___________________Anna's POV
I heaved a sigh as I grabbed my bag. Today was supposed to be a snow day here in New York City but there ended up just being a slight delay. Honestly, high school was a bit of a hassle. I was a senior so I survived all twelve grades and was nearly finished.
I went to a public school it was crazy and stereotypical. I walked in hoping there was some kind of break to the everyday monotony and walked out still wishing for that. I had English class last and I just remembered that today was the day that we had to write something to present to the class...or something like that. I wasn't really paying attention when the assignment because I was counting down the seconds till I could be free.
"So as many of you know, today's class will be extended for an hour..." Ms. Callaghan, our teacher carried on. "And we have a special guest who's gonna come in and assist you with your writing process and your speeches."Oh gosh no. I actually liked Ms. Callaghan. She was young, sweet, funny, fashionable, quirky, and was just a great teacher. Everyone rued the day, whenever she was on leave or we had a substitute teacher. The subs either knew too much or too little or just didn't like us...and they weren't Ms. Callaghan so...
When I looked up, a tall, handsome blonde guy was standing next to our original teacher. My heart skipped a couple beats and I immediately grew extremely self-conscious. I knew exactly who it was and hid my R5 guitar pick necklace. I totally missed him walking in or else I would have fixed my hair and clothes. I didn't care that I was in baggy sweatpants and a hoodie before but now, I kinda sorta did.
"So guys and girlies, please give a warm welcome to..." Ms. Callaghan turned to the blonde. "Should they call you Mr. Lynch or Ross?"
He chuckled and I blushed at the sound of his laugh. "Ross is cool."
"Awesome sauce." She giggled. "So please give a warm welcome to Ross..."
Everyone kinda smiled and waved sheepishly. One girl in the back fainted and Ross went pale.
"Is she okay?" He asked with wide eyes.
Awww. He's a sweet gentleman too. Cute.
"So Ross is going to help those of you that have senior speeches. You will go to the library down the hall with him and work on those..."
I zoned out. Oh my gosh! I have a senior speech! Never have I been so happy about public speaking. Ever. Never ever.
It turns out that there were only five girls (including me) were giving speeches and the two guys who had to give speeches were excused for soccer practice so this should be quite interesting. So to introduce you to the girls, there's McKaylee who's extremely innocent and sweet and kind and everybody loves her. Gianna's got a quick temper but despite that, she's super sweet. Joanna was the rich trust fund girl who literally had everything she could ever dream of. Kalani's bright, smart, and gorgeous...but she knows it so that's always very colourful.
We all silently followed Ross to the library and gawked behind his back.
"Umm...Ross...it's the other way..." I pointed out quietly.
"Oh." He giggled nervously. "Well thanks."
We turned the corner and I had to keep lifting Gianna's chin because she was eyeing him up and down...mostly down...
"What?" She whispered. "He's got a great butt."
"Oh my goodness." McKaylee laughed.
I rolled my eyes playfully and laughed. Gianna and McKaylee were two of my best friends. We balanced each other out and I was a good mix of them both. It was wonderful.
"So..." Ross said as we sat at the huge round table. "Let's play a little game before we start, yeah?"
"Totally. I love games." Joanna winked.
"Umm...great." He shifted awkwardly. "So tell me your name, age, whether your an early bird or a night owl, and the most dangerous thing you've ever done...oh and your favorite hobby or sport or whatever and if you wanna skip one of the questions, that's totally cool too. I don't wanna make you uncomfortable."
"Awww. So kind and cute." McKaylee whispered but he heard and smiled at her. McKaylee turned pink and I suppressed a laugh.
"Cool...who's gonna start?" Gianna asked.
"You can if you want." He smiled kindly.
"Okay...so I'm Gianna. I'm eighteen. I'm a night owl. I despise mornings and don't function well in the mornings...like if school was at night, I would have like all A-pluses. The most dangerous thing I ever did was ride my brothers motorcycle without even mowing how. My favorite hobby is scrapbooking and I dance."
"Cool stuff, Gianna and such a pretty name." Ross grinned. "Biking is boss and so is dance."
Joanna was quite excited to go. "So I'm Joanna. I'm sixteen but I'm just really smart so I'm a senior..."
LIAR. YOU WERE HELD BACK TWICE!!!
"My dad owns like a billion dollars in cold hard cash so that's always good...umm...I'm a morning person. I can't stand night owls because they always waste their lives away and if you ask me, I just think they're horrible people but...ya know."
She glared at Gianna and shrugged. Gianna looked like she was about to punch Gianna's face all the way to London. I mouthed 'calm down' and G-girl took a deep breath.
