"Hey babe?" A deep voice comes from behind me.

I turn to see Calum leaning against the kitchen island bench with his arms crossed loosely over his bare chest.

"Hey," I smile at him. "I thought you were getting into the pool with the boys?"

"I am," he nods and frowns. "I just wanted to ask you something while we're actually alone."

"Should I be worried?" I place my glass down onto the bench and fully turn to look at him.

"Well, I... I've just been thinking and... You were a... Um, it was your first time when we had sex, wasn't it?" His voice is full of uncertainty as he fiddles with his fingers. "I mean, you were a, uh, you were a virgin, right?"

My stomach drops to my feet and my heart stops beating. I thought he didn't realise.

"Yeah," I gulp through my lie. "Why?"

"Um, well," he scratches the back of his head nervously as his cheeks tinted pink. "Don't girls, um... Well don't they, you know... Bleed, uh, after their first time?" He clears his throat awkwardly while avoiding eye contact with me.

"Oh," I raise my eyebrows and blush furiously. "Um, mostly I guess? But uh, sometimes girls lose their virginities other ways... Um, like I know a few stories where some girls have, uh, lost it while... While riding a horse..."

Calum's cheeks turn even more red as he looks up at me with a weird expression.

"Not that that happened to me!" I quickly squeak out as my eyes widen. "I've never ridden a horse so... And- and apparently sometimes if the guy is gentle enough, um, the girl doesn't... You know, uh, bleed. So maybe that's why I didn't, um... You know, because you were- um..."

"Oh, um, thanks? That's, uh, good to know, I guess."

"Uh, no problem?" I fiddle with my fingers. "So, yeah, you were my first."

He looks up at me and smiles nervously before looking back down at the floor. Neither of us move as silence falls over the whole room. I know he doesn't fully believe me, I wasn't really convincing at all. I bet he knows I'm lying, but I have to keep up the act. I can't tell him about Jimmy and Johnny, not yet. I don't even know how to tell him anyway.

"This is really awkward, isn't it?" I ask after a while of silence.

"Yep." Calum answers quickly, scratching the back of his neck again.

"Okay, well, um, great talk," I laugh anxiously. "But I'm just going to go."

"Oh, yeah, me too. I got to go... To the boys, so..."

"I'll see you later then?" I bite down on my bottom lip.

"Yeah," he nods. "I'll see you later."

We both quickly turn around and go our separate ways, me muttering embarrassed swear words as I walk.

"Oh, Jordan?" Calum calls after me. "If you want to come and hang out with the boys and I you can."

"Thanks, uh, I'll be there in a second." I call back and then run up the stairs.

I mutter things to myself about how stupid I just was as I grab my phone and make my way back downstairs. I have nothing better to do so I might as well hang out with the boys. But as I made my way outside, I realise what a stupid decision that is because the boys are in the pool. The pool. I hate pools.

"Hey, look who decided to show up!" Ashton grins.

"Hey, Ash." I smile at him and rest my arms up on the pool fence, the smell of chlorine unwillingly flooding up my nose.
