Samantha's POV

My girl squad and I were going to see R5 during their Sometime Last Night Tour. I was so stoked about their new album and I really liked the faint 80's rock sound. Hearing all the new songs made me more excited and I was super hyped because they'd sound even more impressive live. Ryland, The Heirs, and Jessarae opened for R5 and it was seriously one of the best days ever. I didn't want it to end and when it did, I was almost sad but as Dr. Seuss once wrote, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

With the rate of my happiness of what had just happened, I'd be smiling like an idiot for years. Since we didn't have Meet'n'Greet tickets, we kind of just hoped we'd somehow run into the band. The concert was in the afternoon and it was at a music festival so the idea of running into them wasn't completely farfetched.

We decided to ditch the music scene to beat the crowds get some food. There were food trucks lining the huge amount of land that the festival was held at so we only had to walk a little ways straight ahead. While we girls wove through the mini-crowds and gatherings of people, we sort of held hands so we didn't lose each other. I knew we looked kinda ridiculous but hey, at least no squad member would be left behind.

Never mind.

I spoke too soon. **insert long sigh of despair here**

I stood on my tiptoes trying to see over the many, many flocks of humans. I couldn't find my friends at all so I decided to get some food and then I'd sit down and call or text them. Obviously, my priorities were straight since I was getting food first.

I wasn't really paying attention to the line (because I was looking at Tumblr on my phone because Tumblr is a way of human survival) for the food truck so I got nudged by several hungry people when it was my turn.

I gave a shy and apologetic smile before stepping up and giving my order of fries, chicken strips, and a soda. I began to take money out of my wristlet but the guy broke into a warm grin and shook his head.

"The guy in front of you wanted to pay for you meal."

"Aww. Are you serious?"

"Yup."

He put random money in the cash register and handed me the change. My food was ready in moments and I took it with a "thank you".

Now, if only I could find the sweet guy who paid for my food. So help me, if he's hot or cute or just generally attractive, that'll be like bonus points. I mean seriously dudes and bros, listen up; buy your girl her favorite food. She will love you forever.

I nearly spilled my whole tray of food as I tripped over absolutely nothing. Someone reached out and practically caught me. Thank goodness the French fries were okay.

"Thanks." I smiled and looked up. I'm pretty sure I either went as pale as a ghost or as red as a tomato. Either way, the real Ryland Lynch was smiling right at me.

"You're welcome." He said. "I'm Ryland. What's your name?"

"Samantha. What's yours?"

He gave me a funny look but graciously waited for me to realize my mistake.

"Oh. Never mind. I already know your name." I looked down at the grassy ground.

"It's cool." He chuckled and lifted my chin so I was looking at him again. "No worries. So...umm...I just got something to eat too. Would you wanna sit with me and-"

"Yes!" I nearly squealed.

"Alrighty then." He laughed and we sat on the ground in the shade of one of the few trees.

"So during my set, I saw you in the crowd." Ryland began.

"Are you serious?" I asked. "Ugh. Did I look stupid?"

"No. You were just enjoying the music like everyone else. Except you looked way more beautiful." He winked. "Just sayin'."

Wait. Hold up. I think RyRy be flirtin' with me.

I smiled bashfully, not sure whether I should thank him or keep smiling like an idiot.

Since I was finally sitting down, I was able to text my squad and tell them where I was. I sent a selfie of Ryland and I and got several excited replies. Oh. So now they care about their missing squad member? Hmm. I see how it is.

More bands performed at the festival and Ry and I kinda danced around and enjoyed the music.

Alt-J was onstage at the moment and they were performing their song "Breezeblocks". It was kind of an alternative song but it was perfect for slow dancing. Pfft. Not that I wanted to dance with anyone in particular. Certainly not Ryland. That'd be weird....

As if on cue, Ryland held out his hand, "Wanna dance?"

Oh thank God it's getting dark and Ryland can't see me blushing for the millionth time.

I took his hand and nodded profusely. He put both hands around my waist, I held onto him, and we slowly swayed to the beat of the music. He stepped back momentarily and I was confused until I realized he was trying to spin me around.

"No. Wait..." Ryland laughed. "Samanatha, I spin you."

"Oh riiiiiiiiight." I giggled.

We continued laughing and dancing as the sun set. After getting tired out, we stopped dancing and stood there staring at the vibrant hues in the sky.

I looked up in a slight state of awe. "Wow. The sky looks so pretty."

"Not nearly as gorgeous as you, though." Ryland took my hand.

"Ry, my cheeks hurt." I whined. "Stop making me blush and smile."

He leaned down kissed my forehead. "Sorry to make your cheeks hurt again but...I love you, Samantha."
