stefan, damon and may were at elena's house since she and elijah had spoken.
"it was their mother esther who was sealed in that coffin." elena said.
"their mother?" may asked shockingly.
"as in the original witch?" stefan asked.
"what? how is she even alive? thought her hybrid freak of a son ripper her heart out 1000 years ago." damon said.
"i don't know. i'm guessing she has a couple connections in the witching community. elijah said she wants to live in peace with her family. including klaus." elena said.
"right, peace. i'm sure that'll go over well. they wouldn't know what peace is if it struck them over the head." may said.
"she was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill klaus." stefan said.
"yeah, well, not anymore. at least, not according to elijah." elena said.
"that coffin was the only thing stopping klaus from tearing us to shreds." stefan pointed out.
"yeah, he almost bbq'd you." may said.
"anyone else feeling a little used right now?" damon asked.
"look, elijah promised that his family wouldn't hurt any of us." elena said before the doorbell rang.
"i believe him." elena said before she opened the front door.
she didn't see anyone there but she saw there was a letter addressed to her on her welcome mat.
"what is it?" damon asked her.
"it's an invitation. please join the mikaelson family this evening at 7 o'clock for dancing, cocktails and celebrations." elena read off the invitation.
"who the hell are the mikaelsons?" stefan asked.
"the original family." elena said.
"well, this is interesting. they're throwing a party." may said.
"not bad enough they're moving in to town, now they want a housewarming gift?" damon asked.
"wait, there's a note on the back. elena, i think it's time that we finally meet. esther." elena said.

"if esther wants to talk to me, i should find out why." elena said.
"well, that's a dumb idea. she already tried to kill you once." damon said.
"no, elena's right. bonnie was led to open that coffin for a reason. i think there's more to this than some family reunion." stefan said.
"can we go back in time to the old stefan who cared if elena lived or died?" damon said.
"what for? that's your job now." stefan replied.
"all right, let's not fight." may said.
"stefan has a point, damon. i should find out what she wants." elena said.
"you can't protect yourself." damon said.
"okay, fine, then i'll go." stefan said.
"you pissed off enough originals to last a lifetime i'll go." damon said taking the invitation from elena.
