Nicolas' POV
After Benny and Ryan spent some time together and took a nap, Jason and I woke up in their place.
Now I'm getting ready for dinner with my family in my room, while Jason gets ready in his. But our secret door is open, because with everything that's happened, I've found myself feeling very needy of his attention and being around him.
"You okay runt?" He asks from his room and I smile to myself, doing a tiny happy dance as I wiggle on my bed at getting my nickname back.
I remember when I was smaller, and Jason started calling me a Runt, I thought he was trying to be mean and make fun of me like people at school.
It made me upset because Jason had always been nice to me, even when my parents didn't always agree with how he was. But then he told me, after he accidentally made me cry, that runt was a compliment from him. It was a reminder that even though I'm smaller and weaker than other people, it shouldn't define who I am and I shouldn't be offended by it.
I'm a runt, I'm an Omega and thats okay.
I'm still strong in my own way, and I have people who love and protect me.
And ever since then, the nickname has had a nice soft spot in my heart.
"I'm okay." I tell him softly as I pull on my socks. One thing I hate more than anything is cold feet.
I look up when I see movement and find Jason leaning against the door between our room sad he watches me pull on my socks and set my feet back on the ground softly with a blush along my cheeks.
"What?" I ask, looking away from his gaze thats peircing me, a soft smile on his face getting mirrored on mine.
"I know I didn't really tell you, but I missed you. I missed you a lot, when I didn't have you. It feels good to see those eyes and that smile again." He tells me, a small frown forming along his brow and it makes me blush harder as I push my hair out of my face, and try not to stutter.
"Stop being nice," I tell him, not used to the soft words coming from him.
Jason has always been the CEO of tough love, and even when we were on our heat, his words were never soft, but naughty and brass and hearing him say soft nice things is making my chest feel weird.
I clear my throat, wanting the weird feeling to go away, and I stand up and slowly walk over towards Jason who's still leaning against the inside of our door.
"I can't be nice to my runt?" He asks me and I immediately shake my head and it makes him chuckle.
"It sounds weird." I confess looking up at the taller boy through my lashes, and I find him just a step away from our chest touching, his eyes holding something soft and weird in them as he looks down at me. "What?"
He shakes his head at me, and laughs softly. though his eyes don't leave and his lips turn up into a soft smile.
"Nothing I just... you just look so.... perfect." He tells me and my face flares up faster than anything thats ever happened and I begin to feel light headed and I shake my head to both settle myself and to ward away the weird energy of Jason.
"Stop it! You're being weird." I whine at him and he looks at me for a few more seconds, his gaze still soft before he shakes his head and raised his arms in surrender.
"Fine. Fine. I'll meet you downstairs." He says with a wink and I nod and watch as he closes the door ad I step back to leg him.
When he goes I push my phone into my picket, and hope that this dinner won't be like it was the day that we met. Last night was more of us getting here and getting settled and I didn't want to be bothered by anyone, and I doubt Clary and Jace wanted to be either.
And tonight is going to be when we get all the questions and we have to be careful in what to tell them.
'Do you think they would hate us if they knew?' Benny asks me, his question catching me off guard and it makes my eyes tear up a little bit as I clean up my room a little bit and head towards the door.
'I don't know.' I admit to him honestly and he doesn't ask again before I open the door and make my way down the stairs.
Clary and Jace are standing next to each other at the counter in the kitchen, and our parents are setting the table and grabbing the door, but even I can feel that something in the air, isn't right.
