-FLASHBACK-

JEANS POV

"It should be around here" said Armin

He looked down at his book as he rode up front next to Y/N.

"Ah! I'm so excited!" she squealed

She was practically jumping from excitement. I watched as she closed her eyes as she took in a deep breathe. A warm smile sat on her face as she let out a relaxing exhale.

"I can smell the salt" she sighed

I picked my horses speed up to ride next to her other side.

"You really think this thing exist?" I teased.

I watched as she turned to me. She shot me a grin.

"I know so! Trust me Jean!"

Of course I trust her, I always have and I always will.

"Y/N!" Armin called.

She whipped her head away from me and looked forward. I saw as her eyes began to widen. She raised up her hand to halt her group of soldiers. I turned away from her and looked forward and I felt my breathe hitch.

So it was real.

There laid an endless amount of water. I could see a dirt-like substance next to the water.

I'm guessing this is what she had mentioned before. Sand was it?

"Armin! Oh my god! We actually did it!"

She turned to Armin and grabbed his hand. She began pecking It.

"Oh you beautiful, smart intelligent boy! Thank You ! Thank You! Thank You!"

Armin began to blush profusely as he began shaking his head telling her it was just the book.

I felt a tiny wave of envy hit me.

I could go for some hand kisses, anytime.

Before I was even able to say anything, she jumped off her horse and took off running.

"Oi! You imbecile, Come back! It's not safe out there" called Levi

Y/N ignored him, flipping him off.

"Stupid" I heard him mumble.

"Let her live" I told him.

I jumped off my horse and took off running after her. She began splashing around the water. She rose some to her face and took a sip, immediately coughing it out.

"Ugh, This shit is actually salty!"

She scrunched up her face in disgust and I couldn't help, but laugh at her. I felt immediate cold water hit me as she began splashing me with it.

"Hey! Cut it out!"

Water entered my eyes and I immediately felt my eyes beginning to burn. I rubbed them as I began to cry out in pain.

"Ah! My eyes, it burns!"

I could hear her adorable laugh as she began to laugh at me. Managing to clear my eyes, I darted after her. She squealed and began to run. Close, I grabbed her waist and pulled her to me. She turned to me and gave me one of her angelic smiles.

"Hey" I smiled to her

"Yeah?"

"I want to taste the salt too"

Before she was able to speak, I pulled her in for a kiss, tasting the salt on her lips.

I pulled away as I scrunched my face.

"Very salty" I confirmed

She let out a laugh, as did I. Laughing as we stood in the ocean together.

-END OF FLASHBACK-

I blink away my memory of her.

I look away from the shell that sat in the middle of the shelf as a decoration and a remembrance of her life. It was the shell she had picked up the first time we had managed to find the Ocean.

I tried to tune in to what Armin was saying, but to my surprise he was no longer talking. In fact the whole room stood quiet. I looked over to him and to my surprise he was also staring at the shell.

It seemed like he was remembering something too.

And he was, Armin smiled staring at the shell, remembering when Y/N and him had been the first to discover sand. Their forever moment.

He remembered the way she had gotten so overwhelmed when she had finally reached the ocean. The way she ran around collecting shells with Armin, asking him if she could keep that shell because she thought it was the prettiest one of them all.

Jean turned to Levi who had his eyes also fixated on Y/N's shell.

Even with his monotone expression, his eyes swirled around as he remembered his own personal memories with the girl.

The image of her sitting by the pond dreaming about the Ocean with him. The way she would cry and the way she would comfort Levi when he was down himself. The way she joked around and the way she was caring with everyone all around her.

And finally, he remembered the day they had spent the whole day by the Ocean. Just him and her under the moon and stars watching as they reflected onto the Ocean. Both leaning on each other as she whispered. "We finally did it right hand"

It seemed as that shell had entranced the three superiors that stood in the room.

No, not the shell.

Y/N.

She always seemed to entrance everyone she meet with her bright personality.

"I-I'm sorry, I lost myself for a second" Armin finally breathed out.

"No, it's fine. I think I did too" Levi nodded

The three decided it was best to call it a night, It seemed as they all needed some time to reflect on some things and get their head straight before continuing their plan on how to keep your promise and defeat the beast titan.
