I have been best friends with Haku Shota for years. We have known each other for a while. I am starting to feel like he is more than just my best friend. Maybe I am starting to get feelings for him. Shota and I have known each other for many years so maybe it feels kinda weird in a way to be crushing on him. Shota and I are close and we tell each other a lot of things. But I haven't told him that I like him in that way. I am too scared to as I'm afraid I might ruin my friendship with him. Our best friendship. Shota is my best friend in this whole world and I never want to lose him. I never want to do or say anything to lose or upset him. He means a lot to me. Almost everything. Shota and I just met today. We went out for something to eat and it was really nice. We enjoyed having lunch and spending time together. We are leaving now and going home. "Bye, Shota. That was fun" I say. "It was, Y/ N. I'll see you soon" he said. "Yeah see you soon, bestie. Take care" I reply. I smile and hug him. We both make our own way home. My brother picks me up and Shota gets picked up. My brother asked me about our time together today. I was distracted and my thoughts were on Shota. My brother told me to snap out of my trance. He could tell I was thinking about someone. When I get home my phone rings over dinner. I answer it and it's Shota. My mom dislikes us having phones at the table so I sneak off. She looks at me though. "Hey" I say. "Hi, Y/ N. Sorry to call but I just want to talk to you again" Shota said. "Awwww that's sweet of you" I say. "Today was fun. I wanna hangout with you again soon" he said. "Sure thing. We are besties so we can see each other how often we want" I reply. "Yeah that's right. I love having you as my best friend" Shota said. "Me too. Sorry, Shota. I better go. We are having dinner. My mom is not happy" I reply. We finished our call and I went back to the table and we carried on having dinner

A few days later and Shota and I are hanging out again. We decided to go and see a movie today and then we are going to the frozen yogurt place after. It's one of our favourite places to go as best friends. The movie has just finished now and we are going to the frozen yogurt place which is nearby now. "The movie was good. Don't you think, Y/ N?" Shota said. "Yes it was really good. I enjoyed it a lot" I reply. "Me too. Now let's go and get so fro yo. Just what we've been waiting for" Shota said. "Yes definitely. Let's go" I say. We walk a block down to the frozen yogurt place and wait in the line to be served. We get the usual frozen yogurts from there. We never change what we have. Always stick to the same ones. We get our frozen yogurts and then take a seat in the parlour and eat our frozen yogurts. "As good as always" Shota smiles. "Definitely as good as always" I reply. "No doubt" he said. So we carry eating our frozen yogurts and enjoying them together. Shota looked cute as he had yogurt all over his face. "Look you got a bit there" I say wiping the ice cream from his mouth. "Thanks" he smiles. There then was an awkward silence between us for a second. "Y/ N" Shota said. "Yes, bestie" I reply. "I really really love hanging out and spending time with you, Y/ N. It's the best thing ever" he said. "Yes me too. I-I-I wish we could be more..... more close" Shota said. "We are close, Shota. We've always been close and that's all that matters" I reply. "Yes yes it is" he said. To be honest I think he was going to say he wished we were more than friends. Maybe one day we will but I can tell that he was going to say that. Shota was nervous to say that like me. Maybe we were both just as nervous as each other

Shota's POV

Y/ N and I are still the best of friends and we have known each other for years since we were young so it's kinda weird that I feel more more about her. I've always been shy around girls especially my best friend Y/ N. I've always been so shy around her. She is one of the best people I know. Always there for me when I need her the most. I feel like I can trust her more than anyone else I know. She is almost like family in a way. I want to tell her how I feel but I'm not sure I can do it just yet. I have been nervous about it for a while. Y/ N is acting in a play in school so she's asked me to come. She is one of the main roles. She got the part she wanted. We go to different schools now. I am looking forward to seeing Y/ N in this play. I know she's going to do really well. I am going to meet her before the show as I've got her some flowers to give her to wish her luck for the performance but I know she won't need much luck as I believe in her to do so well. Anyway I arrived at the school and go in and it was very quiet. Nobody around but me. Y/ N told me to wait in the main corridor by the lockers and she'll come out and find me. I waited a few minutes till I saw her appear. "Hi, you" she said. "Hello, superstar" I laugh. "What you got there?" she asks noticing I had something behind my back. "For you to wish you luck and I know you love flowers too" I say. "Shota, that's so sweet. No really. You shouldn't have" Y/ N said. "Yes I should have" I reply blushing. Y/ N and I talk for a bit before she had to get ready for the show. "I should go. I'll see you later after the performance" Y/ N said. "Sure. Good luck. You'll be amazing" I say hugging her with all my might. I go and take a seat and wait for the play to start a bit later. Her parents were there so I go and say hi to them. It lasted 1hr 15 minutes and it was really good. I really enjoyed watching my bestie today. She did amazing. Y/ N said she'll meet me outside after when she's got changed and ready. "You did so well. I am freaking proud of you" I say. "Thank you and I'm glad you could be here to watch my first performance" Y/ N replies. "Well I wouldn't have missed it for anything" I smile. I didn't keep her long as she was tired and wanted to get home after doing so well. So glad I got to see Y/ N tonight in her play

A few weeks later and I'm taking Y/ N on a romantic surprise date. I'm getting her dinner on the beach. I'll tell her to come down to the beach but she won't know what is happening. I'm not really tricking her or anything. Just telling her to meet me at the beach and I'll have a whole surprise ready for her. She'll never know till she's there. I told her to meet me by the beach in about half an hour. I am there getting set up and ready now. Can't wait to see her. Have candles that I'm lightening. My friend is picking up the food that I ordered for Y/ N and I while I set up for Y/ N coming. She should be here soon. I'm excited and nervous to see her. I think I'm finally ready to tell her how I feel. Hopefully I'll be able to do it without hesitation. My friend drops off the food and I'm almost ready for Y/ N then. She texts when she's a few minutes off. I see her walking towards me and I get up and walk to her. "Hi, Y/ N" I say. "Hi, Shota. Wow! What is this?" she asks. "It's for you. Sit down with me and we'll tuck in" I reply. "Ohhhh wow! This is so sweet of you" she smiles. We tuck into the food and talk and make good eye contact with each other. "Y/ N, there is a reason why I did this for you tonight?" I say. "There is" she replies. "Yes of course there is. A big one actually" I say. Y/ N smiles at me and listens. "I feel something more than a best friendship about you. I think I have feelings for you. Feelings of love maybe. You've got that 1 thing that I just need" I say. "I think I might do too but it's kinda different since we have been best friends for almost all our lives" Y/ N said. "But it doesn't matter, Y/ N. I like you. You're my first love and that's all that matters" I say. "Yes" she smiles. I take her hand and we walk along the beach together and it was nice and sweet.
