Chapter 40 (Happy birthday)

Arkin’s POV

It’s my birthday today. As usual, all I received was birthday greetings from the people who know my birthday. I’m in the mall with Thia now but she has not even greeted me. It seems like she doesn’t even know it’s my birthday today.

“Hey, what are you doing?” I asked. She is like entering every store in the mall but she isn’t buying anything.

“Ah, window shopping?” she answered picking up a t-shirt.

“Window shopping?”

“Bakit? Ayaw mo?” she asked pouting her lips.

“Hindi naman sa ayaw ko pero, I’m just not in the mood.” I answered.

“Whatever happened to rule number one.” She said picking up another t-shirt.

“Yeah right, rule number one na naman. You don’t even know what day it is today.” I said. She looked at me.

“Bakit what’s so special about this day?” she asked.

“Whatever. Bilisan mo nalang. Masakit na paa ko kakalakad. Kayo talagang mga babae…” she glared at me.

“Ano?”

“Nothing.”

“Bilhin natin ito!” excited niyang wika lifting a t-shirt. A simple couple’s shirt. Black in color and then half a shape of a heart on each side, the heart’s color is pink. I glared at her.

“No.” I said.

“Please.” She said again pouting her lips.

“No. No. No. That won’t work on me. Stop it.”

“Ang alin?”

“Pouting your lips. Yang pagpapa-cute mo.” Sagot ko.

“Bakit hindi ba ako cute?” she asked again.

“Ano bang nakain mo kanina? You’re so weird.”

“Dati na akong weird.” She answered heading towards the dressing room hila-hila ang kamay ko.

“Seriously?” I said nang nakatayo na kami sa harap ng dressing room. She handed me the shirt.

“O ayan, lumabas ka after changing. Dito ako sa kabila. Bilisan mo ha.” she said at tinulak na ako sa loob. What the? I just changed. I opened the door and there she is standing in front of me.

“Wow! Ang cute! Halika dito sa salamin tignan natin!” she said at hinila ulit ako palapit ng salamin. “Look!” excited niyang wika.

Tumingin naman ako sa salamin. I just looked at her face. She was smiling all the time today. Makita ko lang siyang masaya, masaya na din ako. Kahit pa hindi niya alam na birthday ko ngayon. I’m just happy that she is with me now.

“Yeah, right.”

“Arte nito.” she said.

“Then what now?” I asked.

“Magbihis ka na nga at nang mabayaran na yan.” She said.

“Sinabi ko bang gusto ko?”

“Hep!” she said covering my mouth. “Tama na nga pagrereklamo mo. Basta bibilhin ko tong mga to. Wala nang pero pero. Bilis! Magbihis ka na!”

Literal na nilibot naming ang buong mall. Minsan pa nga pabalik-balik kami. when it’s almost 6 p.m. she said it’s time to go home.

“Time to go home ha. Baka naman gusto mo pang libutin pa ulit itong mall?” I asked. Hinampas niya ang braso ko.
