Yoooo. I hope you like it, Madison Xx

___________
Madison's POV
I attempted to perfect my toe loop jump as I skated across the ice. I had my earbuds in and I was listening to music as I practiced. Toe loop jumps are the easiest figure-skating jump but as a perfectionist, I was always looking to improve mine. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the hockey team file past. One of the guys lagged behind and eventually stopped by the rink where I was. He had on his jersey, his helmet, and the rest of his gear. I guess the team had just finished practice.
Part of me was hoping that he would walk away but another part of me was hoping he'd stay and check out my skills. I tried my triple axel and stuck the landing perfectly. I glanced in the direction of the hockey player again and realized he was stepping into the rink. Wow. Rude. He had a lot of nerve to just barge in like that.
I stopped skating, paused the music on my phone, and took out my earbuds.
"Hi." I smiled, trying to break the ice (but not the ice I was skating on cuz that would NOT be good).
"Yo." He gave a slight nod.
"Umm..."
"What?" The boy shrugged. "I came to practice my shots."
I was appalled. "Are you serious? I was here long before you were and you didn't even ask to practice your dumb hockey things. Do you honestly think you can just waltz onto the ice and be a brat?"
Okay so perhaps a was being a little bit dramatic...just a little bit.
"Oh come on. You're just skating around in circles." He argued. "At least ice hockey has a point to it. Figure skating isn't even a sport."
"Figure skating is a sport."
"Is not." He bickered.
"Is too."
"Is not."
"Is too. Now stop arguing."
"I'm not arguing. I'm explaining why I'm right and you're wrong."
I almost laughed because his comeback was so sassy but I stayed strong and didn't crack. I refused to allow him to know that he had won our dispute.
"What's your name anyway?"
"Rocky."
"Eww. That's a dumb name."
"I dare you to say that to my brother's face."
"Why your brother? Didn't your parents name you?"
"Nah. My older brother did."
"Well...fine. Your name isn't what's dumb. It's you that's dumb."
"Me? I'm dumb?"
"Umm...yeah." I said less confidently.
"Well what's your name?" He asked. "I bet it's even dumber."
"My name's Madison." I replied. "Now I suggest you get off the ice before I accidentally whack you in the face with the blades of my skates."
Defeated, Rocky hung his head. "Fine. You win."
He began to skate to the exit gate of the rink. I turned my music on again and resumed skate practice. I decided to practice my jumps again.
Embarrassingly, gravity took over and I fell, sliding harshly across the thick ice. When I stood up, I realized Rocky had seen the entirety of my mishap. Oh great. Now I'm never gonna hear the end of it from him.
"You okay?" Rocky hollered.
I rolled my eyes and ignored him.
"Okay. Good." He continued. "Now that I know you're okay, I can make fun of you."
Ugh. I don't think I've met anyone who has been able to annoy me in such a short timespan. I finished skating and went to the girls' dressing room to change. I showered and put on a different outfit. Then, I grabbed my bag and headed out to the parking lot. The sunshine hit me in the face when I walked outside. I had been indoors all day so the fresh air was quite lovely.
As I walked to my car, I saw a tall, brown-haired guy walking to his car. He had a duffel bag slung over his shoulder and was carrying a hockey stick. He must be another one of those hockey players. I bet he's not as obnoxious as that Rocky kid, though.
As I neared my car, I realized the guy was walking closer to me. His bright green Jeep was parked right next to my car. Oh great. Now I have to socialize again.
"Hey." I said, stuffing my belonging in the backseat of my car.
"Sup?"
"Nothin' much." I grinned.
To be honest, this dude was pretty attractive. He had hazel-grey eyes, long brown hair, and the most adorably perfect dimples ever. I awkwardly stared at him as he fixed his beanie.
"Wait...Madison..." He said, interrupting me from my thoughts.
"How do you know my name?"
"Umm because we met earlier. You told me my name was dumb, then you threatened me with your ice skates, and then you tried to show off but fell on your butt. Remember?"
I gasped. "You're Rocky?"
"Yep."
"Whoa. You're hot." I blurted.
"I know." He winked.
"I didn't mean to say that out loud." I laughed. "I guess I didn't know what you looked like without your mouthguard and helmet blocking your face."
"I guess so." He chuckled. "Hey, I'm sorry I was such a jerk earlier. I was trying to fool myself into not liking you by picking on you but it didn't really work. I suppose my heart outsmarted my brain."
"You like me?"
"Maybe just a little bit."
"You're adorable and it's cool. I was kind of a brat too. I didn't mean anything I said. I just felt like arguing with you because I thought you were cute."
"Well that's logical." He joked sarcastically.
"Says the person who thought that annoying me would make him not like me."
"Oh hush." He rolled his eyes. "Yo, maybe we could meet up and skate or something...or play a little one-on-one hockey."
"I'd like that." I smiled.
"Well I have to go but it was awesome meeting you, Brat-ison...I mean Madison."
"Very funny, Rocky. Nice meeting you too."
