Vikki's POV
I was on a hike up the side of one of the many hills in sunny California. Hikes in Cali are different from most places because it just means you're making your way up a hill instead of like wandering through the woods. It's a good workout, though and it's also a super fun pastime. I had been walking for quite a bit and I really felt like taking my shoes off because they were getting annoying. I know...it wasn't a smart idea since the ground was basically just a dirt path with lots of pebbles and random thorns and stuff from plants and bushes. I disregarded the thought of potential danger and pulled off my shoes and socks. I got to the top of the hill and took several pictures with my phone. The view was amazing and I was glad that there weren't so many people here today.
I slowly began to make my way back down the hill but stopped abruptly because of a searing pain in my foot. I looked down and realized that my foot had a huge gash in it. It was bleeding profusely and I was a bit grossed out by the whole situation.
Sitting down in the sand off the side of the path, I inspected my injury a bit further.
"Hey, are you okay?" A gentle voice caused me to look up.
A thin, blonde-haired guy was kneeling in front of me and he looked very concerned.
I forced a smile. "Umm sorta. I cut my foot on a sharp rock or something. I'm not so sure."
"Oh dear. That's not good." He sighed. "Don't cry, though. I can help you."
I brushed away a few tears. I hadn't even realized I was crying until he mentioned it.
"Thank you." I sniffled.
"You're welcome." He smiled. "First we gotta stop the bleeding."
He untied the flannel shirt from around his waist and then took off the grey t-shirt he was wearing. I watched, not knowing what he was about to do. I tried not to stare but lemme just say....he took his shirt off and I wasn't complainin'.
He pressed his t-shirt against the bleeding wound on my foot.
"But I don't wanna ruin your shirt." I objected and tried to move away.
"No worries. It's all good." He chuckled and concentrated on making sure my foot stopped bleeding. After a couple quiet minutes, he sat back and put his flannel shirt on. I got really disappointed when he buttoned it up but then laughed to myself at the fact that I actually got disappointed.
"You alright?" He asked.
I jumped a little, startled out of my daze. "Yep. It feels a little better. Thanks."
"Oh good." He chuckled. "Are you planning on going back down the hill?"
"I was but then I hurt myself so...."
"I can carry you if you want."
"Aww. That's so sweet of you but-"
"But?" He giggled. "But what?"
"But I don't want to hurt you." I said quietly.
He stood up and it was then that I realized how tall and lanky he was. Oh my.
I heaved a contemplating sigh and eventually took him up on his offer.
"You want me to actually hold me or do you want a piggyback ride?"
I laughed. "A piggyback ride would be splendid."
I grabbed my socks and shoes and he kinda put the shirt I ruined in his back pocket. Of course the shirt didn't completely fit in his pocket but oh well.
Somehow, I safely managed to get on his back and he started walking downhill.
"I'm Riker, by the way." He said in a cheery tone. "What's your name?"
"Vikki." I replied. "Oh and cool name."
"Thanks. Me too."
I laughed really hard and Riker gave a confused giggle.
"What's so funny?"
"You said 'thanks. Me too.' and you didn't even notice."
"Oh. I did?"
"Yeah. It was adorable." I gushed.
"Adorable huh?"
I could tell he was smirking even though I couldn't quite see his face.
"Yeah." I grinned.
"Wanna know what I think?" He asked as we continued walking.
"What do you think?"
"I think you're adorable."
"Do ya now?" I questioned and tried not to laugh.
"100%."
I gave an uncontainable smile and we finally got down the hill.
"So did you like drive here or...." Riker trailed off.
"No, actually." I answered. "I walked."
"Oh." He replied. "Not to sound creepy but like I could drive you to your house if you wanted."
It didn't take me long to say yes Riker's kind offer. He carried me all the way to his bright blue car.
"I like your car." I grinned.
"Thanks." He smiled.
Being the gentleman he was, Riker got the door for me and let me into the car before getting in himself. He fixed his shades and threw the shirt I got blood on in the back.
As soon as he turned the car on, the radio automatically turned on. A song that I didn't know was playing but apparently Riker knew it since he was goofily jamming out to it and singing the words.
Even when he's being silly, he has such a nice voice. Also, he's literally the definition of adorable.
We talked as he drove down the freeway. Riker had lots to say but he was also a good listener.
"Just gotta make one quick stop. " He said pulling into a parking lot. "I'll be right back, cool?"
"Cool." I grinned.
I looked up and saw that he went inside the Starbucks coffee shop. I shrugged and got out my phone. A nice warm breeze was coming through the open windows and you could almost smell the ocean.
See the thing was that I knew who Riker was this whole time. I was totally an R5er so when I first met Riker, I almost squealed. I just didn't wanna creep him out by seeming like a stalker so I acted chill.
Riker came back with two drinks in his hands. He got back in the car and placed both drinks in the car's cupholders.
"This one's for you." He bit his lip bashfully. "But you don't have to drink it if you don't want to."
"Aww. Riker this is so sweet of you." I smiled. "Thank you."
I took a sip and smiled even bigger. "Mmm...this is my favorite."
"Yeah...I know." He chuckled.
"How do you know?" I asked as he pulled out of the parking lot.
"Okay well promise you won't laugh."
I was already trying not to laugh. "I'll do my very best not to laugh."
"Good." He let out an adorable giggle. "So I'm in a band and sometimes...well actually a lot of the time, I write lyrics and stuff so I had been sitting in Starbucks one Wednesday morning and I saw you walk in..."
"And?" I raised an eyebrow.
"And I watched you order your drink and then you came back the next Wednesday and ordered the same thing...I promise I wasn't like stalking you but I kinda had a crush on you so...."
"You what?" I asked softly.
"I kinda had a crush on you. I didn't think I'd ever see you again but now that I have, my crush is gone." He stole a glance at me before looking back at he road. "And that's because I'm totally in love with you now."
My jaw dropped and my cheeks went pink. I had been mildly obsessed with Riker as soon as I discovered R5 and now he was telling me that he was in love with me. Me.
"I love you too, Riker." I sighed happily.
We jammed out to more music on the radio and then a song that neither of us liked came on.
"If you have music on your phone, you can plug it in right here."
He handed me the cord and I plugged my phone in. I decided to play Cali Girls because I figured Riker might know that song.
As soon as he heard the intro, he looked over at me and the car swerved a bit.
"Wait a second..." He squinted. "You know about R5?"
"R who?" I joked.
"I think you know exactly what I'm talking about, Young Lady." He smirked.
I giggled and by the time the song finished, I had helped Riker get to my house.
"Whoa nice place." He said getting out.
"Thanks." I grinned when he walked around to the passenger's side.
I was about to try and walk but Riker scooped me up in his arms.
I was holding my drink and my phone and he didn't put me down until the door opened. Mom let us in and gasped when she saw my foot.
"It's okay, Mom." I chuckled. "Riker took good care of me."
"Aww. Well that was very kind of you." She smiled at Riker. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Riker beamed.
Mom let Riker hang around for a bit and went to get stuff to clean out my cut.
We were sitting on the couch and I was holding Riker's hand.
"I wish I could hold your hand forever." He said with a dorky grin.
"Me too."
"But it's okay because I'll love you forever."
He gently kissed my cheek and sat back.
"Me too, Riker." I smiled. "Me too."
