the wedding was all set up and everyone was piling up into the venue.
there was an hour until the wedding started and may was getting excited.
may saw stefan walk up to her with a glass of champagne and she thanked him before taking one of the two he was holding.
"if i didn't know any better i'd say may wilkins is excited for a wedding." stefan joked as they chuckled.
"this is the first wedding i've ever been to. it sounds pathetic but there's just never been enough time for that i guess." may said as stefan nodded.
"well, if i ever have a wedding you'll be my best woman." stefan said as may smiled.
"how are things with you and caroline?" may asked him as he let out a sigh and looked down.
"uh, she's avoiding me. understandably so but i just wish she'd talk to me." stefan said as may nodded her head.
"then talk to her. look, when i let go of enzo it was one of my biggest regrets and now... he's here trying to give me a second chance but i don't know if i can take it." may said as stefan looked at her.
"why not?" stefan asked her as she stared into her champagne glass.
"i don't want a second chance if i just end up hurting him again." may said as stefan placed a hand on her shoulder.
"then don't hurt him, just be with him." stefan told her before he went off to talk with elena.
may took in his words and she downed her drink.
the sun had set and it was finally time for the wedding. may took a seat in the front beside stefan and caroline.
everyone's heads turned when the music started to play. elena and damon walked down the aisle first since damon was best man and elena was maid of honor.
next was jo and her father who walked down the aisle and jo stood beside alaric.
the two of them turned to the side, looking into each other's eyes and smiling.
may saw jo's father took a seat beside liv who had came for the wedding.
"welcome family and friends on this magical evening... to the wedding of alaric saltzman and josette laughlin. josette and alaric have prepared their own vows." the priest said.
jo passed her bouquet over to elena and alaric let out a nervous breath. the two of them held hands and may felt herself tearing up.
"neither one of us should be here right now. we've spent our lives dodging fate... and beating the odds. but because we did... i got to meet you... the most beautiful... hilarious and intimidatingly brilliant woman... i have ever known. you inspire me. you've shown me that happiness... is actually something that i can have in my life. and so... i promise to be with you... and love you... and to dodge fate with you... for the rest of our lives." alaric said before placing the wedding ring on her finger.
jo let out some tears and smiled at alaric.
"josette?" the priest said.
"oh, god. that's a tough act to follow." jo said making everyone laugh.
"here goes. alaric saltzman... you are..." jo began but she started shaking.
may noticed jo didn't seem well and so did everyone else.
"jo? what is it?" alaric asked.
everyone kept looking at her but she wasn't responding.
"jo?" alaric asked.
may saw jo's stomach was bleeding and her white dress was now red.
"oh, god, no." alaric said.
jo let out a cry of pain before alaric grab her so she wouldn't fall over.
"no, no, no, no." alaric said.
out of nowhere, kai appeared beside jo and he had a bloody knife in his hands.
"oh, my god! no, no, no, jo." alaric said freaking out.
"i was gonna wait till the death do us part bit, but it seemed a little on the nose." kai said.
"no. no." alaric kept repeating and at this point jo was laying in his lap.
"am i right?" kai asked.
their father tried to go after kai but he used his magic to hurt everyones heads.
may grabbed her head in pain and she fell out of her chair.
"miss me? no? oh, well." kai said as everyone screamed out in pain.
kai waved his hands around making all the glass vases shatter and everything felt like it was moving around like a tornado.
to say chaos was unraveling was a total understatement. when the screaming and shaking had stopped, may looked around and she saw a bunch of people were hurt.
may was under some chairs and stefan went over to help her.
"kai?" his father said looking around but he couldn't find him.
"stefan! stefan! she won't wake up." damon said with elena in his arms.
may, caroline and stefan were all looking at damon and they didn't know what to do.
"oh, my god." caroline said.
"she took the cure, vampire blood won't help." may said.
"she won't wake up, i don't understand." damon said.
"just get her to the hospital. now." stefan told him.
"yeah." damon said before he vamped away with elena.
"she's human. what if she doesn't...?" caroline asked but was cut off when everything went dark.
kai had snapped may, caroline and stefan's necks making them unconscious.
when stefan, may and caroline finally woke up, they were in a car.
may noticed she was in the passenger seat and she saw enzo was the one driving the car.
"enzo?" may said as they locked eyes.
"good, you're up. sorry to be indecorous, but you were all solidly unconscious when i pulled you from the wedding mayhem." enzo said looking back at the road.
"where are we going? elena." caroline asked him.
"elena is in the hospital with damon. kai is dead and all the geminis are going down with him. and i grabbed the three of you to help me deal with a bigger problem." enzo said.
"there's a bigger problem?" caroline asked.