"Anyways, where was a I?" Joanna batted her eyelashes. "Oh yeah..umm....the most dangerous thing I've done was swim without waterproof mascara."
Ross snickered a bit and tried to keep a straight. "I'm sorry. Carry on."
"Ross." She flirted. "Stop laughing."
Once again, Gianna was quite ticked off. It was quite hilarious. Joanna ranted about herself and tried to flirt for a good five more minutes. In those passing seconds, I decided to study Ross. I was directly on the left side of him so I tried not to be too obvious. He was quite gorgeous if you ask me. He had kind eyes and perfect blonde, fluffy-looking hair. His smile was adorable and his dimples were sure to be the death of me. His laugh was quite contagious and his mannerisms were dorky yet amusing and interesting. Not that outward appearances mattered that much but, he literally had the most perfect skin ever. Like he was basically an angel. I decided to analyze his outfit since Joanna was still blabbing.
Ross had on a bunch of different necklaces and bracelets. He was wearing a black jacket, a black shirt, and white super skinny jeans with black Converse with a star print on them. I swear if his jeans were any tighter....
"Anyway...so that's me in a nutshell." Joanna concluded.
"What size nutshell was that cuz.... Goodness gracious...that was long." Ross joked.
Joanna gave a fake laugh. "Oh stop..."
"Also sorry if you think I'm horrible...I'm a night owl..."
"Aww. Ross. I didn't mean that." Joanna mentioned hastily. "I was just joking. Night owls are amazing. Like you."
"And Gianna." Ross gestured towards my friend.
"Mhmm." Joanna rolled her eyes.
"Alrighty. Looks like it's your turn, McKaylee." Ross said smiling at McKaylee. She went bright red.
"How do you know my name?" She gasped.
"Umm I have a sheet right in front of me with your names..." Ross answered and then looked Joanna in the eyes. "And your actual, real, honest-to-goodness ages..."
Joanna blushed and looked down. Ha! Take that!
"So I'm McKaylee. I really am seventeen. I live on a farm so that's a hobby but I also dance. The most dangerous thing I've ever done is surfboard at night...and umm I'm a morning person."
"Cool McKaylee. I love surfing. Back home my family and I go out like all the time." Ross grinned. "Thanks for sharing."
"You're welcome." McKaylee sighed with relief.
Ross glanced to his right before looking down at the sheet of paper in front of him. "Okay. Kalani. Cool name, by the way."
"Thanks, Ross. So I'm Kalani. I'm originally from Hawaii so yeah...we're a naturally beautiful people and that's why my mom tells me I'm gorgeous."
"Hmm..." Ross nodded thoughtfully.
"The most dangerous thing I've ever done is swim with sharks...and umm...I'm an eighteen-year old night owl."
"Neato Kalani."
Then he turned to me. "And you Madame..."
"Who me?"
"No. I was actually talking to that book over there..."
I blinked blankly.
"Nah. I'm just kidding." He chuckled, patting my arm playfully and winked.
Oh gosh. He touched me. He touched my arm and he winked at me. Me!!!! I am never moving from this spot or moving my arm because I don't want the magic to fade. Ever.
"Oh." I laughed stupidly. "Umm I'm uhhh..."
"Anna..." Ross hinted.
"Yep. I'm Anna and I'm eighteen years old. I'm a night owl because mornings are not okay with me nor am I okay with them. I really like dancing and the most dangerous thing I've done is paragliding."
"Dude. Paragliding is SO much fun." Ross's eyes lit up with excitement. "It's crazy. Anyways nice to meet all you ladies. I'm Ross. I'm eighteen. I'm a night owl...umm...the most dangerous thing I've done recently was running on the edge of the roof of a parking garage so yeah...that was dumb."
"Whoa." McKaylee's jaw dropped.
"So you're a thrill-seeker?" Joanna asked. "Hot."
"Yeah...I'm kinda an adrenaline junkie so...it's just in my nature. I have way too many hobbies but I'm in a band with my siblings-"
"Oh my gosh. Wait. Are you Ross as in Ross Lynch?" Kalani questioned.
"Eww who?" Ross asked in a hilarious sassy girly voice. "Do we like even know him?"
We all laughed and Ross beamed. "Yep. I'm Ross Lynch and I play guitar and sing lead in R5."
"Whoa. That's pretty cool." I nodded, pretending I didn't know that and way more...
"Oh...I thought you of all people would know since you've got R5 written on your hand...." Ross smirked.
Ugh. Curse you boredom and artistic talent and obsession with R5. The rest of this afternoon was going to be quite interesting and somehow, I'd be required to focus with Ross only inches away from me. Oh. Dear.
