Chapter 4 (Wild Boar)

Gon's POV*

It started to get dark while we were waiting on the boar. It's a long process we all knew we were staying the night in the woods. Kurapika and Leorio already past out in the grass. Killua was looking up at the sky in a daze. I yawned and leaned back against a rock. I opened my backpack and pulled out my notebook and pen.

"What are you doing?" I hear next to me.

"Oh hey Killua, Um...just writing about my day, My aunt mito asked me to so she could read all about my adventures."

"So your writing in your diary?" Killua laughed punching my shoulder.

"Hey that hurt!" I whine.

"Well I'm gonna check on the boar. Having fun writing in your diary."

"It's not a- Whatever bye Killua." He waved, then put his hands on the back of his head and walked off.

I'm glad he dropped the asshole act. I could see right through it. I can tell he is a nice person. Maybe that's just how he is until he trust someone enough. I shook my head and started to write.

Hey aunt mito! I past the first two stages and in the third. We had to run a long time and then get through a forest rigged with traps. We had a couple accidents but we all made it out okay. Oh I've been saying we, I've made a few friends! Their names are Leorio, Kurapika, and Killua! They are super nice people I really hope we all hang out after the exam! Right now we are cooking a boar in the woods, We had to catch it its one of the most aggressive boars in the world! It's late at night the stars and moon light up the woods. It reminds elf home. Well I should probably get to sleep. I hope your doin well and ill see you soon.

I would just message her but we have no cell respection here. I yawned again and shoved my notebook back in my bag. My eyes got heavy as I started to fall asleep against the rock.

Killua's POV*

The boar should be done by the time we wake up. That is if I even fall asleep. I feel to open out here. There isn't inch to worry about though, everyone is spread out in the woods all the fires aren't together. I walked back over to where I left Gon and the others. Gon was asleep peacefully on the rock. That probably isn't too comfortable but he looked so at peace. I walked over and sat between Gon and Kurapika who was on the ground snoozing. I laid down looking up at the stars. I wonder how my sister is doing. She's probably fine though. My thoughts trailed to a conversation we had before I left.

"Killua be safe on your trip!" Alluka said.

"I will Alluka there's no need to worry about me."

"Well I hope you make some friends while there, you need some. You only have me and that doesn't count because I'm your sister."

"Ill try. But because of my past it will be hard. If I'm gonna make friends i want them to accept that past."

I looked over at the three sleeping bodies next to me. Alluka, I made friends just like you wanted. They accepted me after telling them that I was an assassin. My eyes fluttered shut and I drifted to sleep.

Leorios POV*

I woke up with the hot sun shining in my face. I was the first one up out of eh four of us. I walked over to the boar. It looks done. I then returned to the others and noticed Gon has woken up. He rubbed his eyes groggily and smiled up at me.

"Mornin' Leo."

"Good morning Gon. The boar sees to be done we should wake the others." He nods and walks over to Killua and I walk over to Kurapika.

I went to put my hand on the blondes shoulder until I notice him whimpering and sweating. Was he having a bad dream? I lightly touched his should and he sprung up in a panic. His eyes glowed Scarlet.

"DONT TOUCH ME" He yelled smacking my hand away.

Kurapika looked up at me and his eyes went back to a dark grey, "Oh Leorio its you, I'm sorry for smacking you."

"No its okay Kurapika, Are you okay?" I asked concerned.

"Y-yeah, I just had a bad dream. I don't wanna talk about it." He looked away from me. I just nod not wanting to pry.

"Well the boar is done, we should prepare it." Kurapika nods and I give him a hand up.

Kurapika's POV*

That was a horrible dream. Reliving what happened to my family. I felt water started to leave my eyes but I quickly wiped them away before anyone could notice. Killua and Gon followed behind us. Killua looked pissed.

"Hey I'm sorry I had to wake you we are in the middle of the Hunters exam and we have only an hour to prepare the boar." Gon said.

Killua huffed, "Well you could have been nicer about it instead of slapping face."

"You wouldn't wake up when a shook you!" Gon defended himself. I laughed at the two bickering.

We gathered together and started cutting up the boar. We had small talk as we went. Laughing and having a good time. I've been alone for so long I forgot how it felt to be surrounded by people. Killua talked about his sister and Gon talked about his home island.

"Woah it sounds amazing! I would love to visit the place!" Killua said with glee.

"Well maybe after the exam and everything we can visit! You can meet my friend, well unless he is busy with his girlfriend." Gon shrugged.

"Ah, Do you have a girlfriend Gon?" I asked just making small talk.

"No, not at the moment. I had a brief relationship early in high school with a chick named Palm, but I felt like we had no connection so we agreed to cut it off." Gon shrugged, "What about you?"

"No, After what happened to my family I only had a one track mind. Kill the spiders. I did have a crush on someone though..."

I didn't want to go into detail. Mostly because my crush was a guy. When I was 16 I realized I was bisexual. I dont think they would judge me for it but I didn't want them to feel awkward around me.

"What about you Killua?" I asked getting the conversation off me.

"My family didn't allow relationships. They said they made a person weak. Which is complete bullshit. But now I'm free to date anyone I want, though I'm not exactly looking right now." He shrugged.

Killua's POV*

After our conversation there was silence between all of us. It wasn't awkward or anything we were all just stuck in our heads. Relationships wasn't something I really thought about. How would I find anyone that was oka with my past and that my family would even accept. I didn't even know the type I was into. That doesn't really matter in my family though, Hisoka was gay he's in a secret relationship, I've heard him talk on the phone with a person but never caught the name.

We continued with the boar before sitting around and eating it as the examiner came around for a taste test. It was a really good boar, Kurapika was really good at prepping it.

"Yum! This is delicious! You four pass! I have to finish up with the last couple of groups then I'll take you to the final round."

"Final round? I thought there was 5 stages?" Gon said.

"Well that was last year, Every year the number changes between 4-6 stages. Because we are only doing 4 this go around, the last stage will be harder then if e were to do 6." The examiner said then walked off.

I wonder what the final stage is gonna be?
