Five Years Later

Tony heard the car pull up as his daughter squealed in excitement. "Daddy look it's Auntie Y/N!" Morgan jumped out of his grip and ran straight towards you.

Crouching down, you opened your arms as she collided with you. It never failed to amaze you with the love she had for you. "Hey kiddo." You held her close, cherishing her small arms as they wrapped around you.

"Where are Nathaniel and Becca?" She asked noticing the lack of your own children.

After reuniting on Asgard you'd all decided your life was on Earth. You'd come back, moving back into your house just outside of the city. For a year you debated on telling Loki and Bucky your dreams to be a mother despite what the Red Room had stolen from you. They'd beamed with pride when you eventually worked up enough courage to tell them.

Being an Avenger pushed the adoption process through, a year later and you were a Mom to two beautiful children. Nathaniel came first, not a doubt in any of your minds that you would name him after the one person that you wished more than anything could meet him.

Becca was born six months later, her mother was almost relieved to know her child would be protected by parents that would live thousands of years. She couldn't provide for her and you promised that in the years to come should she wish to reach out and find out how she was doing that you would happily let her. Her name had come from Bucky, wanting to name her after his sister.

You stood up, brushing the unruly locks out of Morgan's face. "They're at home with their Daddies, I'll bring them with me next time I promise."

Morgan nodded. "Did you bring me the goods?"

"Of course I did." You used your magic to reveal the box she loved so much in your hands. "Come on, I need to check with Mommy first."

You gave Tony a quick hug, giving him a look that told him you needed to talk to him once you'd seen Pepper. He nodded as you walked inside. You could hear Morgan excitedly talking to Pepper as you entered the kitchen of their cabin.

"Go and wash up sweetie, dinner will be ready soon. Then we can discuss your treats."

Morgan bounded up the stairs, leaving you and Pepper alone.

"You really need to stop calling chocolate donuts 'the goods'." She teased while she continued to prepare the salad for dinner.

"I could never do that to her, she loves our code words too much."

"You're as bad as Tony for spoiling her."

Morgan was your niece, it was your job to spoil her with sugar. You weren't the one that had to deal with the come down from the sugar high.

"And yet you let me do it anyway."

Pepper laughed, knowing she'd never stop your relationship with Morgan. Not to mention your house was the only place Morgan would sleep at to give her and Tony some peace every now and then.
"So why'd you come all this way anyway?"

"Got an idea to run past Tony." You shrugged, hiding the hope that Loki had planted in your heart.

"You staying for dinner?"

"Always do." You wink over your shoulder at her as you slip out the back door.

It doesn't take you long to catch Tony up on the rough idea Loki had given you yesterday morning in bed. A glimmer of hope at repairing the hole that still sat in your heart.

Tony sighed as he poured you a drink. "Why do you have to meddle? You finally have the life you wanted."

"Tony, you know why." You took the drink from him, sitting in the wicker chair on his porch.

Tony sat beside you, worry evident in the lines on his face. "You have the husbands, the kids, if this goes wrong..." He knew how hard you'd fought to get some form of normal back in your life again, the last thing he wanted was for you to lose that, or for him to lose you.

"We can't keep the stones under lock and key forever." You pleaded with him.

Tony knew you were right, the stones needed to be returned to where they should be. Separated across the galaxy, but the stone you were referring to was just slightly outside the realms of rational thinking.
"It's not science Y/N, it's wishful thinking. I don't know what you want me to say."

"I just want to know if you think it's worth a shot." You were desperately clinging onto the shred of hope you had left, but without Tony's support you wouldn't go.

Tony took your hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I don't see why it wouldn't work."

"That's all I needed to hear."

Tony shook his head, he knew there was no talking you out of this. Despite everything you were still a Stark and the trait you both shared over everything else was your stubbornness.
"What do Reindeer Games and Manchuria Candidate think to this?"

"It was Loki's idea actually."

You were writhing around the bed, so lost in the nightmare that neither Loki or Bucky could get through to you. Bucky looked at Loki, begging him to do something even if that something was going to make you unhappy.

Placing his hands against the sides of your face he joined you in your nightmare. You stood on the top of Vormir, Red Skull explaining the price of the stone.

"A soul for a soul."

The nightmare shifted to you watching Nat fall to her death on repeat over and over again. Loki pushed further into the nightmare, making it so you could see him.

"My love it's okay." He gripped your face making you look away from Nat and at him. "It's okay, it's a nightmare. Now I need you to focus on me."

When his lips pressed gently against yours, it was enough to break through the pain pulling you out of your nightmare as you sat up with a start. The words Loki had heard had replayed over and over in his head. Whilst you laid with your head in Bucky's lap Loki suddenly sat up straight.

"A soul for a soul."

"Loki?" You placed your hand on his arm.

"My love, I think we can get her back."

Tony felt oddly better after you'd explained everything more thoroughly. There was one thing playing on his mind though. "It's been six years Y/N, what has brought all this on now?"

"I never stopped thinking about it, but then we adopted the kids and life spiralled into this beautiful chaos. Now I just...I need her by my side."

In typical Tony fashion, he saw straight through what you were trying to hide from him. "What aren't you telling me?"

You stood up, pacing back and forth. "It's Dr Cho, she may have found a way to repair what the Red Room did to me."

"Are you saying what I think you are?" Tony knew you loved Nathaniel and Becca, they were your children in every sense of the word. He also knew how much your heart stung every time you'd see a pregnant woman.

"There's a possibility of me being able to get pregnant Tony."

Tony stood, walking over to you before wrapping his arms around you. "I just want to protect you."

"I know," your voice was muffled as you rested your head on his chest. "But I need your support with this big brother."

Tony knew a lost cause when he saw one. There was no way you were going to let this go and he had to come to terms with that. If he couldn't stop you, the least he could do was make sure you had the best of everything, giving you your best chance at coming home safely.

He pulled back to give you a smile. "I'll sort everything. Go home and tell them the good news."

You apologised to Pepper and Morgan before rushing off home to tell them what you'd hoped for for six years.

You were going to bring Nat home.
