The days passed quickly and it was finally Saturday. I was very excited to see Rose. Due to the pandemic we couldn't visit each other but we managed to see each other by video call.
I walked through the museum until I reached the exhibit where Scarlett had told me they were. I managed to spot them both and when Scarlett saw me I made a sign to her not to say anything. I stood next to the little girl looking at her and when she noticed that someone had stopped next to her, she raised her head to look at me.
"ALEX!" She screamed excited.
"Hi my little girl" I said taking her in my arms.
"I missed you so much" She said hugging me tightly. I heard a small sob and I couldn't stop my eyes from filling with tears.
"Me too little Rose" I said leaving a kiss on her head "I missed you too so so much"
When I let Rose out of my arms, I noticed that Scarlett was looking at us with a shy smile.
"Hey" I said unsure of what else to do.
"Hi" She replied with the same smile as before.
"You guys have been waiting for a long time?" I asked and they denied.
"We arrived 5 minutes ago" Scarlett replied.
"Cool. Then let's get started" I said taking the little girl's hand.
Rose was in awe of each of the exhibits we saw. After almost 3 hours we decided to go for lunch. The little girl wanted to eat something Italian since she said that she really missed eating Italian food with me.
While we had lunch I couldn't help but smile seeing the little girl eating with such emotion.
"This is really yummy. But not as much as the pasta you prepare "She said looking at me tenderly and that melted my heart.
"Rose is right" Scarlett said, looking at me shyly.
Lunch was quiet. The little girl told me about what she did during the pandemic and when it was time for dessert she decided to ask something that I never thought she would do.
"How is Victoria?" She said eating her Stracciatella.
"Who is Victoria?" Scarlett asked confused.
"She's Alex's girlfriend mommy" Rose said with a smile "I met her once when I video called Alex"
Scarlett looked at me and I did the same with her. Her look was sad but she tried to hide it with a small smile.
"She's fine little one" I said looking at Rose now.
"She stayed in Italy?" She asked now looking at me.
"No, actually she is here in New York. She is looking for a place to put her restaurant" I said giving her a smile
"Cool" She said excitedly.
"Is she a Chef?" Scarlett asked, curious.
"Yes. She already has a restaurant in France and the other one is in Italy" I answered finishing my dessert.
"And... And how long have you been together?" She asked with a sad tone.
"Well, she spent the quarantine with me and my family, but we started dating last year" I replied calmly.
"I... I have... I have to go to the bathroom" Scarlett said getting up in a hurry and I nodded.
When I saw Scarlett walk away quickly I felt a knot in my stomach.
"She misses you" Rose said almost in a whisper and I looked at her confused "Mommy. She still misses you"
Rose looked at me and smiled pursing her lips.
