Ross's POV
I was a little out of breath from chasing Jennie for so many blocks. This park was about a mile away from the venue. We both sat at the top of the slide taking cover from the hail. The force at which the hail was hitting got heavier and heavier. It was to the point where it looked like huge giant snowflakes were covering the ground. It was actually pretty cool and I had never really seen anything like it since I'm a SoCal kid.
But enough about me, I was here with a damsel in distress and I needed to be her knight in shining armor and save her.
I scooted closer to Jennie only to find that she was crying.
"Hey. Are you alright? I saw what happened."
"Everybody did, Ross." She cried.
"I'm sorry. Can I hug you?"
At first she shrugged away but eventually gave in. I held her close and let her cry on my shoulder.
"Hey. Look at me." I lifted her chin so I could look into her beautiful eyes. "I know that what those guys did hurt and I know it's not easy to make mistakes on stage where everyone is watching you and believe me, I make mistakes all the time."
"You're just saying that..." She trailed.
"Nuh-uh. You don't even know how many times I have to look over at Riker or Rocky to help me with the lyrics during R5 concerts. I always forget."
"For real?" She smiled weakly.
"Yeah..." I smiled back. "And about being bullied, well even though I was homeschooled, I still know how awful it can be and no one should ever treat anyone like that but you can't let a few people being you down. You are an amazing person Jennie and even though it may be hard, you can't let the people who want you to fail mess you up. You've got this. You're a talented chick and I really admire you."

Jennie's POV

Ross spoke with sincerity and wisdom. I felt light and happy again and the sun came out melting the ice and drying the rain. We walked back to the stage-house together as we laughed and talked but this wasn't the happy ending yet.
"Oh look. It's Jennie...good thing I saved everyone from having to hear you sing." Someone shouted at me. Tears stung as the rolled down my cheeks but NO! I wasn't gonna let that meanie win.
"Hey Jennie-" Shad started again but Ross cut him off. I saw a side of both boys that I hadn't seen before. Shad looked slightly scared and Ross looked really angry.
"That's it. Stop hurting her. Can't you see she's had enough. She doesn't deserve this at all. No one does." Ross said with his fists clenched. I took a step back.
"Aww. Blondie wants to stand up for Pennie."
"It's Jennie not Pennie and of course I'm gonna stand up for her. I love her."
I blushed and smiled like an idiot. Ross has never told me that before.
Seconds later, Ross and Shad were shoving each other and then Shad reached over to try and hurt me but Ross was having none of that.
He pulled Shad's arm back eliciting a scream of pain from the evil boy.
"You're gonna pay for this, Lynch." He shouted angrily. Some people walking by stared curiously but I was frozen in place.
Shad dove at Ross and I shut my eyes as I saw Ross's head hit the cement. Was he okay? Would he ever be okay? I was worried sick about the boy who declared his love for me.
