist as may cupped his face. their kiss was filled with passion. they were kissing as if it may be the last they'd ever share.
when they pulled away from each other, enzo presses his forehead against hers. both of them were taking in what felt like their last moment together.
"i can't lose you, mabel. please, don't get yourself killed." enzo said.
may moved back to look at him and she felt tears run down her cheeks.
"this isn't goodbye. i've faced rayna before and i'm not afraid to do it again. she's already taken someone i love in the past, i'm not going to let her take another." may told her.
enzo smiled at her and he wiped the tears from her face with his thumb.
"this isn't goodbye." enzo said repeating what she had said.
the two of them pulled away from each other and enzo grabbed her suitcase, carrying it to her car for her. they walked out of the lockwood house and packed up may's car.
may gave enzo a reassuring smile which he exchanged before she got into her car.
enzo watched as she drove away and her car got further and further until he couldn't see her anymore.
may looked in her rear view mirror and watched as enzo faded away from it. she couldn't help but let tears slip down her face.
she needed to do this, she had to be with stefan to make sure he would be safe.
