Xander smirked as he saw the girl turn and walk away. He couldn't see her but his senses were too heightened for her stealth. Xander came out of the alley and walked to his house. He hung his coat and went to the master bedroom. "Did someone miss me?" He asked as soon as he came in. Jason didn't make any sound.Jason was still horrified. He should have seen it coming but he was sick. His emotions had been flying around for a while now. He thought it had something to do with Grayson being Alpha that was why he kept quiet. He never knew he would be a prey to kidnap. Besides, Jason was the strongest guy on the team. He could have escaped but doing that would not only hurt him if he was caught.
Xander wrapped his hands around Grayson's waist and kissed his neck. "How was your day?" He asked. It was just perfect. I'm kidnapped and having the time of my life, you idiot! Jason said in his head but stayed silent on the outside. "The silent treatment huh?" Xander smirked. Jason still didn't say a word. "At least, if you don't care about your health", Xander leaned closer go to his ears, "think about the baby".
That line normally sent Jason flying for Xander's throat. He had learned that Xander loved the sick banter between them so he stayed quiet. Xander fumed at this point. He grabbed Jason and pinned him to the bed. "What makes him so much better than me?!" He barked. Jason didn't even flinch.
Xander sighed. He traces his fingers on Jason's cheeks. Jason was disgusted by his touch and his mind kept screaming at him to stop Xander. Xander smirked and traced lower till he got to Jason rock hard abs. Jason actually sucked in his breath. "That's a start", Xander whispered with a smug smile, "but after tonight, you'll completely forget about that mate of yours". He clamped a hand on Jason's mouth and reached for his zipper.
"Can you give me a second to explain?!" Angie yelled after Mitchell. "I saw and heard enough". Mitchell said harshly. "It's not what you think!" Angie yelled again. Mitchell stopped walks, "it's not what I think?" She was furious, "you were handing our spell book to some human that was clearly blackmailing you about who knows what. Is it still not what I think?!"
"So, maybe it is what you think but I have a reason".
"What reason, Angie? You didn't even trust me enough to say something. I freaking thought you were cheating on me!"
"I wouldn't do that and I was trying to protect you. This whole Jason thing has everyone on edge. I couldn't bring it up". Mitchell chuckled sadly. Angie was confused by the action. "I just realized that it would have been better if you were cheating", Mitchell said bitterly, "because then...you'd have an excuse for keeping this a secret".
Mitchell ran off without giving Angie another chance to speak. Angie ran a hand through her hair. Mitchell had a point. She wasn't thinking straight these days. John's finally words ran in her head and she couldn't help but think that their world was haywire. She sighed and began to walk home.
"You think it's safe to go home?" Veronica asked as she came down from the big rock. "I don't know". Grayson scratched the tree again. "Mo...I mean Candice should be done by now". Grayson looked at the girl and smiled. "She's your Mom too", he said, "I begged her to get rid of you but she didn't. I am so unlucky". Veronica playfully punched his arm, "you love me", she said confidently, "I'm the best kid in this world".
Grayson wanted to tease her but his head started hurting. "Gray! Grayson!" Veronica yelled as she ran to his side. Grayson was in between his shifts. "Grayson! Look at me!" She screamed. He did and she regretted it. His eyes were red. It wasn't just his irises and they looked like fire.
Grayson put on of his hands on the floor. The hair on his skin rapidly increased. His clothes were reaping apart. His fangs grew three inches longer and he let out a roar. His palms and feet changed to paws. Veronica had never seen a transformation like that before. She pulled out her phone and dialed Jo. Jo was like their healer now. "Shit!" She said when Jo never picked.
Before she could call someone else, Grayson or the big wolf threw her on his back. Veronica was lucky to have held onto his fur because Grayson broke into a sprint. "Grayson stop!" She yelled. It was in vain. Grayson's head was filled with thoughts of Jason. Somehow, Jason had made an Alpha call. All Grayson's instincts were shouting at him to save his mate.
Veronica had to duck many tree branches. She left hand mistakenly let go and phone crashed to the ground. "No!" She panicked. She struggled but managed to hold on tighter. Grayson came to an abrupt stop. Veronica jumped off immediately. The wolf quickly changed to human. Grayson was in tears. Veronica crouched down and held him. "He called out", Grayson sobbed into her neck, "I wasn't fast enough". Even with her shaggy look, she just comforted her brother.
Lin held her knees and panted. She heard a crunch from behind her and she ran forward. She was on her way home after her failed spying when she heard the howl. Lin was convinced that all the spirits in Bresten were awoken by it. Her mind told her it might have been Grayson or Levi. They were the strongest in the pack.
Currently, she was running from something. She didn't have to guts to look back and find out what. A hand closed her mouth. "Hey hey...shhh", Levi said into her ears, "it's just me". Lin nodded and relaxed. She turned around and hugged him. They weren't defined yet but they cared about each other. "I've got you". He said softly and kissed her head.
Lin eased in his arms. "The howl? That wasn't you?" She asked. "It was Grayson. It only happens after an Alpha call", he explained, "I think Jason reached out to him". Lin held her chest. Tears that she couldn't control fell out of her eyes. "You're safe now", He wiped her face, "nothing's gonna happen". "It's not...I thought it was you", she cried, "I don't...I can't bear to lose anyone else. I can't!" "You won't lose me. I promise". He hugged her tighter.
Angie wasn't deaf to the howl. She wanted to go and find out what happened but she couldn't. Her legs were stuck. She looked at the floor and saw two blue chains. Her eyes traces it to the person behind her. "You know, Angie", the blackmailing girl started, "I knew you were gonna do something like this". "I don't have time for your games". Angie snapped. "Oh Angie", the girl smirked, "I'm also done playing games". Something hard collided with the side of her head and her vision went black.
Jo had been throwing up in the toilet when she heard the howl. She flushed and came out. She ransacked her bag for her phone. She saw the missed call from Veronica. She quickly called back but the phone was switched off. She flung open her closet and grabbed a jacket.
She was about opening the door when she threw up again. The sight of the black blood made her stomach churn. She yanked the door open only to see that her Mom was about to knock. "Mi hija". That was the only she heard before passing out in her Mom's arms. "Jo! Johanson!"
