How Things Should Have Been (Todoroki Toya || Dabi x Reader)

Guys I just turned 17 yesterday and forgot I even indulged in literature for a week. But hopefully everyone had a nice thanksgiving break cuz I did! Enjoy the next chapter, I got a bio test this week and a Math test the week after. Bio will be easy asf and possibly Math too so I'll still update on time don't worry... I just forgot last week lol.

"I heard that Tenko has a girlfriend." Toya blurted out as he walked with (y/n). "Really? No way. Him, of all people?" Of course it was surprising, he never uses chapstick. "Rumour has it, it's actually Miruko, the number five hero."

"WHAT!? That's ridiculous, no way she's dating him. Did Tenko have, like, a glow up or something. I don't believe it." Neither did Toya. But that soon would be debunked...

"(y/n)!!" Hana exclaimed as she ran towards her friends, arms wide open. "Hanaaaaa!" Both stuck like magnets, crying tears of joy. "I missed you, aweee girl, you've changed so much, look at you~!" (y/n) cried over exaggerated tears, just like Hana. "Yes, yes you too! I can't believe you two are getting married too, what did I miss!?"

"Yo." While the girls proceeded to embrace each other and cry, Tenko popped up behind Toya. Something about Tenko had startled him though... It made Toya flinch. He grew! "Eh?" Both stared at each other down. "What... happened to your hair, Tenko?" His hair had changed from baby blue to pure white. Tenko had changed a lot! He just didn't grow taller, but his hair length is nearly at his shoulders. Plus he has a bit more muscles too. Nothing major, he still looks like a twig with his clothes on. "Oh now hold on a second." (y/n) and Hana broke out of their embrace. "You two stand next to each other." Toya knew what this was about... (y/n) and Hana began laughing. "Tenko! Tenko's nearly taller than you!" Was this really that funny? "Hehe." Tenko giggled a bit too. "I'll burn you." Toya spat back.

Their reunion went as expected. The four went to a cafe, mildly incognito and had their fun. Sitting down by a circular table, they had ordered their drink and began to chat. "Hey Tenko, is it true?" (y/n) brought up, "That you're with Miruko?" Tenko proceeded to look through the cafe menu, not making eye contact but still replying. "Hm? Oh yeah, what about it?" Both (y/n) and Toya choked on air. "What the hell? How is that even possible?" (y/n) raised her voice, but not so much to the point where it grabbed the attention of others. "What do you mean 'how is that even possible?' If Toya and you are together then Rumi and I can be together." Holy shit, they were even on a first name basis too! (y/n) slumped back into her chair. "No... no!" She whined. "Ain't no way that woman got shit taste." She smiled as she said that, proud that Tenko found someone. It was meant to be sarcastic."Ehhh? At least it's better than having no taste." He looked back at the engaged couple.

"Okay that's messed up." (y/n) spoke. "Shame on you, Tenko." Toya followed after they had straight up bullied him. "Hypocrites." Tenko said in disgust. "Well, get used to it. I have a girlfriend too." Hana meekly raised her hand. "Tenko actually had to pay her at first. 'Cause our parents started to get worried that he'd never find someone."

Cue (y/n) and Toya laughing and pointing at Tenko. "So... so let me get this straight." Toya wheezed. "You had to pay Miruko to be your girlfriend so your parents would worry about you? Ya still paying her now?" Tenko pouted, his face red. "No." He crossed his arms, sinking into his black hoodie. "Listen, we're together now, whether you like it or not. Unlike you two, the two of us are dating top heroes. So go cry about it."

"So this is about power and not personality. Hey, how did Miruko even give in? She doesn't seem like the kind of person to be persuaded by money either. I'm pretty sure she makes a lot by status alone." Tenko rolled his eyes, ignoring the first sentence. "At the time, she had an agency and lived in her own place. She had stuff she wanted but had to pay rent for both places, so she needed extra money to buy shit she wanted. I was staying with my parents, so I didn't have to worry about paying rent so much, but just for our agency." By our, Tenko meant his and his sister.
