Chasidy's POV
I continued putting fondant flowers on the huge cake in front of me. This was seriously the most tedious process ever.
"Hey Chasidy, do you mind heading up front for a bit?" My boss, Tanya asked.
"No. Not at all." I responded cheerfully.
"Thanks so much."
After wiping my hands on my apron, I decided to head out to the front of the bakery. It was almost ten o'clock and that's when I was on duty for the cash register and taking orders. It was nice to take a break from the monotony back behind the doors.
A wave of customers came in. They seemed like a family and by the looks of things, they probably been surfing.
"Good morning. What can I get for you all today?"
They all gave me their orders and I went behind the glass to take out their cupcakes, muffins, cake etc.
They all paid and sat down. I couldn't help but stare at the one tall brunette. They were all generally attractive but there was something about that one kid that caught my eye.
"Excuse me? Ma'am!" Another customer said snapping me out of my daydream.
"Oh. I'm so sorry. I was just...yeah umm...what can I get for you?"
I tried to get through the rest of the morning without spacing out again.THE NEXT MORNING
6:45 a.m.
The sun was already risen and I knew I needed to get my butt outta bed. I slowly made myself look presentable. I stepped outside and soaked up the Cali sun as I walked to work. I loved my summer job. It was hard-work, really fun, and hey...it meant I could get cute shoes.
I did my usual routine and when it was time to take orders, I headed to the front. A professionally-dressed woman was in line in front of that surfing family. I cringed inside but smiled happily.
"And what can I do for you today, Ma'am?" I asked.
"Hi. I would like twelve dozen red-velvet cupcakes with buttercream frosting. I will come by to pick them up tomorrow morning." She said briskly.
"Umm...okay great." She paid and left the bakery. The surfer dudes and surfer chick were up next.
"We would like four thousand cupcakes with butt-cream frosting, please." The brunette joked in a snooty voice.
I laughed harder than I should.
"But seriously, we'll just take what we had yesterday." A tall, kinda thin, blonde guy said after he had stopped laughing.
"Sure! If I can remember...."
They all reminded me of what they wanted.
"Oh. By the way, I'm Ross. I'm the second youngest." Another blond guy introduced himself. His siblings followed suit.
"I'm Riker. I'm the oldest."
"I'm Ellington; their brotha from anotha motha." He grinned cheekily.
The pretty blonde chick laughed. "I'm Rydel. I'm the second oldest."
"I'm Ryland. I'm the adorable baby." Whoa. I was not expecting his voice to be that deep. Nice.
"Middle Child. How's it going?" The handsome brown-haired guy stated.
"Well, Riker, Ellington, Rydel, Ross, Ryland, and Middle Child, nice to meet you. I'm Chasidy."
"Nice to meet you too, Chasidy." They replied simultaneously.
I chuckled. "Well I better get back to workin'. I have one hundred forty-four cupcakes to ice."
"Ooh. That much fun should be illegal." Ellington said sarcastically.
"Hahaha yeah."
They all sat down but Middle Child came back to grab a napkin.
"Hey...you could always text me if you wanted help with those cupcakes..." He said shyly.
"Umm...sure...lemme go grab my phone. I left it in the back."
"No problem. Take your time."
I went back to grab my phone and headed back out. He was still standing there smiling. Aww. He had dimples...and the sweetest eyes. Oh no. I think I like him. I shouldn't though because what if I never see him again?
"See who?" He asked.
I jumped back into reality,"Oh wait what? I said that out loud didn't I. I was just thinking to myself." I looked down at my shoes.
"I do that all the time." He laughed kindly.
We swapped phones and put each others numbers in.
When I got my phone back, he put his contact name in as Rocky. Oh...I guess that was his name. I liked it.
"Well I'll probably text you this afternoon. Thanks Middle Child."
"You're welcome Bakery Child." He said heading outside.
I smiled at his stupid nickname for me. Tanya had come out and was standing there smirking at me.
"I guess you have some 'baking' to do. I'll let you go early if you want. Don't worry about the rest. I have all twelve trays of cupcakes for you."
"Oh my gosh. Are you serious? Thanks so much." I squealed and hugged Tanya.
"Just make sure you come back down from your happy cloud to come to work tomorrow afternoon."
"Afternoon? Thanks again."
I had to transport all twelve trays back to my house. I set them on the counter and texted Rocky.
"My parents are coming back from work around dinner so maybe he could stay and my parents could meet him. That would be brilliant!" I said literally talking to the cupcakes. I'm so losing it.
Within seconds of texting Rocky, the doorbell rang.
I dashed to the door and opened it excitedly. "Hey Rocky-oh wait."
"Uh...here's your package...Ma'am...."The delivery guy said awkwardly.
"Erm...uh...Thanks." I said with equal awkwardness.
I took the package and put it on the floor beside the door for when my parents came home.
I decided to chill and just wait till my Rocky arrived. This meant Netflix and a big bowl of junk food...
