may and enzo went back into the house and may told him that elena was actually in the house, not in the warehouse.
"so, elena's here? she's the reason bonnie bought this house." enzo said.
"yeah, she had her moved from the brooklyn warehouse after you and damon went missing, she said it was for her safety." may said.
"heard your chat with damon." enzo said.
"he's right. this isn't the time to be selfish i suppose. defeating cade is more important. we're so close to everything we wanted. it's right there... and we can't have it." may said but enzo pulled out two syringes from his pocket.
"after everything you've done for them, i think you can be selfish this one time, love. your selflessness is part of what makes you you. and i will be by your side no matter what happens. right now, you are taking this cure and having the future you've always wanted, i'll join you eventually as soon as cade is put down. i'll still be in love with you even if i stay a vampire. i just hope you'll still be in love with me once you become human." enzo said before he passed her the syringe and placed his arms around her.
"of course, love. i'll always love you." may said with a smile.
"i'll watch you grow old and gray. and you'll be as beautiful then... as you are now. i don't need the cure to be happy. i only need you. but i'll be damned if i watch you dread living as a vampire for another moment." enzo said before may pulled him closer, kissing him deeply.
she felt him deepened the kiss and when they pulled away, may took the syringe and injected herself with the cure.
she tumbled over a bit and enzo stopped her from falling down.
"are you okay, love?" enzo asked her.
"i think so, let me test it." may said before taking the needle from the syringe and pricking her finger.
her and enzo watched as her finger started to bleed but they didn't see her healing.
"oh, my god. it worked! i can't believe it!" may said as she smiled and jumped into enzo's arms.
"i'm so happy for you, love." enzo said spinning her around before kissing her.
"now, let's go try and save the world." enzo said since they still had the second syringe.
may was looking into enzo's eyes until suddenly, he got pulled out of the house.
"enzo!" may said once he landed outside the door.
she wasn't sure how, but she knew something must've happened with the deed.

after bonnie tried inviting enzo in again, they realized it wasn't going to work.
"it's no use, love. look, we need to get the cure and go. can you manage?" enzo asked her.
"yeah, of course." may replied.
the syringe had flown out of enzo's pocket when he was dragged out of the house. she grabbed the syringe filled with the cure and she went back to enzo.
"all right, i got it." may said walking out to the front door.
she saw enzo had a strange look on his face, like something bad was about to happen.
"enzo?" may asked looking into his eyes.
he looked straight into her eyes and she watched as he dropped to the ground. she looked up and saw stefan was holding enzo's heart in his hand.
may felt her heart shatter into a million pieces and she let out a scream. she saw stefan walk into the house and he was coming after her.
may acted quickly and broke off a part of the wooden coat hanger while stefan mocked her.
"really? human is not a good look on you, may." stefan said to her.
may tried to stab him but stefan grabbed her arm, tightly gripping her arm. for the first time in decades, may felt human pain.
"let go of me." may said.
"what do you care what happens to elena, huh? in a minute, you're gonna be dead, anyway." stefan told her.
may quickly thought to the fastest plan that she could. she knew it would ruin the plan with cade but she needed to protect herself and elena.
"and you're gonna be human." may said before she injected stefan with the needle.
stefan fell to the ground and may immediately ran over to enzo. she saw his body had turned gray and she knew he was gone forever.
she put him in her lap, crying over his dead body.
"enzo!" she shouted.
she let out the most painful scream that she ever had in her whole life. she could feel every moment of happiness slowly drift away from her. there was no turning off these feelings, though. her humanity switch was on permanently.
now she had to come to terms with being a human in a world where enzo wasn't with her.

may sat on the floor of the house, trying to process what had just happened. she heard her phone ringing and she debated letting it go to voicemail.
she picked it up, answering with a sniffle.
"may, hey. may! may, hey, what's wrong? is she still alive? may, talk to me." damon kept saying over the sounds of her crying.
"she's fine, damon. elena's okay." may said as tears ran down her face.
"well, those aren't tears of joy, may. what is wrong?" damon asked her again.
"he's gone. enzo he... he's gone." may said trying to make the words sound real.
"what?" damon asked her.
"he's dead. your brother killed him." may told him.
"listen to me, may. i am on my way, okay?" damon replied.
"no! stay the bloody hell away from me!" may said, emotions all over the place.
"not until i know you're safe. i'll deal with stefan." damon said knowing that may must've taken the cure.
"i took care of him." may told him.
"what do you mean?" damon asked her.
"i gave him the cure. i'm not the only one who's human now." may replied back.
stefan had took off after he woke up, he didn't even look at may before he left. he had no idea how he could face her after what he'd done to her.
