Three days before...

I sneaked into the Bobber residence under the cover of night.

I quickly came to Ella's place, but my brows furrowed.

No servants?

It was completely dark and silent in the large courtyard.

Although I came rather late in the night, all of the occupied courtyards that I passed had at least one servant girl on night duty in a lit room.

Ella's courtyard was truly too quiet...

Not even a snore could be heard.

Following my memory, I came to her house.

I took out my dagger as I planned to push off the door bar, but found that the door wasn't even locked in the first place!

Carrying doubts, I entered the room.

Once I came to the bedside, I found that Ella wasn't actually asleep.

She was sitting by the bed!

The little lady said nothing.

She sat quietly in the darkness; even the sound of her breathing was very weak.

"Ella?" I called quietly.

I suddenly heard her let out a sigh, calling, "Uncle?"

I brought her away without any effort at all.

Back at the inn, I chose to climb in through the second floor window to avoid getting seen.

Ella and Jennie saw each other once again.

Jennie pulled her into her arms, and she began to cry.

Kneeling on the floor, Jennie apologized again and again as she hugged the small and skinny girl.

In comparison, the little lady was even stronger.

She even soothed Jennie's back, comforting her instead.

The two of them separated, then the six year old Ella undid her lapel, revealing her dudou.

She lifted it out...

Something like a patch was sewn onto the inner side of the dudou.

Greatly shocked, Jennie retrieved a pair of scissors, then she cut the patch and took out the thing inside it.

We learned the truth, a truth that I felt was inconceivable.

All of it traced back to a time six years ago, when Selena was still carrying Ella.

Justin's mother had a dream: she dreamt that an old woman dressed in rags came up to her with a basket and asked her, "Do you want this? If you do, you can have it for free."

Mrs. Bobber wouldn't say no, of course.

She had always loved getting things for cheap.

She wouldn't turn down a free item even if she was dreaming.

Mrs. Bobber received the basket, and the old woman disappeared.

She lifted the tattered cloth for a look, finding that there was only a teapot inside.

It was white with blue patterns.
