"How long does it take for you to get ready!?"
"I'm almost done, Just five minutes sis"
"You'll find me outside" I yell one more time then walk away
Melo came over for the weekend and I had promised to take him shopping, for someone's whose excited about this treat, he sure is taking lot of time to get ready
I decide to call Gwen while I wait for him. The main aim is to just check in with her but the underlying aim is to hear about Gundo. He would call or text and recently he's just gone quiet. I believe it's because he has his hands full with the baby and all and for someone who was given a chance to get out of this I'm not really making use of that chance
I even sent him a gift congratulating him, after I sent it through I laughed at myself, I laughed hard because this is what I've become, the wife who sends her husband a new dad basmet congratulating him on his new baby with his other wife. What a world I live in!
"Hun" Gwen says when she answers the phone
"Hey you, hows it going. You've been too quiet"
"Eix ya, it's been hectic hey. Gran isn't getting better, on the other aide it's this whole mess with Emmé and Jerome"
"Mess?"
"Yea, you know with what Emmé did" she says and I'm left confused "Oh my, he didn't tell you" Gwen realises I'm lost in this conversation
"Tell me what?"
"A couple of weeks ago Emmé left. She left nothing but letters explaining why she left and it's been tense since. Jerome was demanding that Gundo gives Dakalo to him so he can raise him, Gundo is having none of it. Yho this house is never without drama"
"Uhm, wow... I didn't know"
"Maybe he was going to tell you, he just hasn't had time to deal with everything because shortly after that Gran got worse and mom is stressing. I'm actually just thinking of going to Venda but at the same time I don't want to leave Gundo here"
"It's really hectic hey" I say not knowing what else to say. I'm shocked.
We talk a little more until I spot Melokuhle approaching the car "Hin, I have to go. I'll check on you later okay, stay strong"
I don't even have time to digest what Gwen just told me because Melo opens the door and gets in all excited... I wonder if he knows about Emmé. I doubt he would be this cheerful if he knew and I don't want to spoil his day so I selfishly decide not to say anything about what I've just heard
"For a doctor, you have no patience"
"I told you to get ready hours ago" I scowl at him "And it's you who wanted to go shopping, not me"
"Sorry rich sis" he raises his hands jokingly
"Rich sis? Really"
"Yea, all my friends call you rich sis. That was after I showed them pictures of little ones. Now everyone around me wants to be you when they grow up" he chuckles then asks to take a selfie with me and posts with the caption "shopping spree date with rich sis"
"Maybe you'll come work there for a while, get a feel of it" I suggest to him
"No thanks, I'm going the surgeon way"
"You want to be a surgeon? And here I was thinking we would be a family of pediatricians"
"That's not where my passion lies sis, this guy was born to be a surgeon" He says all proudly
