Jennie's POV
Riker had quickly escaped the room and I wasn't sure why. It wasn't like him to just sorta ditch the scene like that so I turned to Stormie.
"Do you know what's up?" I asked.
"Yeah...but it's nothing really terrible. I think it's adorable." She gushed.
"Oh...okay. I'm gonna go find him."
I headed to the guest room we were staying in and Riker was sitting on the bed with a hoodie in his hands. He was staring out the window.
"Riker. Can I come in?" I said even though the door was open.
"Mhmm." He responded. "I gotta tell you something."
"Yeah I was just about to ask." I said sitting next to him.
"Okay don't laugh."
"I'll do my best not to, Rikey."
"One time, I went shopping with my mom and forgot to put on clothes..." He looked down. I knew he was totally lying.
"Riker. I know you well enough that being naked doesn't phase you at all." I smirked. "That's not what you were gonna tell me..."
"Okay, okay, okay. Promise me that you won't laugh."
I grinned ticking Riker off a little. "Jennie. Cross your heart. Cross it."
I sighed and crossed my heart.
"Pinky swear."
"But Riker it's just-"
"Pinky swear." He said seriously.
"Okay." I held my pinky to his and we pinky swore.
"Okay fine. Here. Just look at it." He handed me a picture of him and Rydel.
Delly looked about fifteen and Riker was probably sixteen. I looked at Rydel's braces and then at Riker's. I kinda had to bite my lip to keep from laughing. My attempt to my laugh failed and I burst into a fit of hysterics falling off the bed in the process. When I regained my composure, I looked up at Riker who was just sitting there.
"You pinky swore..." Riker's voice cracked.
"I know. I'm not laughing at your braces. I'm laughing at the fact that you look totally adorable and there's nothing to be ashamed of."
Riker frowned handing me another picture.
I cringed slightly. "Ooh.....what's the big bruise on your head from?" I studied the picture noticing Riker had a bruise on his head.
"Well we had picture day at the Rage and my mom said I should wear my glasses so my eyes could focus better or something and I wasn't exactly going for the whole glasses and braces thing so I decided not to wear them and walked into a pole. Of course my mom brought them with me so I was there with glasses, braces, and an ugly bruise on my forehead."
"Aww Rikey. Can I tell you something?"
"Sure."
"I was the same way. People need glasses and people need braces. It's a normal occurrence. So what if people call you dorky or make fun of you? They all secretly adore you I'm pretty sure. Besides I think your dorky and that's one thing I love so much about you. So don't worry about anything. Just keep on smiling and being happy. I love you."
"Thanks Jennie. I love you too."
I hugged Riker and then gasped when I looked at the window.
"Riker! It's snowing!"
I bounced up and looked out the window leaving Riker to bounce off the bed and land against the wall.
"Sorry...are you okay?"
"Yeah..." He stood up rubbing his head. "I have a bruise don't I?"
"Umm....yeah...." I said backing out of the room.
"Ooh get back here ya little, Dork." I heard Riker say as I ran down the hall.
I ran down the stairs and grabbed the keys.
"I'm going to grab a couple movies from home. Wanna come?" I asked Riker.
"Sure. I'll come with you while you drive my car in the snow." He replied sarcastically.
"Okay. Let's walk. Our house only five minutes away."
"Careful you two." Stormie called out from the kitchen.
"Okay Mom. We will. Thanks. We'll be right back." Riker replied.
We bundled up and headed outside.
It literally took us twenty minutes to get to our house because of the ice. I would continually slip and then I would bring Riker down with me as he tried to help me up.
We got to our driveway and Riker slipped and fell giggling as he tried to get up. He had another bruise on his cheek.
"Aww Man." He said rubbing his cheek. I finally got to where he was and helped him up. We both crashed on the ice and I heard running footsteps. Some random lady was taking a jog in the snow. Good for her. Then our neighbor across the street opened his front door. He was a nice old man who always gave us candy. It was the best.
"You two alright?"
"Yup. Just peachy." Riker sat up.
"Oh well I can't help but mention that I successfully made it up my driveway with my fake hips and terrible knees. I'm sure you two spritely people can make it." He laughed.
"Hahaha yup. We got this." I chuckled. After telling us to enjoy the snow, our neighbor closed his door and we got into our house. My nose was red and my hands were numb. Riker ran to the basement, grabbed some movies and then we slipped and tripped all the way back to the Lynch's house.
Stormie's POV
Riker and Jennie appeared at the door covered in snow and bruises.
"Oh my goodness you guys. What happened?"
"Ice."
"Shoulda worn Riker's hockey gear." Jennie laughed trying to look at her busted up lip.
"Well come inside and sit down. I made tons of hot cocoa."
"Yay! Thanks Mom!" Jennie squealed.
"Thanks Mom!" Riker hugged me. I stood there covered in snow from Riker's hug. Oh my stars. Those two never ceased to amuse me.
