Angie had been kicking the container for minutes. Her legs were throbbing but she was angry. "It's no use". Goldie said in a whisper. Goldie had been rubbing her arms since she woke up. She was super nervous but mostly for her dads. She was sad that somehow her existence put them in harm's way. They lives with enough crap already from haters to homophobes to psychos. She was fee up and scared. If something ever happened to her, it would crush their hearts. She didn't want that to happen but she was very useless.
"Dang it!" Angie swore as she gave up on hitting, "I'm really sorry you got here. We were supposed to protect you and your dads". Goldie started crying. "Hey hey", Angie hugged her, "we'll be fine. Shhh! Don't cry". Her heart reached out to the kid. She was almost thirteen. She had no mental preparation whatsoever for what was to come.
Suddenly, the container started opening. Three men and a woman stood there. They had removed their hoods but the numerous scars on their faces made it hard to give a description. They dragged the two girls outside. Angie immediately felt a gush of strength.
Before she could harness her powers, a pen knife grazed her skin. Angie felt numb. She couldn't move any part of her body. They had paralyzed her. "Cowards!" She yelled. None of them gave a reply. The girl was very unpredictable to them and they couldn't risk losing such an asset.
Lin should have been pacing around but she was on the chair with both Mitchell's and Jo's heads waiting for them to wake up. She had tried healing but the results were yet to show. "This is the worst one yet". She told the Moms. Tatiana was on the brink of tears. She was held dearly by Sophia.
"There must be something we can do", Celine spoke up, "tracking?. Mind communicating?" "I've tried", Lin answered, "she's alive and conscious but there's a block. Whatever they did to her is blocking her powers. She can't hear me". "The obvious place they would be in would be the woods". Irene said. "Half is Bresten is a forest. A search like that can make us too late". Lin shook her head.
Almost immediately, Jo and Mitchell started to stir. Lin's puffy eyes went wide. She was ready to cry for joy. Jo made a little groan before opening her eyes. She was confused to see her Mom in front of her. "What's happening?" Jo question in a croaked voice. Sophia attacked her with a hug and Tatiana did the same to Mitchell.
"Shit!" Jo cursed as she remembered the ordeals of yesterday. "Please tell me Angie is safe". Jo rushed out. "She's alive. Safe?...now that's something entirely different". Jo sighed and her face dropped. Everything had gone south in the blink of an eye.
"Mind if I join in?" They all shrieked at the voice. Standing behind the Moms was Daniel. "Daniel?" Lin was stunned, "how are you here?" "I can't stay for long", he informed, "but this is about my daughter too and I can't lose her". "I thought I'd never see you again". Tatiana gave a small smile. "I missed you too, T. I miss all of you". Daniel replied.
He brought out a map from his pocket. Sophia collected it. "Despite the block, I was able to pick up strong magic", he announced, "the problem, however, is that I found two spots. I don't know why. What matters is that Angie and the girl are at one of them". "This is more than enough, Daniel". Sophia hugged him. Celine, Irene and Tatiana joined too.
Lin couldn't help but smile. He was a big brother to all of them when they were younger. They lost him because his own twin killed him. Such a terrible twist! "This was a lovely reunion but I have to head back", Daniel said sharply, "please be safe and bring my Angel back to me". They all nodded.
"We're going for a battle. The worst one yet", Sophia said, "we're not gonna bury anyone this time". "Agreed", Tatiana added, "my babies have been harmed enough". "Our daughters' deaths won't be in vain". Celine muttered with more anger than sadness. Irene nodded to that. "Well then, let's show these posers what we go". Lin smirked.
Lin dashed to her house. She removed the huge wallpaper in the garage. "Still here". She smiled to herself. "Lin? Where have you been?" Jonah said from the door. "Shit! Jonah!" Lin went to help him. "I can stand just fine", he said, "the nurse went to get some groceries. What's been happening to you?" "I'm sorry, Jonah. It's just...everything is going downhill but we're hoping to end this".
" How can I help?"
"You can help by staying here and not dying".
"Come on, Lin. I want to have my shot at the bitch that killed Mom". Lin was shocked by his words. She never told him about it. "I'm not mad at you for not telling me", he said, "I'm mad 'cause you grieved alone". "I'm sorry, Jonah. I was protecting you". She had tears in her eyes. "Don't you dare cry on me, Lin Shin Ye!" He snapped, "I am your older brother. I might be blind but I'm not useless". "I know you're not", Lin sniffed, "and if you really wanna help, call the cops when I send you an address. We might need an ambulance". Jonah nodded and kissed his sister's head. She was so brave.
Minutes passed and Lin was back. "Pick a weapon", she said.dropping the bag, "any weapon. I am gonna find an outfit". "Call me when you get this! Damn!" Jo removed the phone from her ear violently. Lin looked at her for an explanation. "The pack", she breathe, "I've been trying to call Grayson and Jason. Straight to voicemail". "What about the lair?" Lin asked. "Empty" Mitchell responded as she walked in, "maybe it has something to do with the rogues".
"We can handle this without them". Sophia said reentering the room. "Oh my! Y'all look like you're going for a movie scene". Mitchell cheered. "It does feel a bit weird but it fits the occasion". Celine confessed. The women were in catsuits. The badass one for assassins. "I'm just wondering why you guys have those". Jo shrugged. The women avoided their eyes and went into light talk.
Angie's fingers twitched. She sighed and wiggle her toes. The paralysis was gone. She looked around. They were too many to fight off alone. She would survive it. She tried her mind communication but nothing happened. It was still blocked.
She had been watching the psycho killers chant and draw things on the floor. Goldie was tied to a tree that seemed to be in the middle of it all. Her hair was damp from sweat and she had dark circles under her eyes.
A sound of struggling made Angie slightly tilt her head. It was Mr Dhawnren. "Mr Dhawnren!" Angie screamed. John's eyes grew wide as he heard it. No! No! No! I failed! He thought. He had endured the torture so that they would never get to Angie. She had the powers to do their will and more. She could end the supernatural world if so pleased.
Nolan was standing in a corner rubbing her arms nervously. Angie had never seen Nolan fidget like that. A large dagger was placed under Mr Dhawnren's neck but it didn't move. They were waiting. For what? Angie wondered.
John knew he had to use his last minutes wisely. "Ahythe iusjo pridfan muster hydgga!" He yelled out to Angie. Angie let her eyes glow red and the words became translated in her ears. "You are the final hope", he was saying, "you can destroy this coven. All the covens. Restore the balance to nature. Find the Alpha mate before the next sacrifice. Please, please...do not be deceived by..." Angie interrupted him with questions. She could barely keep up with what he was saying and it needed to make sense.
Out of the blue, Goldie screamed. Her voice was so loud that Angie was sure it woke the dead. Angie looked back at Mr Dhawnren. He gave her a weak smile as the blade cut open his throat. She was in shock nor because of the brutal murder but by Nolan. Nolan had flinched and even looked away. What is happening? She was utterly confused.
The evil people started a chant. Angie decided to stand up. She saw that they were all in a circle and their hands were together. The brown dirt slowly had reddish orange flames attached. The fire spread out in lines. Angie's eyes traced and it looked like a star. A five-pointed star was a Pentagram. Lin had it read from the book about supernatural beings at the beginning of all these. A pentagram was the witch's star.
The blood, the scars, the human sacrifices...it was all starting to link up. These were witches. The real dealers of black magic and darkness. She looked at her position. She was in one edge of the star, a witch was in the second, Nolan was in the third, Mr Dhawnren in the fourth, another witch and Goldie in the middle. This wasn't an ordinary chant...it was a ritual.
