Jo woke up with a headache. She was hearing voices. With the lives that they had, hearing voices was never a good sign. "How nice of you to grace is with your presence". She heard the sarcasm dripping from the voice. "Lin" she whispered as she sat up.

"Are you feeling better, mi hija?" Jo's eyes widened. "Mom!" She happily hugged her. "I missed you too". Sophia smiled. "You're okay". Jo was searching her face. "Thanks to you, my dear", she said, "how are you?" "It could be worse", she shrugged, "I'm just so happy to see you".

"I can't imagine if it was me". Tatiana said walking in. "That doesn't mean she should be out there". Irene argued. "How did you handle Felicity's death?" Tatiana shot. Irene stayed silent. "Exactly", she continued talking, "she needs to cool. I'm not exactly in the place to console her".

"Celine went out?!" Sophia was shocked, "and you let her?" "Yes, Soph...I let her", Tatiana replied, "that was her only kid". "Nolan is out there!" Sophia argued, "you think it's a great idea she loses her life too?" "I don't want her to get hurt! She's a friend but right now, what she needs is space". "What she needs is protection from that psychopath".

Angie frowned and left the  room. The other girls followed. "Don't try to convince me that she's not a  mad person or that it isn't my fault". Angie said crossing her hands. "It's actually not your fault". Lin shrugged. "And we know Nolan is mad", Jo said firmly, "I peeked into my Mom's head earlier. She was thinking of your grandparents". "My grandparents?" Angie was confused. "She killed them".

A bombshell. It dropped heavily on Angie. This changed everything. She killed her own parents. She thought. She remembered what Daniel had said about he killing him. She would have killed him too. Nolan wasn't her mother anymore. She wasn't human. She was evil. Pure evil.

"We need to stop her". Angie's fist were clenched. "How? We have to many things going on". Lin pointed out. Jo snapped her fingers and brought their mapping board. "We've solved Mr Dhawnren's part but what about the others?" Jo shrugged. "You forgot to add Lyon to that board", Mitchell hated the memory, "he was working for someone who wants revenge". "Just what we needed". Lin rolled her eyes.

"We start from the pack", Angie said, "we help them with their hunter problem, we win them to our side. The search for Nolan would be wider. I bet they have a grudge against her too". "Why don't we multi solve? Lin and I could find Lyon". Jo suggested. Angie shook her head, "that's her plan", she said, "separating us. Our link would be weaker so we stick together till we burn everything down". "So inspirational! I can see a class president". Lin cheered and laughed.

Kimberly groaned and turned away. "After being an asshole, I wouldn't want to see me either", the well built woman said, "to be fair, I saved your life". "Thanks". Kimberly was ever sarcastic. The woman nodded and sat on the opposite bed. "The name is Princess but I go by Big P". Kimberly smiled and said, "what was daddy thinking when he named you that?" "He thought I would marry a prince. Fairytale crap".

Kimberly sat up. "How's your head?" She asked. "I'll live. It was just my amnesia healing". Kimberly brushed it off. She had actually been miserable in thoughts. She knew that she had betrayed her friends but she couldn't remember the extent. She also recalled how she was throw at Seo by Nolan. She was literally a sheep to the wolves.

"I just thought I should warn you before they get here". She forced herself to listen to Princess. "Who?" She was confused. "I knew you'd be clueless", Princess chuckled, "you killed the leader of Debeouk". "Are you trying to get somewhere?"

"Gangs aren't strong because of their ruthless killing. It's because of loyalty. Having hundreds of men at your beck and call".

"So?"

"Once you kill the leader, it's either they'll come after you to kill you or to make you their new leader".

Kimberly was dumbfounded. All those nights she let Lin go there, she had no idea how the system worked. "I'll leave you to ponder that". Princess stood up. "One more thing", she was by the door, "you tell anyone my real name and I'll pound you". She left Kimberly to drown in her thoughts.

