Ross's POV
We had a boss day at the beach and now I was walking Leilani to her door.
"So you can come to the show on Wednesday evening?" I asked.
"Yeah. That's the one downtown right now?"
"Yep. See ya there?"
"Wouldn't miss it for the world." She smiled.
"Oh and when is your surf competition?"
"Thursday afternoon."
"Sweet. I'll be there."
We hugged goodbye and I headed out to my car.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Ross's POV
To be honest, I was actually a little bit nervous for this show. There were two critics at the show and they were planning on giving published reveiws. I just didn't feel as confident as I normally did. I scanned the crowd for Leilani's lovely smile but I couldn't find her. The whole entire show I felt distracted and worried. Maybe she was running late or maybe she got lost. I just hoped that she was okay.
As soon as we closed with Loud, I handed off my guitar and headed to the dressing room to get changed.
Leilani's POV
I stood on the shore, nervously playing with the sand between my toes. I felt awful. I had messed up the date of my surfing competition. It didn't dawn on me to bother texting Ross or anything because I knew I'd miss his show that night and there was nothing I could do. I was competing in finals and was going for the gold. I shredded my last wave and took first place. As I was standing there basking in the happiness of my gold trophy, my eye caught sight of someone I wasn't expecting to see.
After all the festivities has passed and my family was packing up to leave, I approached Ross. He didn't look to happy. I wanted to focus on anyone or anything but him; the palm trees, the random seagull, the dead jellyfish that was near my foot. Anything but Ross.
"I'm sorry I missed your show. I completely-"
"You said you'd be there." He said weakly. I tried to look in his eyes but he averted his vision to the sand.
"Ross. I'm sorry." I apologized. "I honestly thought the competition was tomorrow and not today."
"But you always miss our shows. You're always too busy surfing. Like seriously, get a life, Lei."
"Surfing is my life Ross and I could say the same about you. You're always off rehearsing or performing."
"All I'm saying is that I barely get to spend time with you anymore."
"You're always so busy. Why does it matter?" I snapped.
"Because...." He trailed off. Then he blurted. "Because I love you Leilani. I always have and I always will."
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah..."
"I'm sorry if you don't agree but honestly, I love my music and I love being on stage but at the end of the day when all of that fades away, it's you I want by my side. Always."
I'm pretty sure I was blushing. "Okay. Fine. I may also have a tiny crush on you." I admitted.
"Tiny?"
"Yes. Tiny. Deep, deep, deep way down, I can find a piece of my heart that sorta likes you."
"Sorta likes? Oh I am hurt." Ross said flailing his limbs around dramatically.
"Okay, okay, okay. I really like you."
"Just say it. I know you want to. You love me." He gloated.
I nodded my head and giggled knowing I was totally annoying him.
"Oh well I know just how to get you to admit you're head-over-heels."
"I am not head-over-heels." I said trying to keep a straight face.
"Well now you are." Ross picked me up and slung me over his shoulder. He then proceeded to run towards the water.
"Shall I dunk you headfirst or?" He teased.
"I love you Ross. I love you."
"What?"
"You heard me. I said I love you so much. So very much."
"Aww that's very sweet of you." And with that he dunked me in the water. I came up sputtering and chased the idiot back to the shore where I gave him a good tickle. After we both caught our breath from laughing so hard, Ross sat up.
He bit his lip before simply and adorably asking, "Can I kiss you?"
I smiled. "Of course you can, Weirdo."
