Chapter 44 (The Cliff)

Arkin's POV

It's now four days post Trev and I'm still not over it. Tulala lang akong pumasok sa gate and before I knew it, nandito na ako sa tapat ng classroom namin. Tapos na ang foundation, pasukan na naman.

"Arkin!" sigaw ni Drew, he was leaning at the door and he rushed towards me. Tinapik niya balikat ko. Sumunod sa kanya sina Lian at Ace.

"Ark? What happened to you?" tanong ni Lian.

"Where were you? We couldn't find you anywhere." Wika naman ni Ace. I'm just looking at them. I feel numb.

"Just, somewhere." I said.

Hinila ni Ace ang braso ko. He looked at me like he's reading my mind.

"Ark, did something happen?" tanong niya.

"Like what?" baling kong tanong.

Their faces all looked like puzzled. "Guys, I really need to finish things. I'll just explain later." I said as I entered our room. Para silang asong sumunod sa akin.

"You weren't even around nung madischarge si Thia." wika ni Ace. "Alalang-alala siya sayo."

"I'll talk to her later." Maikling sagot ko and pretended to be busy.

"Did you know about..." hindi masabi ni Drew ang gusto niyang sabihin.

"Trev? Yeah, I met him." tugon ko.

They stared at me more, waiting for me to say something.

"And then?" tanong ni Ace.

"And then what?" kunot-noong tanong ko.

"And then what happened?"

"We just talked a bit and then just like that, were okay." I said.

"Just like that?" this time, their faces were puzzled.

"Yes. Just like that." wika ko ulit.

"Are you sure we aren't missing something here?" tanong ni Ace.

"Guys, really? Kailangan ko pang gawin itong report ko. Ipapasa ko na ito mamaya. Please just leave me alone." Wika ko. and they did. Maging nung  lunch hindi ako sumama sa kanila. I pretended to be busy just like the usual. I just went to the library. All I want for now is to be alone. Nagsimula kong inaliw ang sarili ko sa pagbabasa ng libro.

"You seem tensed." Isang boses mula sa likod ko. Nilingon ko siya.

"Yana." She looked so happy. Unlike before, her eyes are now full of life.

"I saw you when I passed by. Busy ka yata?" tanong niya.

"Ah, may tinatapos lang akong report." Sagot ko.

"Ah, these past days, napansin kong lagi kayong nagkikita ni kuya." Wika niya. tumango lang ako followed by a weak smile.

"I'm really happy that both of you are now okay." Wika niya.

Okay? Is that what he told her?

"Y-yes." Maikling tugon ko.

"Sana magtuloy-tuloy na ang pagiging okay ng lahat. Finally." Wika niya. Tumango-tango lang ako.

Nagulat ako nang yakapin niya ako.

"Thank you for being patient to my brother, alam kong marami ka ding paghihirap dahil sa kanya. I'm glad, finally magiging okay na ang lahat." She said. I hugged her back. I don't know what to say. But the words he said two days ago echoed deep down in my mind.

Two days ago.

I was rushing para pumunta sa ospital to visit Thia when my phone rang. I looked at it at napatanga ako. I answered it.
