You watched from the meeting room, the cameras around Loki's cell showing him in a way you had never seen him before. You were sat in Bucky's lap, his arms wrapped around you, trying to calm you down. He knew how much you were blaming yourself for this. He placed a soft kiss on your forehead and you curled yourself further into him. Listening as Nick Fury spoke to Loki, his voice echoing through the speakers. "Think yourself lucky you're not on your way back to Asgard."
You watched as Loki looked directly at the camera, a smile you didn't recognise spread across his face. His eyes void of any love or emotion. "I want to see her."
Bucky wiped away the tears you didn't realise had fallen. "It's not him doll."
You nodded your head, you knew this, you looked up at Bucky and could see the pain in his eyes. You pulled his lips to yours, it was all you could think of to make him realise he wasn't alone in this. To make sure he knew that you loved him, you didn't want his insecurities raising their heads while you were all dealing with this.

"Until we know your mind is your own then no." You both turned your attention back to the screen watching Nick and Loki. The venom in Loki's voice as he looks at Nick turns your stomach. "Bring her to me, she can see for herself." You try not to shudder at the way he talks about you, as if he doesn't care. No matter how much you told yourself it wasn't him, it broke your heart nonetheless.

"Y/N? Is that possible?" Steve's soft tone brings you out of your mind, looking around the room you notice everyone is watching you. You take in a deep breath, trying to sound more confident than you feel. Getting up from Bucky's lap you start pacing around the room. "In theory, if he truly lets me in, I can see his mind as much as he can see mine. We'd be able to talk and I'd know the truth."
Nat studies you, the way you avoid eye contact with everyone. "What aren't you telling us?"

Never before had you hated the way she knew you so well. Before you could answer Bucky interrupted. "If he's under someone else's control. They'd have access to her mind too."
You narrowed your eyes at Bucky, he was only trying to protect you but this was something you needed to do. You owed Loki this. Again you went to defend yourself but this time Steve interrupted you. "It's too big of a risk Y/N."
You noticed Tony stepping forward to say something, with a simple well constructed glare you temporarily stopped whatever was about to come out of his mouth. You were still angry with him and he knew not to push it. "I'm the only one he'll trust to do it."

Bucky walked up to you, wrapping his arms around your waist. "That's not entirely true doll and you know it." You knew that he trusted Bucky enough to do it but after everything he'd been through to get rid of Hydra from his mind, it was a risk you weren't willing to take. You placed your hands either side of his face. "No. Not after everything you've been through. I won't take that risk. I can't lose you too."
He rested his forehead against yours. "And I won't risk you." His tone was much softer than you expected it to be and you knew he was holding back. He knew that pushing you right now wouldn't get you to listen. You noticed the tear sliding down his cheek and quickly brushed it away with your thumb.

"I'm sorry James but I have to agree with Y/N. After everything with Hydra, it's a risk we can't take." Bruce very carefully voiced his opinion, not wanting to annoy anyone.
"Your arguments matter not." Thor stepped up, coming to your side to show his support for you. "If my brother has asked for Y/N, then she is the only one that he will let in." You were thankful for Thor's support, reinforcing the friendship that was growing between you.

"I'm not letting that psychopath inside your mind Y/N." Tony shouted interrupting everyone. You felt Bucky stiffen beside you. He hated the way Tony spoke about Loki, like he'd never made mistakes before. He hated the look in Tony's eyes when he spoke about the man you both loved, it angered him beyond belief. You placed your hand on Bucky's chest as he took a step towards Tony, you knew that look at it would not end well for anyone involved. You gave him a smile letting him know that you had this under control.