"I thought you said magic was evil". Grayson suddenly said making his parents pause their eating. "And I have not been proven wrong", Rex dropped his fork, "why would you bring that up?" "I don't know. Maybe because some chicks at school have magic powers and nothing bad has happened because of them".

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. To be honest, they looked pretty normal". Candice gave Rex a look. She was.pleading with her eyes. "He has to understand". Rex said firmly as he stood up. "What do I have to understand?" Grayson raised his brows. "Sweetie, you should never have brought that up". Candice scolded. "I did nothing wrong", Grayson had made his mind rigid, "she could make a freaking table appear out of thin air. That could help us".

"There is more to magic than conjuring". Candice was regulating her voice. "What else? Levitating? Flying? Raising from the dead? What else, Mom?!" The loud thud startled both of them. Rex had dropped a pile of newspapers on the table beside Grayson.

He went through the news. The pictures made his stomach churn. "That...is a result of magic", Rex said, "it brings nothing but death in its wake. Those girls you mentioned...how many deaths do you think they have witnessed?" "No. I know them. They would never kill people. More or less like this".

"I never said they killed them".

"You're confusing me".

"I said the magic is the cause. It's darkness. They didn't kill those people but someone else who has similar powers...did". Rex sighed, "Blood Hound and his team found more bodies yesterday. It's only a matter of time before the whole of Bresten falls victim". "I might not understand the concept of war but fire against fire is a fair match". Grayson said.

His ears tingled. He could hear footsteps. He took in a breath and caught the scent of the person. "I'll go get it". He told his parents and stood up. "He's not wrong Rex", Candice held her husband's hand, "I feel like this girls have prevented more than you think. You have seen them in action".

"I know, Candice but they are naïve. They have no idea the extent of their powers. They would only harm themselves if they try to fight".

"Then fight with them. Teach them how to be stronger. Bresten is our town. If Nolan wins, she will destroy our homes as her prize. I don't want that and I don't think you do either". She left the table.

"They'll be more than happy". Grayson smiled at Jason. "Dad?" Rex turned around with a blank face. "So...you're Jason?" He asked plainly. Jason became nervous. "Yeah. Good evening sir. Mr Tryler". "Please, call me Rex", he gave a half smile, "and you're more than welcome to spend the night". "Son, get him settled", he added, "in the guest room. I don't want you giving my wife nightmares". "Dad!" Rex laughed and walked away.

Jason was flustered. "He didn't mean anything". Grayson cleared his throat. "Can you..." "I think..." They said at the same time. Jason chuckled and let Grayson lead the way. "It hasn't been used in a while so please bear it". Jason smiled at the room. "I can't believe your Mom let you stay over again. I thought you'd be grounded". Grayson joked.

Jason went stiff. That was just a remix of the truth. Grayson obviously picked this up. "She didn't let you stay in house, did she?" Grayson suddenly asked. Jason closed his eyes. His phone conversation with her in the money was terrible. She had used several words on him. He still went home thinking she was just in shock. She wasn't. She was furious at herself for giving birth to such a disgusting being.

Jason didn't know that tears rolled down his cheeks. Grayson was there in a swoop to wipe them away. Jason pulled back, ashamed that he had been crying. "You have a right to be say, Jas", Grayson's voice was soft, "I would be too if my Mom kicked me out".

Grayson held his hands. "Remember what I wanted to tell you this morning?" Jason nodded in response. "You're my mate, Jason", he said, "my soulmate". "How do you know?" Jason's eyes were glossy. "I felt it. There was this invisible force pulling me to you", Grayson cupped his cheeks, "I knew that if I couldn't leave without you". Jason leaned into his touch.

"When do we strike?" A pale skinned girl asked the leader. The black man cocked his gun, "we strike when I say so", he replied, "now, rest". "I will not rest until every single one of them is dead". The girl spat with detest. "That is the fire we need to win", he smiled, "and we will. Tomorrow night".
