THANDI

"You look a lot better" Musa looks at my foot while we walk to the elevator

"I feel better, how are you?"

"I'm amazing" he has his bright toothy smile on

"Musa, I'm still sorry for what happened,Gundo shouldn't have hit you like that"

"I guess I understand, in a way. I mean if it were my wife, in other man's house, in his clothes too. I would have lost my cool and threw some punches too. By the way, your husband throws a mean punch, I'm just greatful I still have all my teeth" he chuckles

"Only you can make a joke about being beat up"

"That's because I'm trying to make this a lot less awkward for you T" He says while we wait for the elevator to open and when it does there's no one else inside

We both get in and he presses number 1, the children's ward then it closes and we start moving

"Gundo mentioned something... I'm not sure how to ask" I say and he nods knowingly

"I did say all that stuff"

"Why Musa?"

"Because I wanted to give him a wake up call. Even if it meant landing a few more punches or getting shot... By the way, why does he walk around with a gun?" he asks and I pull us back to the original conversation so as to not answer the gun question

"Don't move away from the topic, this puts a strain on our friendship you know that? Because now Gundo thinks you want me and he won't be understanding whenever we have to hang or do things out of work together"

"Then it means he will start treating you like he's actually afraid of losing you. He needs someone to keep him on his toes and I'll happily do it of it means he will be a better man to you. As for our friendship, surely the dust will settle soon or you can simply lie to him whenever we hang "he shrugs and I look at him not believing what he just said

" Serious ? That's your solution? To have me lie to him so it really looks like there's something happening with us"

"Well I mean..." he shrugs again, this time he has nothing to say

We stop moving and he looks at me "You know, throughout this conversation you never asked if I meant what I said to him" he looks at me so intensely then starts walking and I follow silently behind him

I start with my rounds and I find myself annoyed with the "What happened to your foot" question that keeps coming up because it just takes me to what happened at Musa's house and what he said in the elevator

There's no way he meant what he said to Gundo... It just can't be and knowing him he's enjoying messing with me, that's how Musa is, he's never serious about anything

I get lunch delivered with a single rose but no note and I just know who it's from so as soon as I'm sitting down I call him

"Mufunwa" his low, deep voice graces my ears making me smile like an idiot

"Hey, thanks for the lunch"

"You're welcome my love. How's your day going?"

"It's going good"

"And your foot?"

"It's not that bad..."

"You're not downplaying it, right?" he asks and I roll my eyes even though I know he can't see me

"I'm not. I'm really okay"

"Alright, I'm about to get in a meeting. See you when you get home"

"Later love" I say then hang up
