Leann's POV
"I'm sorry but I'm not going Mom!!!" I protested.
"Yes you are and that's final."
I sighed and put my hair up in a bun. After giving myself one last glance in the mirror, I walked out of my room and made my way downstairs.
We had to have dinner with the family down the street today and I was not looking forward to it. We were new here and my parents really wanted to get to know the other neighbors. I did too but at the same time, I totally didn't. Ya know what I mean? Good. We're on the same page.
So anyway, I was a bit shy so it was a bit more of a challenge meeting new people. I tended to get a little nervous and was always a bit timid.
We got to our neighbor's house and soon as we stepped foot on the doorstep, the door swung wide open. We didn't even get the chance to knock. A blonde woman greeted us and pulled us into a hug. She chatted with my parents for a quick moment before introducing herself to me.
"Hi! I'm Stormie!" The grinned, pulling me into a hug. "You must be Leann. I've heard so much about you. It's so nice to finally meet you, Sweetheart."
"Hi." I smiled. "Nice to meet you too."
Okay. Good. I met the mom and she was nice. A tall guy walked and stood up next to Stormie. Since our parents had already met our neighbors they were talking up a storm.
Eventually, the guy looked over at me.
"Hi." He smiled warmly. "I'm Mark."
"Nice to meet you." I replied. "I'm Leann."
"Nice to meet you too, Leann." Mark said. "If you want, the kids are all sitting out on the deck but you can feel free to hang out wherever."
"Oh okay. Thanks."
I walked out to the kitchen and pushed open the glass sliding door. Five pairs of eyes were fixated on me and I smiled shyly.
"Hi." I said quietly.
"OMG!!! You're Leann, right?!?!?" The only girl at the table squealed. Her blonde hair danced a little bit in the breeze. I giggled nervously and she ran up to give me a hug.
"I'm Rydel, by the way." She introduced herself. "It's so nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."
Goodness, was everyone in this family the actual definition of 'good manners'? They were all so sweet and kind.
Rydel cleared her throat and subtly gestured to me. "Boys..."
"Oh right. Sorry." The tall, thin, blonde guy smiled bashfully. "I'm Riker."
A boy with auburn hair ginned at me. "I'm Ryland."
"How's it going?" The brunette with longer hair gave me a 'sup?' nod. "Rocky."
I giggled a little bit and by now, I'm sure I was blushing a bit.
The door slid open and another blonde-haired guy stood there.
"Oh there you are. I was just about to come find you." Rydel chuckled.
The boy with the blonde hair stared at me for a second before introducing himself. "Hi. I'm Ross."
"I'm Leann." I said quietly. By now, I'm sure I was blushing really hard because everyone was staring at me....and also because this Ross kid happened to be very easy on the eyes. They all were but Ross was just somethin' else. I don't even know.
The table was set and dinner was placed on the table. It was really good and I had lots to eat.
"You wanna go swimming in a little bit?" Rydel offered.
"Umm sure. I brought my swimsuit cuz I knew you guys had a pool."
"Perfect! Come up to my room. You can change in my bathroom and we can talk."
We helped clear the table and then I followed Rydel upstairs. "This isn't actually my room because my brothers and I just moved into our own place that's like right down the street so you should like totally come visit us because that would be so fun and we could like hang out everyday and you could-" She paused. "Oh my gosh. I'm rambling aren't I?"
I giggled. "Sorta yeah but I don't mind it because it's cute."
"Aww. You're cute."
"Thanks." I laughed.
We got changed and I decided the best way to keep myself from liking Ross was simply to pretend not to like him.
I didn't tell Rydel my grand master plan because in some way or another, she'd totally freak out.
We all headed back outside and made our way down the wooden deck's staircase. I was standing kinda near Ross and I was slowly trying to get in the water. The others had just jumped in but that's now how I liked to do things. Ross was also slowly getting in the water too. Out of the blue, he let out a small shriek and fell into the pool. When he resurfaced, he swam to the side.
"Oh my gosh. Did Leann push you in?" Rocky laughed.
"Yeah." Ross lied.
"I didn't even touch you." I argued.
Everyone rolled their eyes as if they didn't believe me. Alright then. I think my crush on Ross has quickly faded. He was a bit of a brat in my opinion. We spent the rest of the evening playing random games and just chilling in the pool. Ross was being super annoying and the worst part was that I couldn't even reliate in the slightest. My mom would always give me looks and remind me to be polite and kind. Ross happened to be very good at being an annoying pooptoot behind people's backs so he never got caught. I was like really mad about that. Once, Ross poked my side so I was about to give him a nice shove but my mom was looking right at me. She shook her head and mouthed 'no' so I stopped but ugh. If I could just get him back....
The six of us ended up heading out into their yard since apparently they had a new trampoline. We were having a contest to see how high we could jump and at one point, it was me versus Ross. After a few seconds, Ross just went flying off the trampoline and landed in the grass. I stopped jumping and froze like everyone else.
"Oh gosh." Riker said. "You okay, Dude?"
Ross slowly sat up and looked around. "Wait...where am I?"
Rydel gasped. "Oh no. You might have hurt your head."
"A little." Ross replied as he stood up. "I just need to ice it."
We all walked inside and Stormie rushed over to us when she saw Ross holding a hand to his head.
"Oh my stars!" She exclaimed. "What happened?"
"Did Leann hurt you?" My mom, who was standing by Stormie, asked.
My jaw dropped. Why would she think that? It's not like I was secretly plotting horrible, detremental, severe revenge on Ross. I was just secretly plotting revenge. Nothing detremental or severe.
"Awww. Maybe Leann can sit with you while you ice your head." Stormie suggested with a subtle wink. "You all can watch a movie too, if you want."
We decided upon the new version of "101 Dalmations" and I went to sit on the floor but Rocky and Riker sat very inconveintly. Their long legs hogged up most of the space on the floor and if I scooted over, I wouldn't be able to see the TV.
I sighed at sat on the couch next to Ross. Riker smirked up at me and winked. Heyyyyyyyy. Ugh. These people.
The movie went on and Ross's head seemed to be completely fine. There wasn't even a bruise.
"Faker." I whispered.
"I know." He chuckled.
"You did all that on purpose?" My whisper got a little louder.
"Shh." He replied. "And of course. How else was I supposed to get you to sit next to me?"
"Oh my gosh."
"Well excuse me for being in love with you." He mumbled.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Can ya'll not?" Rocky asked, a bit annoyed by our whispering.
Both Ross and I shrugged and continued whispered.
"I'm sorry I've been super annoying to you." Ross sighed. "I guess I kinda wanted to trick myself into thinking I didn't like you so my mind was doing everything in it's power to persuade my heart that I wasn't in love with you."
"Aww. I'm sorry too...." I grinned. "And I did the same exact thing. I guess you can't really avoid loving the person that you fall in love with."
He chuckled and lightly kissed my cheek. "Guess not."::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
