Benny's POV

The bang makes me snatch my face away from the glass, turning my head towards the door, my ears straining against the wolf and against my skin to hear who just came in, but I pant at the effort.

Nathan stands up, shock on his face, and I find it satisfying until it hardens into a look of certainty, his body whirling told walk towards me.

"You're going to drink this, wolf, now." He tells me, his hand coming to grab my face like before, but this time I'm ready, opening my mouth to bite his hand. I watch as he snatches the hand away and curses before I open my mouth again, though this time to yell.

"Jace! Upstairs! Help!" I scream as loud as I can, grateful how that I had the water when I did, though the celebration doesn't last long, the hand connecting with my face bringing spots in my vision along with it. I feel warm wetness meet my lips and drip onto my shift, and as pain flourishes through my nose and face, I realize that I'm bleeding, the punch from Nathan making pain shoot through my entire head.

A hand grips my neck and squeezes, pulling me slightly away from the backboard before shoving me back, the back of my head connecting with the thick wood, and I groan as my mind grows fuzzy, white dots and pain gripping my conscious as I try to push the human away, the wolf bane and my injuries working hard to keep me here.

Just as I'm about to give up, the door is blow apart, the hot blast of fire flaring through the room making me gasp, and when I look towards the door, it's charred to a crisp, and all that's needed is a punch from the other side before it crumbles.

"Jace!" I try to call again, blood and tears spilling in my mouth, but I don't care, sobbing as he comes into view, his chocolate brown eyes worried and fierce when he lays eyes on me, and he goes to move towards me before Nathan goes to stand between us, the glass vile in his hand tightly.

"Havent you ruined enough, Jace?!" Nathan roars, his pale face erupting into a angry blush, and I watch as Jason turns towards him slowly before walking to the room, his steps slow and deliberate, and I see a second figure follow him through the door frame and I recognize the boy from the other day.

    Darren.

    My brother.

He goes to stand beside Jason before standing down Nathan, the distaste on his face louder than my shaking breaths.

"Move out of my way, pencil boy. I've put up with your existence for long enough. If you want to keep all your shit in tact, I suggest you leave." He tells my capture, and I flinch from the threat, but for once I understand the violence.

Nathan sets the vile down on the bedside table beside me before he turns to face Jace. "Come move me."

With wide eyes in disbelief at his stupidity, I watch as he walks towards Jason, Darren getting out of the way as the two go head to head, and my stomach churns, knowing it would always come to this.

Nathan takes a step forward and tries to punch Jason in the nose like he did me, but Jace moves out of range before punching Nathan in the ribs and stomach, his wolf strength easily knocking the air out of Nathan's body. He tried to recover, but doesn't walk away, instead, taking a messy swipe at Jason before going to tackle him to the ground, using his hands and elbows to take cheap shots to Jason's torso.

Tears well in my eyes at the scene, and just when I go to scream at Darren to help him, Jason elbows Nathan in the eye, making the human scream before he falls to the side, and Jace takes the opening to knee him in the stomach before getting on his knees to punch Nathan in the face, his hand holding his collar so he can slam his bloodied fist into Nathan over and over again.

My face pales as I watch, stomach churning, my head and sight fuzzy and stuffy from getting hit in the head a few times.

I see Darren walk towards Jace, putting a hand on his shoulder before nodding towards me, the words on his lips sounding far away and distant, dizziness catching me off guard.

I see Jason look up towards me, his hand raised in the air, aiming down at Nathan once more, before he pulls his hand back towards his body.

Jason gets up from his stance above the human, Nathan's body unmoving as Jace walks towards me. His steps are slow and gentle, eyes scared, hands raised as he nears, and it's only then that I realize I'm shaking. My hands, my body, everything, shaking with fear, for myself, for Jason, for our very Mating, and it's all I can do but fall apart when Jace gets close enough to touch me, and he does, no hesitation anywhere.

His sweet brown eyes dive into mine, his warm hand coming to cup my face, his touch easing the memories of the bad ones.

Tears stain my cheeks, and fear shakes my body, but Jace claims my lips, his soft and possessive against my own before he's pulling back to pull me to his chest, warm water falling onto the top of my head, the only evidence I have of him crying.

I turn my head slightly and see Darren standing beside the bed, his face and body cakes in sweat and blood, and I try to ignore it, not ready for the answers to all the questions popping up into my head. Instead, I focus on Darren as he smiles softly at me. "A lot of people are going to be happy you're safe. Losing you once was enough." He tells me, and I smile back at him, my eyes watery at the words.

"Thank you." I tell him, and he nods before walking out of the room, and I melt into Jace, letting me emotions fall from my eyes onto his chest as he holds me tighter, his grip strong and calming.

"I'm sorry, I let you down." He tells me and I shake my head, wrapping my arms around him softly.

"Youre here. That's all I needed from you." I tell him and just for a moment, we hold each other, and I think about his smile, happy that I remember and hoping to see it again.

My head gets more and more blurry until I fall back into the darkness, but instead of feeling scared, I fall away feeling safe, knowing no matter what happens, Jace will find me.
