Jordy’s POV

I woke up and felt like I was being strangled. My handsome husband’s arms and legs were sprawled across the bed and he had a tight grip on me with his arm. I loved that he was so protective of me but I also enjoyed oxgyen intake and the ability to breathe.

“Rocky.” I whispered hoping he’d wake up and move.
“Hey Handsome...Wake up.”

Eventually I mustered up the strength to sit up. I shook his shoulders gently. “Rocky. Move.”

I could see him smirking into his pillow and knew he was awake. He wasn’t even a heavy sleeper. I knew just what would get him to give me space.

I feigned a scream of pain and held my stomach. “Owww. Rocky. The baby-”

Before I could even finish my dramatic production, Rocky was out of bed and on the other side of me within seconds.

He held my hand and squeezed it reassuringly. “It’s okay Jordy. I’m right here. Everything will be okay. I promise. We’ll head to the hospital in just a second.”

I started laughing hysterically. I watched the worry in Rocky’s eyes fade into amusement.

“Oh.” He blinked in realization. “I thought you were serious. That wasn’t funny. You scared me.”
“Sorry but you wouldn’t move and that was the only thing I could think of.”
“If you weren’t pregnant, I’d smack you with a pillow right now.”
“Aww. Rocky. Always so sweet and romantic.” I rolled my eyes and walked over to the window. Snow laced everything in the yard and the white powder seemed very deep.

“Well today’s Christmas Eve…what do you wanna do?” Rocky asked.
“Watch a movie and snuggle with you.” I smiled.
“Good idea.”
“Gosh. I really hope Baby comes after Christmas. Even the day after.”  I said making my way to the couch.
“I honestly don’t care. I’ll be happy whenever she comes.”
I laughed. “How do you know it’s a girl? It might be a boy.”

“Yeah but I’m guessing it’s a girl so….” He said with sass. Then he added,  “We should name her Goldilocks….”

Out of the blue, I burst into tears. Once again, Rocky looked worried.
“No no, no, Bae, I was just joking. I wouldn’t want to name her Goldilocks. Don’t cry.” I rested my head against his chest and continued to sob.

Rocky slowly walked to the couch with me. I took a seat and caught my breath.

“I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to make you cry.”
I sniffed and laughed a little bit. “No. Rocky. It wasn’t you. I’ve just been a little emotionally whacked out. I was crying because I remembered I used to have a goldfish named Goldilocks but one time, while I was cleaning out her tank, I dropped her on the floor.  I couldn’t pick her up with my hands so I umm…I used a fork.” I sighed. “I stabbed my own fish and killed it.”
I started to cry again.

“No more tears, Lovely Lady.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. Shh…” Gosh. It’s like you can’t control your tears when you’re pregnant.
Rocky comforted me, held me close, and hugged me until the sobbing finally subsided.

“How about I get you something to eat. What would you like?” Rocky brushed a stray tear off my cheek with his calloused thumb.
“Umm… some apple juice, chicken wings, and I really want some watermelon and mayonnaise please.”
Rocky made a face. “Are you for real? Mayonnaise doesn’t even go here; you don’t even like it and neither do I….”
“Yeah but I’m starving and I’m in the mood for mayo.”
“Chicken wings though? I don’t think any food stores are open today.”
“Find like a McDonald’s or something. I don’t care. I just need chicken wings.” I said desperately. “And stop laughing at me. It’s not funny.”
“I’m not laughing.” He snickered.

I turned on the TV and scrolled through Netflix. “Wanna watch UP?”
“No. We are not watching UP. You’re gonna cry the whole time.”
“Okay. Fine. Finding Nemo?”
“No. I’m gonna cry the whole time.”
“Ooh. The Nightmare Before Christmas?”
“Sure. I’ll go get your chicken wings.” He made a face as he jammed his feet into his snowboots.
“Thanks, Rocky.”
“Oh no problem. I love driving in the snow to get my wife junk food. It’s an honor.”
