Dinner that night had been a loud one. As all parties have come to find out, Maria did not like being teased. It all started with George thanking her for some recipes, which then lead to the implication of why she had given them to him in the first place. Some cheeky jokes were exchanged, and playful accusations ensued... which lead to a heated exchange, and voila, Naia and Fred now had a new mission to get the two together.
Ginny looked thoughtful, "There's just a lot of..."
"Hate? Loathing? Loud screaming for George to go to hell?" said Ron.
"I was going to say buried desires and sexual tension." Ginny shrugged, making Hermione nod. "Yes! So it wasn't just me."
"Buried desires?! Come off it! She hates him!" Ron scoffed. "They haven't stopped bickering for the past few days!"
"Oh, Ron. Do you know why little boys pull little girls' hair when they're young? Obviously, they fancy each other to some degree."
"You're mad," Ron scoffed.
"He loves stepping on her toes. It's so obvious that they're only bickering because they like each other. How you can't see that is beyond me." Hermione rolled her eyes.
"Yeah..." Harry muttered, looking between Hermione and Ron, "Some people can be so blind..."
"Anyway, she ought to be tamed today," Hermione shrugged, shuffling her bag. "They're on duty-"
"Well, she won't cause a scene in public," Harry laughed.
"I don't know..." Naia winced, "Give Maria loads of joke shop items she could possibly use on George? Sounds like a-"
"-recipe for disaster," Ron laughed, "Okay, now I really can't wait to go. Is the bloody car here yet?"
Everyone was going to Diagon Alley today to go shopping for school supplies. Naia was really more excited to finally visit the shop. She couldn't help but think that if they weren't in this bloody mess, she could have helped the twins set up. But now she was just grateful to be allowed to come in the first place given heightened security on her. Apparently, she and Harry had been given 'protection priority' from the Ministry, which included a full security package. With more disappearances and people being attacked by Deatheaters, pretty much everyone in the wizarding world was on high alert.
With the enhanced security came its privileges. They were to take one of the Ministry's flying cars today. "Car's here!" Maria yelled from the front door. Naia couldn't help but think it was all a bit much. Not only were Mr. and Mrs. Weasley going with them, but Sirius, Maria, Matty, and one more Auror for escort.
"Ah, the life of the famous," Ginny said, taking some Auror's hand as he helped her in the car. "That will be all, Jeffrey."
"It's Douglas,"
"I'm gonna call you Jeffrey."
"Ginny!" Mrs. Weasley scolded. Maria maintained her calm composure until she was sat in the car next to Ginny. "He definitely looks more like a Jeffrey to me."
"Right?" Ginny and her high-fived. Over the past few days, the two had grown rather close. What really tied the knot was their mutual dislike for Fleur, however. After a rather backhanded compliment Fleur made about Maria's hair, it all went downhill from there. Naia and Matty scolded Maria a couple of times to be nice, seeing as they thought Fleur probably didn't mean it in that way. But if Fleur could sense their dislike, she didn't show it. Still, the French witch much preferred the company of Naia and Matty throughout the days, as they humored her with the 'wedding talk' others were not so keen on hearing.
