Jo woke up when Angie had just finished drawing the circle on the floor. "Just in time". Angie said to Jo. Jo held her head. That was her first decent sleep in a long while. "Aspirin is on the side". Lin said. Jo thanked her and took the drug. "What's going on?" Jo asked. "While you were playing sleeping beauty, we found a way to go to the past". Lin explained.Mitchell came in with the hour glass. It was a small one. Angie was worried but she couldn't be distracted. "We have until the sand pours to the other side", Angie said, "now this might be painful and overwhelming but you can't let go. We need to hold hands to land in the same spot". Lin raised her hands. "Since there are no questions, let's join hands". Angie commanded. Lin stuck out her tongue before doing as she was told.
They all felt a surge of electricity once they joined their hands. They started the three chant "light as a feather, stiff as a board" before Angie said the real spell. A blue hole appeared in the ceiling and they were sucked in. They were tossing from one edge to the other and their grip was getting loose. "Hang on!" Angie screamed but it was of no use, they had separated.
Angie crashed into dirt and grass. She groaned on her back before she opened her eyes. She was in the forest. She massaged her head as she sat up. A small blue hole opened and the hour glass popped out. Angie dived to catch it and she was successful.
She got up and dusted get dress. Hold up! Dress?! She thought. She looked at her clothing. She was indeed in a silk dress from the medieval period. She spelled the closest tree and it turned to a mirror. Her hair was silver and she had a tiara on it. Her skin was less pale but still very white. "Oh no!" She shook her head. Daniel warned her about something like this.
"Princess! Princess Isabella!" She was compelled to answer the call. Standing before her were Jo, Lin and Mitchell. Jo dressed similarly to her while Mitchell and Lin dressed like servants. "I was terrified that the news was accurate", Jo continued speaking, "I am delighted to see that you are well". Angie couldn't keep listening. She had to snap them out of character.
"Jo, it's me Angie", she started, "this isn't really your life". Jo frowned, "I am convinced that you hit your head against a rock", she said, "what in the world did that evil woman do to you?" Angie sighed. She snapped her fingers together and let the sparks fill them. Mitchell and Lin immediately stood in front of Jo like shields.
"I mean no harm", she said slowly rotating her hands, "I just wanna talk". They were a bit distracted so Angie shot the sparks into their eyes. "Guys?" She asked. "Eww, what am I wearing?" Lin asked in disgust. Angie smiled. "What happened?" Mitchell demanded. "Daniel said that the spell might put our souls with that of other so that our physical presence doesn't affect the timeline", Angie briefed them, "there would be a huge temptation to fall into character so we have to focus".
Suddenly, an arrow stabbed the tree beside them. "Run" Angie told them as they took to their heels. "When are we never running for our lives?" Lin complained. "No one said you had to run. You could always stand and get killed". Angie snarled. The arrows were getting closer with every swoosh. "We can't out run them!" Mitchell yelled.
Jo stopped running and turned around. She placed her hands on the ground and the soil rose to form a wall. "That should buy us time". She told them as they continued running. Angie spotted a cave on the left hand side. "In there!" She pointed. They all followed and entered the cave.
"Who were those people?" Lin was still panting heavily. Angie cleared her throat, "I think they were coming after me", she guessed, "it might have something to do with the magic. Maybe Isabella was the one born with it". "And no one tolerated sorcery in the past". Jo added. "We need to get back to the palace or castle to find Isabella's room. She might have the book". Mitchell said. "You guys go on. I'll rest here till it's over". Lin groaned dramatically.
Angie gasped. She couldn't remember carrying the hour glass. "Oh no", Lin was the first to notice, "I know that look. What's wrong Angie?" "The hour glass is out there". She said. All their eyes widened. "Let's spread out. Angie and Jo should go back to the castle while Mitchell and I would find the hour glass", Lin said, "I might be grossed out and tired but I don't fancy being stuck in the 1600s as a servant".
Angie made her eyes turn black. Her hair was floating in different directions as the shadows came. She had been practicing how to walk through the shadows with her whole body. Jo was channeling the instincts of the real Lady Velina to locate the castle while Angie followed behind. The guards were gone at the time they ran out so they were in the castle in no time.
Mitchell and Lin went out too. They stopped in their tracks when they saw the guards searching the area where they met Angie. "Stop!" They shouted at them. "We weren't even moving. Dumbbells". Lin muttered under her breath. "You both took flight with the sorceress. Where is she?" One of them accused. "How dare you! Lady Velina came to mourn her loss and you laid siege. That is treacherous!" Mitchell went into character. Lin stomped on her foot to bring her back. They shared a look and faced the guards again. "Our apologies". They gave room for them to pass.
Angie and Jo snuck in without any problems. "It'll take forever before we find the right room". Jo whispered. "I can filter it. Watch". Angie removed the tiara and sent sparks into it. The diadems at the top glowed and a ray of light came out. They both smiled and followed it.
Mitchell and Lin kept searching. "This would be impossible", Lin whined, "I mean... that thing was freaking small!" "We have to keep looking anyways". Mitchell said totally focused. Lin rolled her eyes and continued walking around. Crunch! "What was that?" Mitchell asked in fear of the truth. Lin slowly lifted her legs. The glass pieces laid there scattered. All the sand turned blue. "We have to go back!" Mitchell dragged Lin back to the castle.
Angie and Jo found a lady in the room rummaging through her things. "Princess Isabella!" She held her chest from the surprise, "I thought you were dead". "Stop with the pretense", Angie sneered, "you ordered to have my head so that you could take control". Jo was worried because Angie was slipping. Maybe something happened to the hour glass. She concluded in her mind. The woman wiped the innocence off her face and frowned. "You can only boast for now. His majesty will have a bounty for your head soon enough". The woman said confidently.
Angie made her eyes turn into slits. "You will confess to your crimes and leave this castle and never again will you terrorize those that are magic born". Angie spat like fire. The woman nodded and walked out of the room. She was already feeling dizzy but Jo caught. "You okay?" Jo checked. "I think that's what Isabella would have wanted to say", Angie was drained, "the book should be in the dresser".
Jo quickly found it and made a duplicate. Almost immediately, the doors barged open. "We barely have a minute. The glass broke". Mitchell announced. "We better get going then". They joined their hands and said the chants. A big light exploded and the blue hole transported them back.
