Chapter 52 (Friendship and love)

Wallace's POV

Exactly two weeks after the accident, Drew is still in the ICU. Comatose parin siya. Every now and then, I drop by to visit him when I'm having my duty. Nadatnan ko si Thia.

"Wallace, ikaw pala."

"Kanina ka pa?"

"Ah, hinatid ko lang itong damit ni Sheena. Ilang araw na kasi siyang hindi umuuwi." Tugon niya. Sumilip ako sa loob at nakita ko si Sheena sa tabi ni Drew.

"Kamusta na siya?" tanong ko referring to Sheena.

"Kahit hindi niya sabihin alam kong hirap na hirap na rin siya. Sobrang nag-aalala siya kay Drew. Ilang araw narin siyang tinatawagan ng TV station nila."

"I'd never thought this would happen."

"Si Drew, anong mangyayari sa kanya?" she looked at me in the eye.

"Hindi ko rin alam Thia. For now, all we need to do is to pray and hope for his fast recovery."

Just then, we saw Yana in the hallway.

"Nandito pala kayo." Wika niya, sa likod niya I saw someone sitting in the wheelchair, it's Trev. "Kamusta na si Drew?"

"Still unconscious." Maikli kong wika as I made eye contact with Trev.

"Ah, check up ni kuya ngayon, sinamahan ko siya." Wika ni Yana.

"You're Thia right?" biglang tanong ni Trev looking straight at Thia.

"Ah, o-oo."

"You still remember me?" tanong niya.

"Oo. I  still remember you."

"Yes, coz I've never forgotten you. I'm sorry again for what happened 10 years ago. My driver shouldn't be driving recklessly."

"Ah, okay lang. Wala namang nangyaring masama. Thank you."

"It's really ironic that 10 years ago, you were Arkin's girlfriend but now, he is my sister's fiancé." Wika niya. I felt a little urge to stop him but I backed off. What is he trying to say? I saw that Yana felt uncomfortable.

"Kuya."

"Bakit? Totoo naman diba? Isn't she the girlfriend of Arkin 10 years ago?"

"Kuya, you don't have to..."

"Ah, okay lang Yana. Ah, s-sige aalis na ako." wika ni Thia at nagmamadaling umalis.

"Kuya?"

"What? I get scolded for telling the truth?" angal ni Trev giving me a smirk.

"Ah, sige susundan ko lang si Thia." wika ko and I left them.

"Hindi mo na dapat ako sinundan." Wika ni Thia nang maabutan ko siya.

"I didn't know ganun na pala kaarogante si Trev."

"Okay lang. Totoo naman yung mga sinabi niya eh." Tugon niya.

"Thia, look at me." wika ko at iniharap ko siya sa akin. I looked straight into her eyes. I promised myself that I wouldn't propose to her until I'm sure that she doesn't love Arkin anymore. Pero bakit hindi parin ako siguradong okay na nga siya? Why do I still have doubts?

"Bakit?" tanong niya.

"Okay ka lang ba?"

"Wallace. Okay lang ako. Bakit naman ako hindi magiging okay? Si Arkin na naman ba? Okay na ako. You don't have to worry about me all the time everytime nakikita ko si Arkin. You've done a lot of worrying in the past that I even feel ashamed of facing you. Wallace, thank you. Thank you for your concern, but I promise you, I'm fine. I'm really fine."
