"I can't ask her to do that," Obito wasn't budging on this. "I haven't even told her that he's the one who messaged Shisui."
Standing in the small room, Zabuza cut his eyes to Kakashi. "I understand you're hesitant," Zabuza looked back to Obito, "but I think this is the best option."
Obito crossed his arms defensively, "What makes you think that he's even telling the truth? That he's so willing to tell us where the cameras are. The mansion and penthouse are both compromised. I'm sure the office is too."
"That's why I need her to do this," Zabuza said. "My boss wants to put her back on the payroll. The case-"
"Not in a million years," Obito cut him off. "You're fucking insane if you, even for a second, think I'm going to let her go back undercover in any way."
The two males knew what he meant. Madara would suspect that Y/n would be out to get him. For the FBI, or herself. Kakashi thought for a moment about what the best choice here was. None of it. None of it was good. This entire situation was a total cluster fuck.
When Kakashi stepped forward, Obito knew he was going to argue. "It's her decision." Obito stared at Kakashi in disbelief. "I don't want her to do it any more than you do," Kakashi stepped closer and placed his hand on Obito's shoulder, "but you know she'll hate you if you don't tell her about this."
"She doesn't have to find out," Obito snapped as he shrugged off his best friend's hand. "Neither of you has to tell her what he said. She doesn't have to know about the case. Hell," he lifted his hands in exasperation, "she doesn't have to know he texted Shisui."
Shaking his head, Zabuza countered, "What better way for Madara to manipulate her." He had a point. "If Madara manages to get ahold of her and tells her that he's the reason she's alive, we're all dead. But, then, if he tells her about the cameras and his request, forget about being dead, she'll bleed you dry."
Obito felt as though no matter what steps he took, Madara was a hundred ahead. This proved that. While Madara couldn't have known Y/n would miscarry, he used this situation to his advantage. Like he did with everything in his life. In the family's life. Always calculating. Always manipulating.
"I'll ask her," Obito said as he ran a hand through his hair. "Are there any leads on where he is?"
Zabuza shook his head, "No," he grumbled something under his breath. "Rasa hasn't said a word about what's going on in Suna. And back home, it's been quiet aside from the kidnappings. None have happened since the one here, though."
Kakashi pulled his phone out, "Shikamaru was able to pull some footage off a traffic cam near the last abduction. I'll have him send it to Kisame to review. They're running the partial plate through the database."
Stepping towards the door, Obito said, "I'll let you two get to work," he knew it was pointless to press the issue of Madara.
"Are you going to tell her?" Zabuza asked sternly.
Looking over his shoulder, Obito said, "About his request, yes. About the text, I don't know."
Zabuza sighed. They all seemed to be sighing more. "You need to before she talks to him. He will mention it; you know that, right?"
Turning his head back to the door, Obito huffed out, "I know."
Zabuza and Kakashi didn't bother responding. Obito made his way out of the consultation room and made his way to Y/n's room. She was scheduled for discharge later that day, as long as she was able to keep her lunch down. She was tired. She wanted to go home. Obito wanted her home. Though, it wasn't safe necessarily.
