Candice was looking out the window of her room when she heard the knock. She wiped her face and went to open the door. Her smile faded when she saw Ellen. "If you're here to brew more threats", Candice frowned, "save it. The court hearing is in too days". "I'm not here for that", Ellen said sharply, "I'm dropping the case". "What?!" Candice was sure she was hearing things. "May I come in?" Ellen asked politely.

"Where is your son?" Ellen asked as she took her seat. "I sent him and sister out", Candice answered, "I don't need them seeing me sulk". "Sister?" Ellen raised her eyebrows.

"I adopted her. I love the kid. I couldn't let her go".

"Must be nice having the Blazes' fortune".

"Not exactly", Candice was cool with her reply, "Veronica will decide what she wants she's eighteen. Till then, we're not touching anything". Ellen instantly felt bad. "Don't apologize", Candice added as if she read Ellen's mind, "I know you don't like me. Anyways, what would you like? We have juice. Don't worry it's not orange. Jason said you're allergic".

Ellen smiled. That information  warmed  her heart. Jason still loved her to remember that and Candice was kind enough to remember. "So, what would it be?" "Apple juice, thank you". "Classic" Candice chuckled. "Excuse me?" Ellen was confused. "It's just...Jason also mentioned that apples were your favorite. They are mine too. Make yourself at home".

Ellen was feeling terrible at this point. She should never have filed a case to begin with. Candice returned shortly with two glasses and a bowl of cookies. Another work of Jason's.
Ellen thought. "Here you go". Candice said as she took a seat. Ellen took a sip, "hmmm! Homemade", she commented, "it tastes really good". "Thanks. It was my mom's recipe", Candice smiled, "that woman loved apples. She could make almost any dish with it".

"If you tell me your Mom is Talia Broshaw, I might pass out".

"She is. How'd you know?"

"My Mom was her best friend. She moved from Bresten. Coming back here was her deathbed wish. She was hoping your Mom would have built an empire of a restaurant". "She would have", Candice gave a sad smile, "death got her first I guess". "I am so sorry". Candice nodded. She was changing her mind about Ellen and that was good.

Mitchell and Lin were still at the Ice cream place. Lin had engaged into a conversation with Xander. Conversation meant Lin talking his ears off. Lin had a reason behind it. She never spoke about anything uninteresting. An honest person who didn't like talking would just frown or scowl but a fake would fake smile. Xander was fake smiling at her.

The manager came out to signal that it was closing time. "We should follow him". Lin whispered when they were outside. "If he's as bad as you think, then that would be suicide". Mitchell analyzed. "Jason is worth it". Lin said stubbornly.

Mitchell rolled her eyes. She was about to agree when she saw Angie sneaking off. She couldn't see her face with the whole black theme going on but she recognized that blonde hair anywhere. Lin saw her too. "I can do this", she told Mitchell, "besides, making two people invisible  is tasking". Mitchell gave a curt and went after Angie. Just then, Xander came out through the back door. Lin sighed and turned invisible. Here goes nothing.

Earlier, Angie had explained their family to Mike. Mike had his memories but she was conscious to leave out gruesome details of Nolan's magical escapades. Mike didn't want to believe her. It seemed impossible that the woman who trained him all his life was someone else in truth. Angie thought she had broken him when he left her room without uttering a word. Out of frustration, she wore darker clothes and left the house.

Mitchell watched Angie. She looked like she was on her way to school. Angie didn't bother to check if she was being followed. She just wanted to get this night over with. She stepped on the school field and sighed. She went to the bleachers and moved to the top row.

"I'm the one making demands", the girl's voice reached her ears, "yet you're the one showing up late". "I had a thing to handle". Angie said harshly. "Girlfriend?" "None of your business". Angie snapped. "It is more of my business than you think". The girl finally came to light.

Mitchell felt her heart pounding. She was right. Angie was seeing a girl behind her back. She wanted to earth to open up and swallow her. The betrayal was a knife in her heart. She knew that Angie was coming to terms with their relationship and  she wanted to take things slow but... Mitchell wanted to storm off but she decided to listen in on their chat.

The girl had brown hair. Dark brown. Her eyes were a sharp brown. It could have been mistaken for amber. She had the same skin tone as Angie though. She was pretty. "You look like you've seen a ghost", the girl laugh, "hello?" Angie shook out of the trance. Something about the girl screamed familiarity but that was impossible because Angie had never seen her before.

Angie closed her hands and red sparks conjured the book. Mitchell's mouth flung open. She spotted the golden feather instantly. What was Angie doing with the book? And why is she giving it away? Mitchell was perplexed. There was something that she was clearly missing.

The girl smiled as she traced her fingers over the book. Angie noticed her movement. She acted like the book was a long lost pet. The girl opened it and frowned. "What is this?" She demanded angrily. "That is the book just like you asked". Angie retorted. "How do you expect me to translate this?!"

"Figure it out. You said you wanted the book and you got it".

"You're playing a dangerous game".

"No, I'm not. I've seen you face", Angie crossed her arms, "you're human. You can't hurt me. I gave you the book so that you can get out of our lives for good. This whole blackmail is over". The girl wad fuming but her face suddenly changed to smug one. Angie was confused. She saw that the girl was looking behind her. She turned as well and also fell over. "Mitchell" she whispered.

"I went to see that therapist", Ellen broke out into an explanation, "I wanted to ask if it was common for people like Jason to run off". Candice tried not to cringe at Ellen's choice of words. "I overhead his phone talk with another parent", Ellen continued, "I was throw off. The way he spoke about this kid...I was hurt for whoever he was. It was then I realized that maybe, that was how I sounded to Jason". Candice didn't interrupt.

"You were right. I love Jason not because he's my son. He's a good boy with a bright future ahead and I want to be there for him every step of the way", Ellen was tearing up, "I'm so sorry, Candice. I let my boy think I hate him and I wasn't even considerate that you just lost your husband. I-I-I..." "It's okay", Candice held her hands and smiled, "I'm just glad that you've seen the truth". Ellen hugged her and sobbed, "I want my boy back". "We'll  find. I promise".

Lin was doing a pretty good job. Xander looked over his shoulders a few times but he didn't see anyone so he kept walking. Lin made her footsteps as light as possible. She was so glad that she was right about him being creepy.

Xander made a right turn and entered an alley. Lin hated dark places. She sighed and kept muttering 'for Jason' in her head. She entered the alley too. Xander made a left turn and Lin did too. Suddenly, Xander turned to the right and he vanished. Lin took a step back. She inspected the whole area but Xander was no where to be seen. He had vanished into thin air. Lin grabbed a handful of her hair and cursed, "shit!"
