may and damon were down in the tunnels and they heard katherine walking up to them.
"taking a trip down memory lane? oh, i've missed this place... said no one ever." katherine said.
"i figured you'd keep showing up to annoy me. you're nothing if not utterly predictable." damon replied.
"and miss a minute of the elena gilbert show? speaking of which, should you be by her side?" katherine asked him.
elena was spelled into the boiler room and they had no way of breaking the spell.
"well, i figure now that you're practically the devil, you'd be in the know. i just hung up with bonnie bennett, and she figured out a way to save the day." damon told her.
"bonnie isn't strong enough to save a kitten." katherine replied.
"are you sure about that?" may asked her.
"she's done it once or twice and my money's on her." damon replied.
"we're talking about hellfire. so intense, it could obliterate anything within miles. what the hell is bonnie gonna do? she's 30 minutes away." katherine said.
"again i ask, are you sure about that?" may asked making katherine confused.
"if you take the highway around the mountain, sure. but as the crow flies, it's only seven miles... which is the beauty of these tunnels. did you know that they go from the armory straight into the heart of downtown mystic falls? man, i bet you didn't know that, did you?" damon asked her.
"you think bonnie bennett can magically draw hellfire through the tunnels away from the town?" katherine asked.
"even better. i think she can send it straight back to hell, where you and i will be waiting patiently for it. i got to say, i look forward to dying by your side, kp." damon told her.
"you're bluffing." katherine said with a smirk.
"no, he's not... and neither am i." stefan said, making his appearance known.
"stefan." may said looking at him.
"i got this handled, bro. you and may need to get out of these tunnels." damon told him.
"i'm not the one who's gonna get out of here, damon. you are." stefan told him.
"bad time to be a martyr, stefan." damon replied.
"said the martyr." stefan replied back.
"i'm gonna let you two figure this out amongst yourselves." katherine said.
before she could walk away, damon threw the dagger into her back, killing her again.
"i'll leave you two to talk." may said before she left to give stefan and damon their privacy.
may knew that after stefan left, damon had compelled him. damon took katherine's body and they waited for the fire.

may felt the flames hit them and when she opened her eyes, her and stefan were in the high school.
may was standing by the locker and she saw elena bump into stefan.
"hi." stefan said to elena.
"hi. what happened? why am i here right now?" elena asked them.
"i don't know about bonnie, but damon... damon wanted to sacrifice everything to save you, to save this time. he was ready. i'm human now, so is may. he compelled me to leave. but he should have known better. i would never walk a day on this earth as a human without taking vervain." stefan began explaining to her.
