Chasidy’s POV

I gave my outfit one last overlook before mentally congratulated myself for putting effort into my clothing choice. I had on my new short, floral sundress. It wasn’t immodestly short but if there was a breeze, people passing me on the street would certainly get a little peep and that wouldn’t be good. I grabbed my clutch and my phone and headed down the stairs. I knew my husband was making lunch for us because he’s the kinda guy who does that. I was so happy he was mine and I was his. We had been married for only nine weeks now and it was quite the adventure.

“Hiya Babe!” I said hugging him from behind. He turned around and smiled but then his joy quickly faded away once he gave me an up down.

“HeyIlikeyourdressgochange.” He strung his words together.
I giggled. “Wait. Why are you so nervous? What’s wrong? You can tell me anything. I promise.”
He put down the butter knife he was using. “Well….umm….your dress is cute and I really like it but it’s kinda short.”
“You really think so?” I turned around did a quick spin. It flew up. “Oh…alright then. Imma go change.”
“Thanks. I just don’t want creeps goin’ after my girlie.”

I grinned at his adorable protectiveness and headed back upstairs. I came down in a pair of black leggings, a tee shirt, and a hoodie. I had given up on being cutesy because I didn’t feel like putting effort into another outfit.
Rocky laughed as he handed me a plate with a yummy-looking sandwich on it. “Is anything that you’re wearing right now actually yours?”
“Well everything but the shirt and the hoodie is mine. I may have rummaged through your side of the closet…”
He laughed and sighed with relief. “Phew. I thought you had taken my leggings.”

“Oh gosh no. Eww. Rocky please never wear leggings.”
“Pfft. You know I can rock ‘em.”
I snickered and bit into my sandwich. “Mmm….this is SO good.”
“I’m glad you like it.”
I finished my delicious lunch and cleared the table.
“Alright. I’m heading out. Need anything? I’m getting food.”
“Ooh. The SuperBowl is tomorrow. You have chips and dip and fried chicken and all that stuff right?”
“Yep.”
“Okay well can you get me a box of Nerds?”
“Sure thing.” I said standing on my tiptoes to kiss him.

“Oh and we need bananas.”
“Okay.” I replied from the door.
“And apples.”
“Got it.”
“And I need more fruit snacks.”
“Okay Rocky.” I said hoping he was done.
“Wait! We also need more laundry detergent.”
I turned around and walked back to him with my shoe half-on. I hopped around while trying to put it on properly.
“Rocky. I have a list and all that stuff is already on there.”
“I know but I was just stalling you because I don’t want you to go and I need a hug.” He made a pouty face and looked down.
“Aww. Okay.” I hugged him before grabbing all my stuff and heading out into the breezy California weather.
Like the chill and goofy chick I was, I skateboarded to the grocery store since it was right down the street. I sometimes kept forgetting I was wife and even though I had just turned twenty, I was still mentally sixteen or so. I got everything on the list and regretted boarding to the store because I had a lot of bags. I held all four bags in one hand and my skateboard in the other. As I walked down the hill, I tripped and dropped one of the bags. I landed on it and when I stood up, I giggled nervously at my awkward mistake. People walking past just laughed or stared and others took pictures. Well…I’m gonna have to go back later and buy more eggs since they’re all smashed and cracked now.

I texted Rocky because I knew I wouldn’t be able to do this alone. I took a selfie of my situation and sent it to him.

Me: Hey. I’m kinda in a predicament…

Mr. Smexy: Oh my gosh. Poor Baby! My hoodie is covered in egg!!!

Me: Seriously. I crashed on the sidewalk and your focused on the hoodie. You’re impossible.
Mr. Smexy: I know and you love me for it, don’t ya?
Me: Ugh. Fine. Yes. I do.
I told him I was only two minutes away from home and a few moments later, his bright Jeep pulled up to the curb.

He rolled down his windows and looked around suspiciously before lowering his shades. “Psst. Hey. Hey Kid. Wanna buy some candy?”
I put my hand in his direction and ignored him. “My mommy says I shouldn’t talk to strangers.”

He put his sunglasses back on his face properly and pretended to look offended. “Oh. Well then…obviously you don’t need a ride home…”
He slowly started to pull away. “Wait! Rocky! You know I was joking. Get back here you, Pest.”
He reversed a little and climbed over the passenger’s seat. If he exited the car on the driver’s side, the oncoming traffic would probably take the door off since it was a busy street….or he just wanted to climb over and through the open window because he’s an idiot.
Suddenly panic washed over his face.
“Are you okay? Did someone hurt you?” He gently patted my sides.
“I’m good. Just a little clumsy but you wouldn’t understand since you’re not clumsy.”
“Hey. I promise you I’m not. Ross, on the other hand….”
He helped me up and I loaded everything in the back of the car before climbing in. “Hey thanks for saving me.”
“Well I mean that’s what superheroes do right?” He smiled keeping his eyes on the road. “Especially for the people that they hold near and dear in their heart.”
I blushed the same way I did when I first met him. He was such a smooth lil’ pooptoot. He knew exactly what to say and when to say it.

We got home and Rocky had to head to rehearsal. I stayed home and made dinner and desert. I blasted music while I cooked and baked. I made Rocky’s favorite. Mac’n’cheese with bacon and string beans and for dessert, I made red velvet cupcakes. I went into our living room and set out drinks and put a movie in. I picked Nemo because that always made both of us laugh and cry. Especially Rocky but he’d kill me if he knew I told you that so shhh…..

Dimming the lights, I brought down our pillows and blankets. I took one last look at everything before clapping my hands together with glee. He was gonna love this.

He walked in the door and set down both of his guitar cases. “Hey, Sexy! I’m home.”

I quickly ran to where he was and hugged him. “Okay. I have something to show you. Close your eyes.”
He shut his eyes and I did my best to cover his eyes. Since he was a good foot and many inches taller than me, it was a bit awkward because I was sorta strangling him but whatever. He wasn’t dying so that’s good.
I guided him to the living room and removed my hands. “Okay! You can look now.”
“Oh wow. Baby, you did all this?”
“Yeah…”
“Wow. That’s so thoughtful. I love it.”
“Good. I’m glad. I also made you Mac’n’Cheese and red velvet cupcakes for dinner but like not together. They’re separate cuz Mac’n’Cheese and cupcakes doesn’t taste good unless you REALLY like both and then in that case it’s possible. It’d be like heaven on earth but is that scientifically possible because I feel like if you put heaven on Earth, the Earth would be crushed because the way I see it, heaven is huge and bright and-”

Rocky chuckled and shut me up with a kiss. I realized I had been rambling and I knew that always bothered and confused him but I didn’t mind being hushed this way.

Rocky laughed again and took my hand, swinging our arms back and forth gently. “Okay will let’s dig into your heaven on earth red velvet Mac’n’Cheese.”
