Angie dropped on her bed after dinner. She removed the paper from her bag and read. It was a light creation spell. She could really use that around the time. She spread the paper on her bed and turned off the light. It was the only way she could be sure it was working. From what they had read, the environment could affect magic. She wanted to get it right. All by herself. She concentrated on the magic alone. Like before the sparks spread through her fingers. Angie closed her eyes. She visualized a dark room. She pictured her hand holding the light. Angie opened her eyes. She had a ball of light hovering over her hands. She smiled brightly.
Her brows knitted in confusion as the ball grew larger. She was trying to reduce it from her mind but it wasn't working. The ball exploded and Angie covered her face with her hands. She raised her head slowly to access the damage. "Whoa!" The light had divided into small balls and they were floating around her room. "I did this?" She asked herself.
She swayed her hands and they all followed. It was truly magnificent. Maybe having magical abilities wasn't such a bad thing. She thought. She took the paper again to see how to end it. "Absolve the energy", She read, "that sounds painful". She tossed the paper aside and closed her eyes. She had her arms stretched out. The light balls were leeching on to each other. Angie was like the vacuum of them. She squeezed her eyes tightly as she felt it entering her system. The power died down and she fainted.
Dave was doing a room check on his siblings. He shook his head once he saw Angie on the floor. "You have a bed for a reason". He rolled his eyes. She carried her to the bed, removed her shoes and tucked her in. "I'm worried about you, sis", he whispered, "with Dad not being here, Mom getting a promotion and Felicity...you've changed. Hopefully, it's for the best".

Angie was really tired when she woke up. Who knew that magic could be so exhausting. She yawned as she stretched. She couldn't remember getting into bed but she shrugged it off. She opened her curtains and gasped. Daniel freaking Robbins was sitting on her window. Angie quickly formed a light ball but when she looked up, he was gone.
She inspected the window for more than ten minutes and she made sure that she bolted it. "Stupid ghost". She mumbled. She could hear his laughter in her room but she shrugged it off. Angie brushed, had her bath and got dressed for school. She ignored her stomach growls and walked towards the door. "No", Dave pulled her back, "Mom said I should drive you". "Yay! I feel so blessed". Angie replied sarcastically. "Now, that's my little sis". Dave roughed up her hair. Angie glared at him but still entered the car.
"Be safe". He had a stern look. "I will". She lied. It was impossible to be safe with a ghost on her tail and magic at her disposal. She kissed his cheek and got down. "Bye!" He waved. This made many of her mates look at her. "Stupid dumbass". She cursed under her breath.
"So you got yourself a boyfriend", Jason wrapped his hand around her waist, "is he in college? You're good". "I would never date that ogre", Angie spat, "that's my brother. Dave". Jason quickly removed his hand. Angie smile because she was sure he remembered when Dave punched him for calling her ugly in the hallway in sophomore year.
Angie walked to her first class. History. She hated the teacher and lucky her, he hated her too. "Miss Donners", he said once she entered, "how nice of you to join us". "The pleasure is all mine, Mr. Terrence". She added a fake smile. Mr. Terrence frowned knowing that she had won for now. "Class, we'll continue from yesterday's discussion..." Angie tuned him out. She had her phone under her desk and she was texting the other girls. They had a group chat.
A: how was the magic practice?
M: nailed it as usual
L: working on it
J: I had spare time so I learned more than one. Sorry guys.A: we cool. It was draining though.
M: what do you mean?
A: I maybe fainted after mine.
L: odd. I felt normal.
J: same here. We'll try to find out why later.A: Tom's Tanks?
M: yeah. During lunch.
L: thanks a lot guys. I have detention now.
M: *laughing emoji*
A: *double laughing emoji*Angie shook as a hand slammed on her desk. She traced the hand to Mr. Terrence. She looked down at what he just dropped. "Pop quiz?" She asked. "Yeah. You were clearly listening, right?" "Yes, sir. Clearly". She rolled her eyes. She wrote horribly on the paper. Even if she had studied, Mr. Terrence would still fail her. It was their thing.
Angie developed a sudden headache. She went to the girls bathroom. It was probably from all the stress. She washed her face and sighed. She frowned as the sink had red handprints. She checked her hand and she saw blood. She furiously scrubbed her hand under the flowing water but it wasn't coming off.
Her heartbeat had picked up speed. She raised her head and moved away from the mirrors. It had the same writing marks from the tree. "Ah!" She screamed. She ran to the door, "somebody! Open up!" She shouted. The door was locked. She pulled the knob until it broke off. Angie paused when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
She sucked in her breath and turned around. She sighed when she didn't see anything. She turned back and the door had vanished. She moved back and just like before she tripped. She felt like puking her inside when she was face to face with a dead body. The blood and the maggot coated her. She tried to stand up but her legs were tied.
The red item looked more detailed now. It was a reptile's tongue. "No!" She screamed as she was sucked into the same black hole. Angie's head was still pounding when she woke up. She touched the ground and it felt sandy. Was I not in the bathroom? She mused. She groaned as she sat up. Her vision slowly corrected.
Angie gasped as she realized where she was. She was back in the forest. To the same tree she had found those markings. "Welcome back". The dark voice said behind her.
