Courier station, King's Landing
"Master, are you asleep?" I knocked on her door.
We had changed our shifts on the ritual recently, so we could go back and sleep in the courier station during the night.
The ritual for the Emperor was immensely grand.
For the Taoist ritual, all of the recorded classics about Taoist gods in the kingdom are recited at least once.
Over three hundred cultivators had come, with just a handful of cultivators in the Black tier.
Only one person above the Black tier had come, and he was already over a hundred years old.
He was the only one wearing bright yellow ritual robes in the entire place.
Half of the great masters wearing purple ritual robes were familiar faces to me.
They were all from the Black temple... Among them, cultivator Diana was very surprised to see me here.
One could easily tell the Black temple's position in the school of spirituality from this.
As for the 'Tong' tier cultivators wearing red ritual robes, there were a lot more of them in comparison.
Half of those who were qualified to carry out rituals in the imperial palace could wear red ritual robes, though I was indeed the youngest among this group of people.
In the Black temple, there were over dozens of disciples just in the Tong tier...
Something had also happened today.
Something that I felt was... very unpleasant.
"Not yet. What's the matter?" Master's voice travelled out from the room.
"May this disciple come in? This disciple would like to ask Master about some scriptures."
This courier station was mostly occupied by cultivators and monks.
Since I was wearing the identity of a man, I had to say this.
"Come in, then."
"Understood."
The room was lit by an ever-burning lamp.
Wearing dark blue Taoist robes, Master was sitting on the bed with crossed legs.
The blanket had not been moved before.
Seeing this, admiration rose spontaneously in my heart.
The ritual for the Forever Departed Emperor would be ending in ten more days.
We had already sung scriptures intensely for twenty-nine days, and that was already overwhelming for me...
The only thing I wanted to do once I returned to the courier station every day was to sleep to death on the bed, but Master still continued to meditate every night.
"Master, aren't you tired? Take a break, there's no rush when it comes to improvement."
Feeling some heartache for her, I tried to persuade her.
She gave a slight smile, "You have yet to practice insider techniques, naturally you do not know of the secret within meditation. You'll understand it in the future."
I scratched my head as chuckled.
Master revealed an affectionate expression, then she pointed at a round cushion in the room, "Bring that over here and sit down."
I picked up the round cushion, but I did not put it on the bed.
I placed it below her eye level and at an appropriate distance from her, then sat down on my shins.
