The second you stormed out of his apartment Bucky had been trying to wrap his head around what Steve had done. He knew Steve had a crush on you but he never thought he would go this far to have you. He was his best friend. After throwing things across the room in anger, he knew the only way to calm down was to go and talk to Steve himself.
"Steve!" Bucky shouted walking into the compound. Tony was nowhere to be seen thankfully, he didn't have the patience to put up with his remarks as well. He turned the corner to see Steve and Nat in deep conversation. "What is it Buck?" Steve asked, completely oblivious to what Bucky had found out.
Bucky stood in front of Steve, glaring at him. "Is it true? You sent that photo to Y/N?" Steve felt his stomach drop. He didn't regret telling you about Bucky and Sharon, but he did regret seeing how much it broke your heart. "She deserved to know." Steve told him. Bucky walked up and got in his face. "Not like that!"
Steve rolled his eyes. "You were never going to tell her."Bucky couldn't believe that his best friend had screwed him over in that way. Steve was sat there trying to play the good guy when Bucky had known exactly why he'd done it. "And you having a crush on her had nothing to do with it right?"
Steve took a few steps back putting some space between them. "It wasn't like that Buck." He lied to his best friend, he had done it in hopes that you would see Steve as a shoulder you could cry on. Instead you'd hated him more than ever. "You were the one that kissed Sharon remember. That wasn't me.""Yet you led her to believe I'd done more than that! Never once did you try to tell her otherwise!" Bucky shouted at him.
Steve could feel himself getting more and more wound up at Bucky. You and Bucky had always bickered, it never seemed like you were happy. "You two were never happy together!"
Bucky couldn't believe what he was hearing, Steve had no idea how happy you two were. Sure you argued a lot, but that was just the way you were together. It didn't dampen the love between you. "You're wrong!" Bucky got back up into Steve's face. "She is everything to me!"You had walked in not long after Bucky had, hearing most of the argument. Seeing Steve admit to what he had done, fuelled your rage like never before. Not being able to hide any longer you walked out, Nat gave you a soft smile and a nod. She knew you'd been there.
"I'm guessing this is a bad time."
You saw Steve's face go pale as he offered to explain himself. You held up your hand, silencing him as you got closer. You stood where Bucky had mere moments ago. "You've done enough!" You sneered at him. What no one expected was the sound of your hand finding Steve's cheek. You'd poured all your anger and resentment with that slap. Steve had tears in his eyes, as he realised how much of a mistake he had made. He was so full of guilt he couldn't stand it any longer and walked off without another word. You turned towards Nat seeing her proud smile, you stuck your finger up at her before you both laughed.
Bucky was prepared for round two of you two arguing but it didn't come. Instead you looked at him. "Buck. Drink. Now."
With that you turned and headed to the bar in the compound, you knew Nat would keep everyone else away. It took Bucky a few seconds to understand you wanted him to come with you. He jogged to catch up with you as you got the the elevator. The whole way over you'd thought of what Loki had said about loving more than one person. As the elevator doors closed you could feel the tension between you both. When Bucky touched his fingers to yours just gently you could've sworn sparks flew off them. You both settled down with a drink and Bucky looked at you, raising his glass in a toast. "To the most dysfunctional marriage." He smiled. You clinked your glass and took a sip of the vodka inside. "It wasn't all bad." You smiled back at him, placing your drink down.
"I've missed you." Bucky blurted out, not able to hold it in any longer. You smiled, you had missed him too, something you hadn't admitted to yourself for a long time. You couldn't say it back. "Buck..."
"I know. You're with Loki now." Bucky had jealousy written all over his face, it was something you thought you wanted at one point. Now not so much.
"I love him Buck." You needed him to know, it was no longer just a game for you anymore, it was real and something you desperately didn't want to lose.
"I know." Bucky looked down, not being about to bare seeing the look in your eyes as you admitted that. You saw that he was avoiding your gaze, you gripped his chin gently lifting his eyes to yours. "I love you too Buck." You felt horrible for loving them both, for wanting them both but you couldn't help it.
